Is this 1.5% before or after the inferno 80% lifesteal reduction? I've always been a bit fuzzy on which lifesteal skills were calculated before and after.
If it's before, then you need amazing gear to function on 1.5% alone. If it's after ... then it's all about whether you can purchase a weapon that does 5% more damage without life steal compared to one with.

The higher your dps the less %healing you need. If you have anywhere close to that skorn guy's dps, you'll also be fine with a 1h.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
I hate how youtube links automatically embed the player here. Anyway, see post #37 on this thread http://www.diablofans.com/topic/69299-storm-chaser-what-gonna-happen-if/page__st__20 to check whether or not I have any issues with reflect packs.

I've never really had any problems with reflect packs. I deal 6k dps to myself on reflect, I heal about 5.5k hps. I outheal plain melee phase beasts ... the only type of elite that has more than a 10% kill rate (on me) is probably electric, reflect damage phase beasts, which I run into every few hours.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
All other reflect mob types I just burn down without really paying attention to them - they rarely get to damage me.
Here's a farm video I made a few days ago - I don't even know how many reflect packs I faced (don't really bother to mouse over them at all.) You tell me if I played any differently against them, heh:

/shrug, I have like +150 resists and +500 armor from my gear all added together and I die maybe once every two hours on average using a 1h's leech.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
I'm willing to trade marginal survivability for the 100 mil, or thereabouts, that I'm saving.

You can make a 100k dps archon wizard for 20 mil easily. Also, lifesteal skorn is overpriced - you can get the same dps from a rare lifesteal 1h + triumvirate for about a third of the cost.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Also, unless your dps is complete crap, lifesteal will easily beat loh for any energy twister builds now.

Sometimes top wizards just like to log off in their gear that shows off their maximum damage or other stats. See sig for examplePosted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Edit: Also, unless you've got massive defensive stats, you die very easily without some form of life return with archon even at 250k. With my mediocre defense, I take about 6k damage/sec from a single reflect damage mob, I'd shudder to think of what'd happen if I doubled my damage and had no lifesteal - I'd die in 0.4 seconds if I hit 3 reflect damage mobs at the same time. The fact that you stand still to dps means you get hit by every projectile - or you can dodge them and then your efficiency falls hard. The most cost effective solution is to simply get a lifesteal weapon and pay almost no attention to defensive stats.

I wouldn't get Inna's pants until you're seriously out of other things you could be upgrading. I'd recommend Lacuni's and Zunimassa's Trail (8% elemental damage is pretty huge.)Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories

I meant that the total worth of all my gear combined was under 20 mil.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
It's pretty amazing what you can get for 1 mil these days:
1000 dps 1h weapon with socket and lifesteal
50-150 damage triumvirate
150 int/150 vit/60 resist all chest armor
Also, you can make critical mass build work just fine with ~1 mil gold (you really like overshooting on price estimates, lol):
Screenshot of gear purchases is on the youtube description.

The really crappy ones do (go for 2-3 mil). Chances are though, getting jewelry pieces strong in 2 of the trifecta stats with bonus damage is probably at least five times cheaper than trifecta jewelry with the same damage increase.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
I think you're massively overestimating archon pricing, Jaetch. 140 mil seems overkill ... I started at around 110k dps with 20 mil of gear.

You're basically just describing diminishing returns. You could argue that someone else spends only 1 million on gear and does the prescribed loop in 20 minutes and laughs at you who spent over 50 times as much money and is only 5 minutes faster per run.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Heck, take it one step further, the workaholic who works 18 hours a day and makes twice as much as you or I do. I bet he's giggling himself silly laughing at how people spend time playing games instead of making money.
People put in what they're willing to put in to keep the game fun.
PS - really? Blatty spent billions on his gear? I'm not even at the half bil mark and I'm only 10k hp lower with slightly more dps. I guess things are a lot more expensive on the euro side /shrug.
