I wouldn't get Inna's pants until you're seriously out of other things you could be upgrading. I'd recommend Lacuni's and Zunimassa's Trail (8% elemental damage is pretty huge.)

I meant that the total worth of all my gear combined was under 20 mil.

It's pretty amazing what you can get for 1 mil these days:

1000 dps 1h weapon with socket and lifesteal
    50-150 damage triumvirate
    150 int/150 vit/60 resist all chest armor

Also, you can make critical mass build work just fine with ~1 mil gold (you really like overshooting on price estimates, lol):

The really crappy ones do (go for 2-3 mil). Chances are though, getting jewelry pieces strong in 2 of the trifecta stats with bonus damage is probably at least five times cheaper than trifecta jewelry with the same damage increase.

    ---

I think you're massively overestimating archon pricing, Jaetch. 140 mil seems overkill ... I started at around 110k dps with 20 mil of gear.

posted a message on Disintegrate vs. Arcane Orb for Archon build
Disintegrate ticks 4 times per second, however, by design, the game doesn't display values that rapidly - if they do, the numbers would all be overlapping each other. Damage and healing numbers are displayed every half second by the game client.

So with disintegrate (along with other damage over time abilities like blizzard or venom hydra, etc.), what the game does, is adds the damage that you've done in the previous half second, then displays this as a white number. Each of the individual ticks can and do crit, this is why your disintegrate numbers fluctuate.

All on-crit procs and on-hit procs work per tick, but at a significantly reduced coefficient (I think it's something like 11% for most disintegrate runes?).

That being said ... why wouldn't you run stormchaser? I find disintegrate near unusable with 240k dps.

Well, unless your AH is vastly different from mines, the lowest chantodo's offhand is around 20 mil/$20 and an average one is around 100 mil/$100.

Also, while LoK may be great when your dps is low, once it starts growing, you'll definitely feel the pain from reflect packs - they'll become a delicate dance of how little you can graze the others in the pack while downing them one at a time and kiting them to the health orbs they drop.

Anyway, my argument, essentially, is that you can probably buy the same level of dps using a rare + triumvirate as you could with one fifth the money used to purchase a chantodo's set, and the first combo has optional affixes such as socket *and* crit or life steal etc.

I disagree, at least on the NA server, life leech Skorn is far more expensive than the same equivalent dps combo of a 1h+oh with lifesteal.

I did the math, my 1h + oh combo that I purchased for 80 mil does the same damage as a 1470 dps skorn with 180% crit damage, which is going to be almost an order of magnitude costlier (not sure if it's even possible).

posted a message on Archon + Skorn without lifesteal?
Generally, skorn is overpriced for the damage that it does. A good 1h rare + triumvirate combo, at the same price of a skorn, will end up doing roughly the same damage but *with* life steal.

With a 1h though, unless you have absolutely godly resists, you'll almost always still be losing hp against reflect packs, just not that much.

Don't worry too much about getting back into archon once out of it though, you can easily swap to a 1h/oh combo and fire off energy twisters for 5 sec before swapping back into your main weapon. It's tremendously cheaper than trying to get static apoc on your gear that is never used when you're in archon.

Yeah, elemental damage on weapons don't benefit from the +damage% modifier. The elemental damage range themselves are actually slightly larger than the physical ones, so there definitely are 1200+ dps elemental weapons on the AH though, just not that many.

Chantodo's Will/Force is a high-end setup that I don't think really is worth its price. For example, just today I was looking over upgrades over my 40 mil triumvirate offhand, and I started plugging in Chantodo's force numbers. The first Chantodo that actually beat the triumvirate (by a grand total of 68 dps!) was priced at 290 million - and a lot of that comes from the attack speed "fluff" damage. Also, as mentioned previously, the wand itself cannot spawn socket and lifesteal, which is a bummer.

I swap in an apoc wand and offhand, both with crap for dps so I can cycle my archon cooldown in about 5 seconds with critical mass against a pack of 3-5 mobs, then go right back into archon mode.

Both neither are viable at inferno for act 3/4, unless you outgear (vastly) the content

What would you consider to be "outgeared"?

I'm a smidgen under 200k dps on the character screen and I don't do enough dps to use either disintegrate or ray of frost in normal grinding. Or rather, I don't do enough dps to make it more efficient than 10-20 other spell combinations I can think of.
