Detailed analysis on what kinds of damage sources are reduced by what, like what is reduced by armor only, what by resistances and armor, what by nothing, what can be evaded. Which kinds of damage get reduced by stuff like Resolve or Threatening Shout.
I am not sure on all of these, just heard multiple theorys and statements about stuff like plague and desecrate being unaffected by resistances and evasion, while fire chains can be evaded. Melee damage gets reduced by resolve, Molten isn't. Fire walls in A3 aren't reduced by anything etc etc. I would like to know once and for all, which of these informations are accurate and which ones are just rumors.
These are great things to look at, I totally didn't think about that at all, I was only thinking about class mechanics, but this is a great suggestion.
I'm looking into creating a video series heavily based on theorycrafting, for all classes and such. I only have a couple ideas on what I'm going to do.
I'd love to see some ideas from this forum because in my opinion, this is the best place for the best theorycrafting and I'd love to help/contribute to it.
Hey guys, fourth week I'm doing this and it's quite fun seeing what you can do with a budget. Come join to learn how to do this yourself or get a set when I give it away.
Hey guys, similar to last week's stream on monday, i'll be doing another budget monk guide, but this time i'll be making three at varying budgets of 1m 5m and 10m and we'll see what we can do. Last week i made a set for a bit under 11m that could do mp5 comfortably and gave it away. I had a lot of fun doing this and i'm going to be making it a weekly thing. I'll be giving out advice and gear checks for monks afterwards and we'll top it all off with a 50+ Legendary Giveaway. Be sure to tune in at www.twitch.tv/brandonfreeck Can't wait to see you there!
Hey guys, i just wanted to let you know i'll be streaming in about 40 minutes and i'll be doing legendary farming with viewers as well as giveaways.
But most importantly since i see tons of threads asking about this i'll be doing gear checks and giving general advice for monks of all levels, so come join and chill and maybe learn something. =P
loh is bad on weapons because u can gain more damage from crit damage, so you'l need to find your loh on a ring or amulet in the future.
the best thing for u is to buy two new weapons 800+ dps 100dex 50+ crit damage + socket.. put 70% crit gem in it, that will put u at 40k dps. if u want loh u just insert a loh gem into a socket but u loose alot of dps
damage is survival , more damage u do easier its gonna get, but u wont be able to have such high resists unless your rich, so prepare to drop 200.
always buy weapons with a socket, and good dex and crit damage, while u enhance your gear, i also used a 300 loh in my weapon when my damage sucked, as your gear improves and damage improves, u can stop using it.
u also dont wanne give up too much dex for crit chance, bracers with 5% and 100 dex would do more dps.. dex is important, same on rings, dex adds alot of damage also, so u wanne lower resists not dex.. U can get alot of dex if you take lesser resist gear.
your crit chance is good, but now u also need good weapons with crit damage so then it will be better hehe
i have 50k dps 5k armor and 590 resist, if u wanne do high dps, u need to lower your defenses, things cant hurt u when they dead, so as your damage goes up, your defense can come down. unless u are very rich u cannot become a tank high dps monster. i have 400 loh on amulet which is more then enough..
So you have in total 400 loh and you do fine with 50k dps 5k armor 600 resist? What's your chc/chd? And do any packs in act III give you problems?
Like thundersteel said...Most of your gear is maybe decent but far from good. There is no point in havin lots of cyclones if u simply lack the dmg to make em work. Think about it.
What's a good crit baseline i should have then? Like 30%?
Ok, here is the list of items that you can keep (i.e. not upgrade):
shoulders
pants maybe, but 2 socket pants will be better, and should have double resists
main hand spear (it's not bad, other items will get you more dps)
the belt is acceptable, though more dex would be better
the boots can stay for a while, but eventually need an upgrade
For every other item, you should look to get 60-80 more dex, and look for stuff that has at least poison resist or vit, preferably both, even for the rings and amulet and so on.
Should i be as obsessed as i am with keeping above 40% crit? I love my cyclones, and i fear that me not wanting to drop below 40% crit is making it really hard for me to upgrade.
RNG is RNG for sure, there's no reason they'd change the affix ration on anything, none that i think of at least, and even then it'd be impossible to detect without a HUGE sample pool.
Good information, looking forward to the results. Can you remind me, how do I go about spawning in VotA?
Start with the black soulstone quest, enter VotA and you will get a checkpoint.
And if I kill Zoltun Kulle? Do I still get to spawn in VotA?
No, just do the run above and that's pretty much the best run you can do while staying in VotA, you want to maintain that checkpoint. you don't wan any new checkpoints. I'm only testing to see if some of the zones above aren't worth the time comparatively.
Ok, thanks for clarifying. Locating VotA in Desolate Sands is one of the biggest time sinks in this route, so I'll probably skip ZK and Belial in the future, start in VotA to get 5 stacks as fast as possible, and then clear the rest. Thanks!
That's the idea, nobody likes wasting time so it's usually best to just start in vault then leave then come back later, as i said in the video, just make sure you zone out into desolate sands so you can find it again quickly when you go to the waypoint.
Also i got 2 runs done last night and it's looking like i should be able to have this done within about a week, i don't have classes tomorrow so i'll be able to get a good amount of runs in.

I'll have to test that, it sounds like it would, is it really that dense with mobs though?

Fixed the video, and Leoric's manor will give less xp than Act III, and i said to take them to the highest difficulty they can access.
