HP is a heavily weighted factor in toughness. If you have sacrificed Vit on too many pieces to get that DPS, it would explain your low toughness in relation. For T6, I usually try to have a 500K or so HP pool.

Pretty sure he meant to say Stampede rather than Steed Charge on the skill he disliked, but I don't want to speak for him. His context seemed to be switching to discussing non-support roles, in which Stampede and Condemn are the sader choices and he did specify "something other than Condemn".

It's RNG. Either way CAN give you more legendaries per hour and over a long enough timeline, I'm sure they are almost perfectly even. Your chances of drops and blood thieves in a full clear should be nearly equal to the extra guaranteed ~100 bloodshards from closing. Some people are simply too invested in their image of how fast they can complete a rift. Some people just really don't like key farming. This sets up some hateful debates on the issue, but it's really preference and outside of RNG deviations, should be about the same as far as gear.

Kill and Close = guaranteed bloodshards, but possibly fewer and targeted slots

Full Clear = RNG for more bloodshards and rare drops you might want but not be targeting

this is flawed logic isnt it? the only difference between full clear and kill and close is the 30 seconds between rifts. full clear does not rng for more blood shards or rare drops because a rift is a rift. the trade off is the quicker blood shards versus 30 seconds+keystone.

basically im saying i think 30seconds+keystone is well worth more blood shards from closing the rift. any argument against that can only be saying 30seconds+keystone is not worth more rg blood shard drops. any argument mentioning the possibility of blood thieves and more legs just dont work because the chance of getting those after a rg is the same as before a rg. unless blizzard instituted a secret bonus on drops post rg, these arguments simply cant be used.

Not at all. What are the odds I roll a 1 in the first five tries compared to the odds of rolling a 1 over 25 tries?

When the rift is opened, the elites are determined. If there are 25 elites, any of those 25 could be a goblin instead. If you only kill the first 5 encountered, you reduce the odds of finding the goblin that did spawn. You instead are gambling on one of the first 5 being the one, and if not, rerolling the elites to try the first 5 of the next rift.

Edit: I'm considering a moment to check my logic...

I may have to eat crow, but correct my mistake it you see it. Using those made up numbers from before:

    1 out of 25 is 4%

Only killing the first 5 would divide by 5, so .8%, then doing 5 times is back to 4%. The simple math indicates they are equal.

However, you have added 4 x 30 seconds to kill speed. A single blood thief drops 300-500 shards, I think, and there can be more than 1 in a rift. By the odds, it should basically be equal over time, then, as I stated.

If you are going for more GUARANTEED bloodshards, kill and close will do that. The chance that you closed a rift where RNG blessed you with blood thief (thieves), however, can, in the short term, put the full clearer ahead.

    Edit: Edit:

As I consider this, this may require much more than the simple odds formulas due to all the elites being determined at the rift opening... My understanding was that goblins are elites that rolled successfully to be a goblin. I'm not sure this is the same as saying each has a 4% chance. It depends on how the RNG is done behind the curtain; e.g.s it a % chance per rift or is each elite given a % chance roll.

posted a message on A real attempt at addressing the stash space dilemma
I like Glowpipe's solution. Make crafting mats and keys a currency that shows on the display like gold instead of physical items in inventory. There, those no longer require item id's in a database. Because legendary gems have set attributes based on level, unlike gear, those could theoretically be treated the same.

While we're at it, why not treat legendary pots the same? Sure, you need to drop the item in-game. However, upon identifying it, it could go to your (belt) bar automatically with the highest stat you've found. For instance, if you find a +25,000 hp pot, the red pot is automatically updated to that. If you find a 38k pot, it just overwrites the value on the bar. If you find a 29k pot after that, it essentially ignores it because it isn't an upgrade. Yes, this would need to apply to all your characters just by finding one pot, but so what? We shuffle them as needed anyways. This is a QOL improvement for us and a database space saver for them, win-win. As to the different types of pots, like Kool-Aide etc, just make the pot icon a drop down between the types you've found.

Then, make 2 stashes for each character. One is for that character, one is shared. This potentially makes stash space 15 times bigger. However, doing this means each stash can be smaller. Two tabs might be all we ever need for each character. If you are only storing class specific items there, we need less. The shared one can possibly be condensed some to account for the mats and keys being a currency. The only things that would need to go in shared would be items that really cross over, which is mostly jewelry and weapons. Bracers for example. Int bracers with lightning may benefit my wizard, but would not benefit a WD who has no viable lightning builds, so they are more likely to go in my wizard's personal stash.

So yes, doing this definitely increases server space used, but not nearly as much as you might assume at first.
Edit: Also, this may have a large effect on the number of toons we create, further saving space. For instance, I have an Int, Str, and Dex mule for season and non-season. That's 6. Then, if I have one of each class for non-season, that's 6 more. Given how long the season was, I created 3 season toons. In fact, ns crusader was boring so I deleted him for a 4th season toon. I hit all 15 pretty easy. With improved stash and a more normal season length, I could not have mules at all, leaving me with only 6 ns and 2 or 3 season, so only 8-9 toons total.

posted a message on I want so much, but i dont have the space...
    5 classes ns
    4 classes season
1 mule each primary stat ns
1 mule each primary stat season

I'm out of characters. I can delete some duplicate classes now to make room for season 2 toons, but I'll be at 6 ns, so 1 less season toon available.

All of my mules are full. Combining them will take a while. Some items will be duplicates that can be deleted, but not all, so the mules will overflow into the already stuffed stash. This is exactly why I had to farm forever for an Incense Torch. Salvaged all the ones I found earlier because I had to prioritize and when was I really going to use that?
I'm really not sure what Blizzard is thinking on this. I get that it will never be enough for everyone, but right now, it's not enough for anyone.

posted a message on RORG Trick Successful Question?
RoRG USED to be a much more rare drop. Also, bounties took longer to complete. That method was gaming an older system. You used to be guaranteed a legendary drop every hour. They were trying to avoid the chance of any other legendaries dropping to ensure a legendary dropped from the cache IF you had been active for at least an hour before opening it. It is actually counter-productive now.

As stated, T6 guarantees a legendary from the cache drop. If you are not farming T6, just farm the highest torment you can quickly. You should not have to stop for more than 3-15 seconds even for elites. Skip any trash that is not a part of the objective. If that means, T1, so be it, as long as it is torment. Good luck.
