Quote from Serpenth
Blizzard didn't over hype Diablo 3. The community did. We are in the twitter era. Word of mouth spreads so quickly. If you hear news an hour after it breaks you are late to the party. The word of how "good" and "groundbreaking" games are spreads like wildfire and the idea is in peoples minds. Diablo 3 sold 7 million copies because people heard about it and heard it would be epic.
Remember Star Wars the Old Republic? The greatest thing to hit the PC market since the first computer itself? Yeah barely holding on to it's life. Because everyone just assumed it would be epic and groundbreaking because they heard from a small minority who praised it.
Same with Guild Wars 2 - wait until the bandwagoners figure out there's no raids and end game items are nothing more than fluff.
People just need to form their own opinions on things before expecting it to make them orgasm. I'm not really implying that you bought Diablo 3 blindly OP, I'm just pointing out the world we live in and how everything is over hyped these days.
Back in the bronze-age, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and cellphones hadn't yet evolved touchscreens, some wise philosophers once said:
Don't.
Don't.
Don't.
Don't.
Don't believe the hype.

Yup, I'm so sure Diablo 2 is so much better. It totally wasn't 12 years of doing the same thing we're now doing in Diablo 3. Oh wait, in Diablo 3 I actually do more than run the same boss over and over and actually get to see more of the terribly bland terrain, because Diablo 2 was never just as bland with endless dim dungeons to explore! Or a bright jungle with cartoonish pygmies running around. Yup, Diablo 3 is just so terrible since you can mess around with different stuff without having to make another character or break out a third party character editor.
You have made your point so well. Everyone is just blind to how horrible this is to be playing Diablo 2.5...er, I mean Diablo 3.

Quit trying to put words in my mouth. Quit it right now. I'm still having tons of fun when I actually have time to play. I didn't rush for Inferno Diablo, hell, I'm still in Nightmare with the characters that I'm levelling at an enjoyable pace instead of embracing the "OMG MUST BEAT EVERYTHING NOW!" mentality that's taken over too much of gaming.
Speak for yourself, and don't take these and the D3 forums as the voice of everyone playing. Unhappy people are always louder than the happy people.
