Blizzard didn't over hype Diablo 3. The community did. We are in the twitter era. Word of mouth spreads so quickly. If you hear news an hour after it breaks you are late to the party. People just need to form their own opinions on things before expecting it to make them orgasm. I'm not really implying that you bought Diablo 3 blindly OP, I'm just pointing out the world we live in and how everything is over hyped these days.
