AFAIK Cyclone Strike is indeed a knockback mechanic even that it does the knocking in wrong direction.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

I was under the impression that manually refreshing Sweeping Winds (ie. clicking it again when it's active) snapshots the info again as well. So in order to do the item swap eploiting you'd need to change the items each time you intend to refresh it.Hitting stuff to keep it up keeps the snapshotted info.
EDIT: Crossed over wrong info. At least according to another main page post I was under wrong impression.

Dynamic Stat EquivalenciesPosted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
+1 Prime Stat = 15.54
+10 Prime Stat = 155.36
+1% Item Atk Spd = 223
+0.5% Crit Hit = 119
+1% Crit Dmg = 59.16
+10% Crit Dmg = 591
There's a breakdown of what you'd gain from each dps stat with the gear you have. Shamelessly copied straight from theasiangamer.com. I suggest you to go check that out for help in future gearing. Just click the huge banner on the site for calculator, and then just import your profile. After that it's easy to alt+tab out for coparing the change of one item to another while browsing AH. Just remember to save your current profile first, so that you can easily revert the experiments and get back to your actual gear.
Huge thing obviously would be getting a weapon with socket for +crit dmg gem. Another thing would be aiming to find some items with +attack speed on them. Best slot for getting that is the ring slots, since you can get up to 9% ias from rings compared to meager 4.5 crit or 35(?) crit dmg. Getting ones with both ias and some crit or crit damage shouldn't be too expensive.
EDIT: And of course going for dualwielding would help getting your dps up quite a bit.

I went up to 980 resists before starting slowly backtracking on it. Now I'm down to 650, and with 57k damage it's still enough. You'll need to find the balance yourself by "how it feels". With enough LoH and high enough attack speed you can get away with less defensive stats, but if you can't get your hp rising fast enough, you'll need to either reduce the incoming damage (killing the mobs faster, adding armor/resistance) or increase the speed you gain life.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

If you want to run Deadly Reach for more defensive approach go definately with Keen Eye. I used to progress with s&b using Deadly Reach as primary spirit builder, and very defensive build. I've tried that as well, and besides very slow killing speed there is nothing wrong in that. With Deadly Reach IAS becomes even more important though, since it is a slower hitting skill compared to FoT. FoT also gives you more life from LoH if you are surrounded by enemies (the last hit gives hp for each enemy it hits).Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Other way of using Deadly Reach would be weaving it into your FoT hits. Since it's the third hit of a hit sequence that gives the buff, you can hit 2 hits with FoT and then the third with Deadly Reach. I suspect that it would get annoying with only 4 secs of buff, so you'd basically alternate between FoT and Deadly Reach alot. And you would need to give up another skill slot for using 2 spirit builders.
If you build for crit and crit damage, FoT is your bread and butter. For sword and board the Keen Eye rune gives huge defensive bonus, and is something to try at least.

it is sad we have to rely on loh and crit and crit damage for everything past act2
We don't necessarily need to rely on them, but crit and crit damage have really nice synergy with Sweeping Winds with Cyclone rune, so they really are the best way of increasing damage right now.
Going for max attack speed is still possible as well, and it has the advantage of increasing the efficiency of LoH, so it does give you that nice warm feeling of immortality when standing in fire chains, molten, plague and desecration hitting stuff and laughing with hp staying full.
It's more of a finding synergies and striking a balance between defensive stats, damage and sustainability (LoH, globes, life steal).

Oh wow. Your gear looks really nice, and should be more than enough for anything. You have enough life, but armor is low. Switch to enchantress (I'm assuming you run with Scoundrel) for quick increase in armor. Also look for upgrades that would give you more attack speed. You have some LoH, but without a lot more attack speed, that amount might not be enough to carry you.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

No, the game alternates between weapons for each swing, and even that doesn't matter in terms of LoH or crit damage, since the buffs are for all the hits. Weapon with high (800+) LoH and socket is going to be very expensive, or is going to have very low dps, so it may take some farming before you can get one. Before getting there you can try regemming one of the weapons and see if that would feel better than going all out for damage.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

That's a tough one. I'd try to replace the mace for now, but when you get more attack speed from gear, you could switch out the sword and replace it with the mace. Overall the mace is better, but it needs some gear to support it that isn't there yet.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

For finding out what to do with your gear, try using one of the damage calculators around the net. There are other tools as well, but my personal favorite has been:Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Just input your gear there once, save and then you can compare upgrades by just changing the info on piece you're thinking of upgrading. Just remember to reload the saved stats after experimenting. At the bottom you get also the figures of how much each of the damage stats would change your damage, which I have found to be very useful when considering between pieces.
