Well, I guess I won't mention my gender if it offends people so much or brands me as an "attention whore" as Meown puts it, rather unkindly.
What kind of response would I have received if I just wrote "mature gamer" with no gender instead? I can't help wondering, if a male gamer posted with "mature male gamer", would he receive such criticism and scorn for posting his gender? It seems to be one-sided and rather presumptuous to assume that a woman gamer identifying her gender is doing it for purely sexual purposes. In fact, a lot of these comments just serve to reinforce my views about gender identity being problematic in the gaming community. Though, not always
Edit: And of course I want attention: That is why I posted to forums and have a stream going. But the kind of attention I want is very different from what some of you have indicated I want. I've already explained that in an earlier post, so not going to regurgitate the gemeinschaft and gesellschaft of gaming via streaming again.
