The season is ruined because you skipped 1 day of gearing? In the last 3 seasons everyone had at least 1 set completed by the end of day 2 of seasons. Did it speed up seasons? Yes, by less than 8 hours of gaming. If that ruined it for you, you are playing the wrong game.Quote from Smittles90»
Hello Everybody,
This post may be a little long but I hope you will all read it, especially those who may feel the same but couldn't be arsed to make a post about it.
It has been 3 weeks today since Season 5 started and I wanted to make a thread to hopefully convey the general feel me and my friends have gotten from Season 5 and why it has been the least pleasant season so far for my friends and myself.
In terms of the quality of the game, it has never been better, the content and the diversity of viable builds is at an all-time high and I'm very impressed with how the game has evolved.
What has made this season the least pleasant and the reasons I have barely played since the first weekend are all based around the choices Blizzard have made to speed up progression. The primary reason S5 has fizzled into shit for me is, because of Haedrig's Gift and what I want a season to be like contradict each other.
A new season is supposed to be a fresh start, everything from the beginning which is what I love most. Leveling has always been pretty fast, and since the introduction of Adventure Mode, leveling time is almost non-existent. Me and my friends are by no means speedy levelers, we do every bonus bounty in each act once for a few cubing materials for any legendaries we may need for our builds, then Rifts til 70 and that takes us approximately 4-5 hours. Then ZK on T2 is stupidly easy, then with the 4piece of our sets we can easily do GR20 solo.....within one hour of being level 70 MOST people have started doing Torment 6 completely bypassing 5 torment levels. . . .Which is where my problem lies.
The most fun part of a new season is gradually progressing through the torments, replacing gear pieces bit by bit with whatever hash of legendaries you can put together until you get those important set pieces, which in turn enables you to progress to the next difficulty. There was absolutely NONE of that this season, as soon as the 6piece of your set is done and you get a semi-decent ancient weapon you can steam T9 until T10 is enabled. I was doing T9-10 with an ancient FotVP on my Barb in about 2 hours after hitting 70. . .with legendaries raining down on me. Then the boring part starts. ...grinding GRs to level paragons and gems.
I have played this season the least out of any of the seasons, playing no more than the first weekend, yet I progressed further than any other season I have played previously, which to me, implies the progression curve is fucked.
Seasons no longer reward hard work, because nothing is hard, the hardest part about Season 5, is finding the will to actually click "Play" on my launcher...which hasn't happened since the first weekend of S5.
I hope this thread wasn't too much of a mish-mash of thoughts and complaints, I was finding it hard to convey why I won't be returning until Season 6.
TL;DR - Haedrig's Gift is a shit idea and ruined Season 5, and in my opinion, goes entirely against what a season should be about.

Stealpulse posted a message on Did The Cube Finish Destroying Diablo 3?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionTo me the end-game is seeing how high you can get in the GR's. Incremental improvements in gear and builds serves to meet that goal.
Try HC as one of the other posters suggested, it's not for me personally but I bet it removes a large percentage of "making the hunt too easy".

Justusy posted a message on Best weapon for pet build? For DoTs build?I personally find your argument very convincing Willemh, especially due to my own experience with SMK.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
Because attack speed doesn't increase dot damage, most of BBV is wasted for a dot doctor with starmetal. -

Willemh posted a message on Best weapon for pet build? For DoTs build?I disagree with anyone saying SMK is BIS for jade harvest builds. I tried it, and its simply not worth it. By default a 1.2 attacks/secondweapon (sunkeeper)deals around 17% more damage then a 1.4 attacks/second weapon (SMK). Very important to note is that this damage increase is a flat multiplicative increase. Secondly a sunkeeper has the +30% elite damage stat (extremely strong) and the SMK has the +crit damage stat (extremely weak, +% damage on normal weapons is a far better stat even) Equiping a SMK means near full BBV and fetish army uptime, however they take 2 active skill slots that could be used for other skills. A jade harvester build always needs 4 skills: spirit walk, soul harvest, locust swarm, haunt. So with SMK your out of options after taking these 4 mandatory skills. This means you will loose skills likepiranhiado (+15% additive damage), horrify (+50% toughness and insane control) or mass confusion (+20% additive damage and great control). Piranhiado and theincreased base damage of a sunkeeper easily make up for the 30% additive damage gain from BBV. Ontop of that piranhiado is far better for control and allows you to hit far more mobs with harvest. Since the damage fetishes do is irrelevant (you 1-shot mobs anyway) they only serve as meatshield/control, horrify is far better suited for that since its an actual stun and it doesnt scatter mobs around like fetish army tends to do. Piranhiado>horrify>harvestcan never be beaten by big bad vodoo>fetish army>harvest.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura -

Belloc posted a message on 90% all Resist with best in slot gear and getting crushed on still.You know, threads like this are starting to make me wonder if the Diablo 3 community is becoming more toxic than the WoW community. I mean, I can't recall ever seeing a WoW player make a thread asking for help and advice and then trashing and ignoring those that try to help. It's like this game just brings out the douchebags.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
OP asked for advice, was given advice, and anyone can look at this character link and see that he didn't change a single damned thing about his gear, even on pieces that he could've easily changed (like his shoulders). Then there are threads where people say, "I get 4-5 legendaries per day farming 30-40 Torment 6 rifts" and people responding, "then maybe you should farm 100 Torment 4 rifts instead" and the OP replies saying, "hey, don't tell ME how to play just because you can't handle Torment 6."
I mean, come on guys, this shit needs to stop. If you're going to ask for advice, take it. If you're going to complain about your lack of drops, listen to the points people are making about how to fix that problem. If you're going to post just to whine, then whine to mommy and daddy instead, because no one here cares. We'll give you advice, but we won't hold your hair back while you vomit in the toilet because you drank too much. -

Torment 1 puts me to sleep. Torment VI keeps me awake and on my feet.
I was actually falling asleep in a Torment IV game with friends the other night. -

They often seem to be completely baffled by just stairs, like a bunch of ******* retarded Daleks.
Its almost embarrassing in group play when 'my' characters stand around with their thumb up their ass while Elites are right there. -

There is an invisible flying spaghetti monster that lives above your house. All your bad RNG fortune is due to him. You can't see him or interact with him but he's there. I can't prove that he's there but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Now please discuss my theory but I expect you to be only diplomatic.Quote from Polrayne
What amazes me is the standpoint that because I can't prove something, means that it doesn't exist. I wish there were a little more room for diplomacy in some of these discussions. That last sentence was not directed at Shaggy - just a general observation of many standpoints from posters about issues they don't believe in. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

If I was in Blizzards shoes I wouldn't add this change. Reason being that I bet they get a lot more complaints about "the system selected the wrong class and I wasted my shards" rather than what they receive now for people having to switch characters. They have to cater for simple minds.

Nice work. It's very useful.

I don't know why people jump on the what's next bandwagon not even 2 weeks after a patch has just been released. Enjoy the current game rather than looking for future changes.
TX is ridiculously easy but that's fine, we have grifts.
With so many sets it'd be nice to have more stash space.
Augmenting is fine. I don't think an ilvl system could be implemented to update all stats slightly.
It would be nice if they dropped a bombshell and announced a new expansion to be released somewhere around May-Sep. It will have been 2 years since RoS was released. We don't necessarily need new campaign content, just give us 2 new classes - Druid (agility) and Necromancer (int).

Will the extra life make you clear rifts 4.1% faster? Doubt it.
An argument could be made for certain classes running the CDR gem that the extra CDR lets them clear faster or do higher difficulties more efficiently leading to more XP per hour than running a ruby.

Damn I know this feeling haha. I've blown through ~600 FS in the past day upgrading gear and trying to craft the elusive perfect hellfire neck. I crafted 35 Hellfire necks and had no luck.
I'm running a speed farming T8 HotA build with Sages. It gets about 500 DBs and 55 legs per/hour. Use those DBs to upgrade rare items in hope of upgrades, if not DE them so it works out to 75 FS per/hour.

I farmed this route for about 2 hours today. I played around with what worked best T3/T4/T5/T6. I wasn't getting anywhere near close to that xp though. I was getting:
T3 = 600M/hour
T4 = 900M/hour
T5 = 1.2B/hour
T6 = 1.5B/hour

You can pick up a weapon with
800 dps
800 LoH
60% crit
Socket
for under 5M.
