    It's 2.2 which means it's the new set (which you can see if you look at his character). It makes your skills deal more damage the more discipline you have.

    You should be using Harmony for the 40% single resist -> all resist unless of course you feel like only one element kills you every time. As a melee it's kind of a must :P

    I don't use it in my build though but I'm not a typical melee monk.

    Do you realise how insanely tough gr 40 is?

    Anyway, I do not play a barbarian I however play a monk and I go against the stream as much as I can and RNG helps me do that as well :D
    I do not want to nor have I completed monkey king yet still only got 2 pieces and im paragon 255. The top 1000 monks on the solo board seem to explicitly use the monkey king spirit dump build and I don't like that because I know there are builds that can do that or close to that as well. This is the reason why I'm running a SSS/1000 storms/madstone combo to greaat efficiency and so far I've peaked at missing a gr 31 by a few seconds. I still need to replace bad rolls on 4-5 items and also to get a SoJ so I'm fairly confident i can go at least 35 if not higher with good rolls :)
    Experimentation with gear and especially skills (even the more ridiculous experiments) can turn out to blow your mind and turbocharge your progress :)

    What I want to say is, to a certain degree I agree that RNG is a huge factor - the rift layout, the monsters, the density, the packs affixes etc. However, the loot you find is up to you to use the best way you can (which I did and I'm doing fine). I'm at gr 31 without trying to progress more than just for fun once now and then. Do not despair my friend :)

    In my opinion 2 handers aren't the problem. The problem with 2 handers feeling underwhelming consists of two aspects. The first being that the resource generation system works poorly on some classes which is made even worse when using a slow 2 hander, although you spend it slower once you run out of resource you're in big trouble unless all passives, gear etc is selected to give max resource efficiency virtually making these builds have very little leeway. It's even worse for classes starting at 0 resource at the start of combat (see barbarian).
    The second aspect is 2 handers with Blizzards current design (you can argue whether it should change or if its fine) catering to fewer builds/skills than dual wielding/one hand+offhand and people do not know how and when 2 handers outshine one handers. It's completely true that 2 handed builds are few and far between compared to many other builds using the straight forward one hand + offhand or dual wielding combo but some of this is in my opinion also caused by the lack of creativity and knowledge of game mechanics.

    I'm not saying 2 handers are perfect and as viable as they could be. I'm honestly thinking they can, should and eventually will be improved but I don't believe the big problem is the 2 handers themselves it's the way the resource and skill system interacts with 2 handers thats the culprit.

    On a side note the 2 hander category needs some more compelling legendary effects which I'm positive will come at some point to improve on this subject too.

    Picking up mostly blues and legendaries makes you end up with a good amount of dust from looting drops and a great deal of yellows from kadala. This seems pretty even to me when im doing it. Also opening chests is a good way to get guarenteed blues however they're pretty much just opened due to the high drop rate of legendaries imo.

    Dumb shit done by blizzard tbh. Its fine that its there from the start, but you should be told that the option exists as you've unlocked all 6 skill slots or maybe just at 30 when you have unlocked all skills to incentivise playing around with weird skills/gear combos. Right now it's pretty much in the dark and it keeps A LOT of players from progressing as they're locked to certain skill layouts.

    Doesn't work as the ability has to spend resource in order to trigger the 50% bonus damage. No resource spent = no bonus damage added after the trigger.

    This has been proposed before by others and myself included. It's a simple and good fix which should've been there from the get-go to be honest.

    Make sure you swing by the official forums too and suggest it. If a lot of players suggest it it's gonna be put in the game no doubt as the current dev team actually listens to players and feedback and USE it.

    Perfect solution. Add a confirmation dialog like when you've killed Malthael which you can decline if you do not want to exit to the menu yet. Everyone in the game has to confirm in the dialog if they want to close the rift (this dialog comes up when someone talks to Orek after the rift guardian has been killed).
