And actually, you can do this easily. Just turn down music to 0 :D

Hahahahahaha! Yes, that's for those who dislike the not-so creepy music! All you hear is the sound effects...

i dont know if this has been said, but how about adding characters from warcraft. since both games are in a world called sanctuary, wouldnt it be a bit better if the two could meet? maybe they all live in a giant world, where the lands are seperated by oceans.

Heck no, nothing from Warcraft... no integration of the worlds, maybe some few references here and there (objects/weapons named after things in Warcraft and some NPCs named after Warcraft characters) but that's it!

All Blizzard should do is keep the references to their other games to a minimum and definitely no mixing of the 2 games...

the only thing i'd be pissed about d3 would probably be that it would have 8 installation discs :X

    [new to the forums :D]

Nah... Diablo III wouldn't be as complex as WoW to have 8 or so discs... It'll most like be at the most 2 DVDs or the equivalent of 4 - 8 discs, so basically it'll be in DVD format maybe dual-layer to avoid the 2nd disc who knows...

Longer, I doubt. Worse result, most likely.
What we can be very certain of is that D3 will, with absolute certanity, not be an MMO so long as WoW is going steady (which it will for years).

Yes, I feel that a Diablo III would fill the void of single player, whilst having the same free battlenet that it's predecessors had. It seems logical that Blizzard would go and make this simply because of the lack of single player in WoW and the similar (yet greatly different) themes of WoW and Diablo.

I also agree that without WoW there'd be a real long time before any D3 or Starcraft 2 were to emerge.

As for a Starcraft 2, I'd be certain that they'll at least make this to try out new ideas and techniques in RTS graphics and gameplay, as well as integrating the stories of the novels and giving the fans what they want after the failed Starcraft: Ghost.

Well, I played D1 even before I knew bout D2. it was classic if u ask me. but seemed to lack in so many things that D2 has.

Just as Diablo II has lacking many of the things that makes Diablo I the classic...

Ya know, more scary monsters, the ability to save on the spot... etc...

yeah! For example in the homeland of the barbs you'll find more melee weapons and in the homeland of rogue/amazon more ranged weapons
and when you are a amazon/rogue the mercs are cheaper for you in your own land

something like this would be handy for finding items you need

Well yes that and the fact that townsfolk are more friendlier towards you, provide cheaper items (without you requiring to complete the assigned quest) offer more helpful quest advice etc...

Likewise you should have a better knowledge of your home region upon visiting it.

Well here's my list of ideas... (some already been said, others new and some thought of by others)

Well some of you may have already noted of my idea about "Region" based play... (similar to the Acts in Diablo II, but greatly expanded upon)

    - Not all Regions possess the same levels, some are short, others are long.
    - Regions should not only be confined to 1 town/city, but perhaps 1-3 towns/cities.. definately not more than 3, these would most likely be within the "acts" in these regions.
    - Characters should have a home region (which is essentially that all characters would begin at the start of the game, available to all, but when returning to their home region/town/city, they should be able to have benefits such as lower prices, a good familiarity of the region, more helpful information regarding quests etc...
    - Regions should be more like historical regions in medieval times (Western European, Arabian, Asian, Meso-American (Though being their fictional counterparts) Perhaps a Northern - Western European style region for an expansion? )
    - The towns/cities for each region would be based upon historical cities and places for example (a town in Europe would be based upon an English town, whilst a city would be based upon a central European city of the middle ages)
some other examples: (Though given it's fictional names, and can even be based on those of Diablo II)
    - Return of the cties in Diablo II
    - Kurast for the Meso-American region, as well as town cities within the region
    -
Lut Gholein for the Arabian region, as well as other towns/cities within the region
    - Northern - Eastern European style village/city for an Expansion. (Nordic Region)
    - Tristram should return as a town, but abandoned like a ghost town, where you would venture through a somewhat different version of the haunted church in a sort of mini-quest or act.
    - Maybe even the inclusion of the main city in the Kingdom of Khanduras? (Khanduras City) King Leoric's castle? (With levels going both upwards and downwards)
    - Arabian region should be more like the Middle East of the Middle Ages (yes, there was Egypt in the Middle Ages, being under the Arabs, but it should be more like Arabia as opposed to the Egypt/Arabia we see in Diablo II (theres not to say that a little of Egypt can't be added :) ))
    - Meso-American region towns/cities would be more accurate towards the civilizations of the Aztec and Mayans (What I mean is that there should be very little metal based weaponry in this region and more clubs, obsidian blades etc (one quest could be to look for some metal to bring back to town so that it could be created into metal based weapons, or that the trading of any of your metallic weapons from previous regions could allow for the future creation of metal weapons)
    - Regions should be mostly restricted to basic and regional based weapons (ie. It seems silly to see claymores in act III, though not entirely inaccurate...)
    - Weapons traded in one region that is from another region (ie, non indignenous) should be worth more gold
    - The ability to haggle! (if you believe that something is worth too expensive, you should be able to haggle the price down as opposed to being all Brian like and attempting to buy it on the spot (traders in town would be able to bring the price down depending on how much they like you or know you))
    - More dungeon based levels like the original Diablo.

    - Monsters and enemies in general should drop only the following: potions, scrolls, gold and as for weapon/armor it should be only what they are currently possessing. (and should be restricted to the highest durable item, plus being a normal - great weapon (with the exception of "boss" enemies))
    - Likewise little creatures, bugs, flie swarms etc should not possess anything!
    - Enemies that do not use weapons should not drop any weapons (other items maybe)
    - No little ape men, swarms of flies, bugs etc...
    - Enemies should not be immune to other enemy attacks, (if they get hit by a stray arrow, or by fire etc... they should still get some damage) unless of course they are immune to them (such as being immune or resistant to fire)

    - You should be able to hire more than one mercenary (based upon your current level of course)
    - You should be able to hire mercenaries in groups. (level based too)
    - You should be able to hire from rag-tag mercenaries to well trained soldiers.
    - Mercenaries should be smarter, you should be able to order your mercenary(ies) to explore, explore defend, explore attack or follow, follow defend. follow attack.
    - Mercenaries that can cast spells should have a mana counter which slowly regenerates
    - Mercenaries (especially those with magic attacks) should still be able to attack (using their weapons) at close range... (yes they do this in Diablo II, but to me, it seems that they don't do it enough)
    - You should be able to offer potions to mercenaries for healing

    - Rejvination potions should be sent to belts when picked up like mana/health potions
    - Mana, health and any rejuvination potions that you may have in your inventory should auto go to your belt when there is room
    - If you are attempting to pick up an item, but have no "room" in your inventory, (essentially the items in your inventory in arranged as such that there is no space to place the item but when rearranged, the item can be placed) items inside the inventory should be able to rearrange automatically to fit the newly picked up item.

    - Return the ability to save on the spot! Sure, when you save and quit after death and open up the game again, your corpse is in town... but you gotta fight a whole bunch of enemies again just to get to your last location!
    - The ability to save without quitting
    - The ability to load a previous saved game
    - The ability to have your corpse returned to town upon revival, at a price...
    - More of those "classic" shrines, like the ones that give you potions, the level map, gold etc...
    - It would be nice to see some generic spells available to all return, along with the spell books

Quests based from Monty Python and the Holy Grail Would be nice!

    Such quests would include:

    - Knights who say Ni! (In order to pass the path the knights are blocking, you must give them a shrubbery)
    - The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog
    - Quest for the Holy Grail (where the reward would be the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch)

Perhaps some other references to the Holy Grail? Maybe upon visiting King Leoric's castle for the first time, it's inhabitants (wether they'd be soldiers or undead) go through a rousing rendition of Knights of the Round Table.

Ok that's what I've thought of for now... maybe I'll add a few more ideas in the future...

I'd prefer more of Diablo II graphics. Advanced of course, where models and scenery and such are rendered in 3D and placed within the isometric view of Diablo II. This would allow for more realistic looking maps with curved rivers, rockfaces, walls and such...

Another good idea would be to allow zoom in (perhaps into proper 3D form, but that's not really necessary) Plus, another good idea would be to have a rotating function which would rotate the camera view... (Since the models would be rendered in 3D it shouldn't be much a problem) D3 in 3D, it's only logical. :)

Elf? Skeleton? Well let me be the first to ridicule that proposal... everyone here knows that they want to have humans only.... Heck, don't even have elves as enemies.

seems like a lot of needless game mechanics to do that. Diablo doesnt have "unlockable" chars, all chars are available from the begining, D3 will repeat this.

I suppose, I guess all characters will probably start from a base region/area or even some sort of beginners camp or something like that... so hows about having each regional character gain/have a bonus/distinct advantage when visiting his/her region?

Here's a thought, how about regional characters and base characters? Base characters would be standard characters, within each class available to all, whilst regional characters can only be unlocked once a base character has visited that region?

Though when playing multiplayer, all character classes are available... or partially available depending on which regions you have visited...

The main regions I can think of would be European, Arabian, Asian and possibly Central/Meso-American...
