Jun 22, 2013Sounds a bit weird to me. Rend needs CHD, it doesn't need AS. However Bloodshed needs high APS and you won't get that with a 2h weapon. Even dual wielders should have big amounts of AS on most gear pieces for Bloodshed to work properly.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Whatever works for you man, i don't mean to tell you how to play, but the word viable needs definition here, because in general, i would call almost any random build viable nowadays. I wouldn't call a 2h mighty rend build effective.
Also, the 'good roll' on IK weapon is close to 200% CHD, if you must use it.
Glad you're having fun with you build though
Jun 20, 2013Don't want to sound like an ass but this build has been around since 1.0.3 or maybe earlier and guides were written and discussed and almost nothing has changed about it since thenPosted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
There are different variants of it, but you got the basic build. The minor variations are : use into the fray when you dont have -WT items, use bloodshed or marauders rage if you do and Ancient Spear can be interchanged with different abilities such as HotA. Theres also a SS-Rumble version which is meant for AOE with Mighty Throw for fury gen. I guess the most recent one was with bloodshed/hota-smash/mighty weapon in MH
Also you should know that WT rage cost cannot be reduced to less than 1, therefor you need -4 on 1 item and -5 on the other to be capped. These items can be IK belt, SoJ, Mara's, Skull Grasp
If you browse these forums for 2 mins you will find at least 2 WT guides

Well to be honest, it is working as intended + i don't really mind that Thunderstrike doesn't work with 1 or 2 weapons, but objectively, maybe it should.
You can try to open a thread about it on battle.net forums and see where it goes, if it bothers you

...problem proc'ing Stun with Hammer of the Ancients (Thunderstrike), while using the Sever ?
Yep. I suspect the reason it doesn't work is because its actually Sever (its unique affix to be precise), that kills the mob, not HotA. The stun works only if the mob is killed by HotA.
edit: and yes, i have tested it myself :), got 0 stuns

At some point Blizzard said they'd increase the percentage of class-specific item drops, not sure if that applied to legendaries as well (or legendaries only).
This is exactly what i wanted to post. It applies to every quality iirc.
Jun 14, 2013The build you are using is outdated. Try adding HotA-Smash and kill elites with that. You'd get better results farming lower MP, but it's up to you how you want to play. Increase your strength, its rather low.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Jun 13, 2013How about a well rolled IK helm?Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
You'd gain the 2set + melee reduct. and upto 6% crit chance, which is better than the AS for you. Could go resists or str+vit random roll.
If you don't want to spend too much on IK chest, at least get similar to waht i have (195+ str, 90+ vit, 800+ armor, usefull random roll), just because its super cheap.
Use a calculator and determine if you would like to switch your rare pants for Innas and Climbers w/o MS, but high vit. Also check how much would you benefit from STR zuni boots. Combine, compare and snipe.
Jun 11, 2013Turtel posted a message on Starting playing barb again wondering what to upgradeYeah a better shoulder would be awesome, GL with it.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
You should definitely get a bit more HP and if you still keep dying, just go for more all resist and/or maybe some physical. Those never hurt.
Also, pay attention to what kills you most often, then counter it. For example, fire kills - get fire resist or all resist. There are stats against anything (elite/melee/ranged reductions, resist/armor, HP). Sometimes 1 item makes a difference. Personally for me Litany does the trick, i hold on to it eventhough i could get a supercheap dps upgrade, but it keeps me alive
Jun 11, 2013Turtel posted a message on Starting playing barb again wondering what to upgradeCan't see why are you dying. Your defenses seem to be just very slightly low if you drop War Cry (i'd try to get 2-4k more HP), but you have excess LS and with War Cry even the HP should be fine. Getting more DPS will increase you healing even further.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I have a feeling changing playstyle might do the trick. Did you try to play w/o shout, with HotA instead? Or Brawler passive?
Jun 11, 2013Heh. Slightly off-topic, but looks like you've got responses from all types of players already.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
You can look at both extremes:
Maka with no AH at all http://eu.battle.net...file/Maka-2582/
Jeatch with the use of both AHs, flipping and whatnot http://us.battle.net...61/hero/4136297
then there's me with buying from GAH only, but flipping http://eu.battle.net...2422/hero/85010
and NoSignToLife who claims he flipped for only 30m, which i would ignore and count as none http://eu.battle.net...ignToLife-2415/
All of us having over 75k elite kills at least, except Maka, which is understandable with his no-AH chars, but i assume he plays since release (?).
Quite the contrast, naturally.
Obviously, this is the smallest sample you can get, but i bet its not very far from what you get on average from all the different playstyles (AH-wise) with a similar amount of killing done.
Jun 11, 2013WW still beats any other build in leveling speed, but there are many variants of it, and other builds are still very solid. I guess it depends on your playstyle in the end and since gearing is extremely similar for all barb builds, with few exceptions like specific SoJ and weapons, I'd suggest trying out different builds yourself and picking the one that fits you.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
If you could describe your expectations or desires from a barb, you'd get a more specific advice
Jun 11, 20131 item with high all resists and 1 with extra physical would do it in my opinion. Str is what i would focus on right now if i was you, but just stack all dps stats in general as well.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
With you build, EF in off-hand would be a better solution, but that's up to you. A 1h weapon can have max 3% LS. What i meant with 5% was total LS (that's any combination of 2 from the following: weapon or both; bloodthirst; belt). You have 5.6% right now, so that is enough healing, like i said before.
Jun 11, 2013Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's KeepQuote from Balyn
If I counted right you have about 310 ar, which is very low, so get more.
I counted 424. (intellect, set bonus...)
@OP Like Luiquao said.... GEMS. The ones you have are awful and your STR is super low anyway (therefor armor too), so get more of it everywhere. Your EF doesn't even have it. Also go for 0.24+ APS on it.
5% LS should be enough. If you swap some HP for more resists, you'll be better off.
You are missing MS. Get Lacunis with crit or Zuni boots with Str/AR

I know why people craft gear; hell, I do it myself. I was just wondering why (and how) people keep track of exactly (or approximately) how many pieces they have crafted.
Could be different reasons.
-it tells you how many essences have you acquired since 1.0.7
-some ppl like to say 'i got this item after xx crafts'
-you can estimate how much gold have you spent on crafting
and silimar reasons.
Not that it is particularly useful to keep the count on completely random crafts . I guess it's just a 'fun fact'?
^ talking about the BoA items
When it comes to crafting weapons though, keeping count is useful in determining whether it's worth to keep doing it, considering the rewards. Although you could judge that also by getting the data from ppl who already crafted a bunch
Jun 8, 2013Posted in: Theorycrafting and AnalysisQuote from maka
How do you people keep track of how many pieces you have crafted?
Mostly just guessing.
Also, some ppl like to hoard a big number of essences, like 500, then craft all at once. That way its easy to remember how many times you've done that.
Jun 6, 2013You can easily get 20 more str and over 100 armor from chest for a few mils. If you don't care about MF you could get similar to what i got. Lacuni with 6% crit or a craft with very high str and some EHP. Keep crafting amulet. Rest is expensive, but still possible to find within budget. Also, gems are a 1 time investment, so you ought to think about that.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
If you go for crafted bracer, Zuni boots are a great way to go for MS and DPS.
Jun 5, 2013Looks like you've just started the char and by the looks of it, you don't have a big budget, more info from your side would help...Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Since i assume you have next to no gold, you can start with some IK (Immortal King) pieces. Boots, chest and belt with basic rolls all go for very cheap. Try to get physical resist or maybe fire on boots and chest, some vit on belt with 190-199 str. If you want to use andariel's, get a STR version obviously and don't take anything over 7% fire dmg. Otherwise IK with 6% crit. Hell you can even go for 5 set.
Grab a Litany of the Undaunted with avg dmg or life%/vit, 7% elite reduction. Save up for an Echoing Fury for your OH if you can.
Other than that, just increase all stats, try to get 50+% crit chance or so, some AS and CHD where you can. STR needs to go above 2k ASAP, which will give you some armor too. In the future, you will want at least 1 weapon with LS, for now LoH is fine. Defenses depend on MP, but long term you're aiming at 40+k HP, about 500 resists, 5% LS.
If it turns out you do have enough gold to make bigger purchases, the advice would be different.
Jun 5, 201393% was what i was able to achieve with a shield too. At 80% something strange starts happening, jsut like Kaoskadosk was saying.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
When i set up my crit chance from gear for 79.5% additional 1% (or any amount) only took me to 80%
My findings w/o WotB and 74% from gear+passives:
Battle rage + scoundrel active (80% crit chance), OP takes me to 83% (Revenge does the same)
If i remove battle rage, but keep scoundrel (77% ), OP takes me to 80%.
If i remove scoundrel, but keep battle rage (77%), OP takes me to 83%.
If i remove both (74%), OP takes me to 80%
I was testing this in town, tripple checked.
Conclusion: Gear, set bonus,
passivesweapon master, scoundrel, OP and Revenge are capped at 80%75%, BR and WotB are not.+Ruthless
93% hard cap.
I assume HotA crit from fury goes to 100%, but i should test that.
This would mean killing spree is not worth using at high crit chance values, because you get its full potential 'only' up to 73% with BR+scoundrel or 73% with BR+enchantress. It's probably still worth it for less than 10%, but not sure at what point other ability would be better.
Obviously, these are not problems that barbs regularly have.

Yeah you should be fine with only swapping weapons. Mighty in MH with LS, socket, CHD, possibly str (hard to find a good one) and EF in OH.
Jun 4, 2013Even though i always tend to notice first what's missing or wrong (cold res could've been AS, this or that should be higher), I really am happy about these 2, which i both got in the last batch of 60-70 essences.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

my damage is definetly higher with swords. i got the crit soft cap without using axes or maces. that is why i am using swords as they provide a better bonus
I still think an EF with +0.25 APS and high str in OH would outdps your sword. No idea what your budget is, but i consider LS EF expensive, so you could try one with 220+ str and close to 1200dps and have LS on MH + bloodthirst, since you can't afford a dps upgrade with LS.
May 30, 2013With about 5% LS you shouldn't have any troubles surviving, as long as your defenses are good.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
3% or less is problematic on certain elites, especially reflect + something else like electrified for example.
There are better passives than Bloodthirst imo.
Did you consider different weapons? Echoing Fury OH, rare mace in MH, axe?
You could try to search different stats on the weapon. If the dps and crit dmg are high enough, you can drop the str or a different combination of 2 high stats and 1 lower. Use a calculator to find out.

Also, since i'm using the belt, i realized i don't need IK helm for 2-set, so i settled for an all res Visage, gaining 10-11k dps over IK helm.
May 17, 2013First of all, throw that spear away if you don't play a weapon throw build, put the EF in your OH and buy a mace or axe for MH. It should have high dps, socket and high crit dmg, possibly str depending on what you can afford.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I see you are going for Nat's 2 set, but it's only worth it in my opinion, if you actually get crit chance on the ring. Craft some shoulders, they can roll way more str than what you have now. Since you have enough MS, you should try to craft bracers too.
When all that is done, keep upgrading your str and crit dmg.
Your defenses are great and you will gain more armor as str goes up. Your HP is just about perfect, resists are great, if you lose some it's still okay.

Why do people even buy unid legendaries is beyond my understanding. Haven't we known since release how to check an item's properties even before id'ing it (unless this has changed with a patch and I missed it)?
It's pretty obvious you're not going to find a Crit Chance Mempo among those "unidentified" ones.
Just my 2 cents. Maybe someone can give me a different perspective on this matter.
The first exploit in being able to check unid items was fixed a long time ago, and the second one where you ID it on PTR and then sell unid on live realms also got fixed awhile back.
Was there even such a bug? The only one i know of was a way to check the number of affixes (4,5 or 6), so it had nothing to do with legendaries anyway.

To finish the list, helm can roll 300 Int and belts 300 Str. That makes 2 high primary items for each class.
Craftable items include 1 high primary item for each class (shoulders for barbs and gloves for others)
May 16, 2013Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from Jaetch
Anyway, even if an item is worth 10M gold and ends up being 100M (which I honestly do not anticipate happening anytime soon, if at all), then that only means the gear that you're currently wearing will gain value as well. That just means the next drop you get that would be worth 10M, would be worth 100M instead. Problem?
Now I also want to point out that it's usually high-end gear that gets affected most by changing conversion rates. Low and mid-tier gear will constantly be floating around in the market. And as players continue to find such gear, which is all the time, the market will be consistently saturated and players will continue to undercut each other in order to make faster sales. There won't be much of a difference compared to pre-1.08 because of the whole supply-and-demand concept. Low and mid-tier items are constantly recycled amongst players. High-end gear, however, are usually stuck on players for longer durations because upgrades at that level are hard to come by. Thus, those individual gear values will continue to rise over time until new and better types of gear enter the market.
This pretty much sums up my thoughts on topics like these and leaves only 1 remaining ... problem. For some people it is a problem at least: The gold you had pre-patch loses its value (though it matters how much you had/what are you spending it on). Other than that, not many changes for the average player.

Oh man. Sorry you spent 500 essences for nothing, but like others said, only STR can roll 300 on shoulder.
Here, check the max stats of all items so you know for the future : http://www.d3maxstat...es&layout=slots
Based on that you can tell how high any stat rolls on crafts except the one that's in the name of craft. The pre-selected stat will max roll 330 on each slot and 380 on amulet.
In your case shoulder of Vitality = 330 vit and any other stats according to the links.

The only thing I have against the game is their lack of action against dupes/bots.
It is Blizzard who affects the prices because as soon as they are going to lower the floor for gold on RMAH, the gold will start selling at the lowest possible price.
This IS an action against bots. Well it's a band-aid.

Can you explain the Spint/Marathon to me? Is it just to gather mobs faster to keep ToC going, or is there some other secret use?
I'm sticking to my DW Thunderstrike build with Marathon, ToC , Into the Fray as basis and adjusting the rest based on setup/gear of others.
Edit: and how do stay alive? Just from the life steal?
Edit2: This is my char: http://eu.battle.net...635/hero/241816 - any advice is extremely appreciated.
There's nothing to the Marathon rune, i jsut use it because i like it for the increased duration, which saves me fury and slightly increased run speed (10% more than base sprint). I keep that rune for myself selfishly. I have 1 or 2 slots however, free to choose an ability to help the group if its needed. Something from the list Strafir wrote down. It depends on MP and the group, if i take any group ability. If the grp is strong enough, i go pure dps with Killing Spree or so.
I keep myself alive with lifesteal and heavy resist/armor to mitigate the dmg and hopefully with timed health globes, if the grp plays well. You probably see me with only 1 LS item in profile now, but i always advise 2 LS items, which should give you the perfect amount (5-6%).
edit: i'd rather avoid gear checks in this thraed, because i like it and would hate it to go off-topic too much ^^

Either way, you can upgrade your str on them nicely. It depends on what's your plan for future upgrades in general.
May 11, 2013Turtel posted a message on What should I craft, or: How much better can it get?Crafting a Vit shoulder is not a bad idea at all, since it can still roll 300 str but vit can go upto 330 (instead of 330/200 from STR version). It allows you to ignore Vit on items which have more than 1 dps stat. Obviously it takes longer on average to craft a good pair of vit shoulders, but in my opinion worth it in the long run.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Having said that, Strafir is right about your HP, its quite a bit higher than you need.

The option to hide all labels is already there, i'd like an item quality filter.
You could still pick up the item without the label by clicking on the item on the ground, which is much smaller than the label itself and the major reason to pickup items by accident.
Just a tip, when i have a big amount of items on the ground around the mob i want to target with left click, i shift+click not to pick up anything. Requires to be in position obviously.

hmm i guess i over looked this also i guess i can make whimsey second then fom third then walk to cemetary and wheeping hollows. but also you should know the elite in the cemetary isnt garunteed its a random spawn
Yep i know that, edited it out before you even said, but that doesn't really matter. I haven't looked at whisey yet, but there are plenty of places to get a fast stack

just make either whimsey or wheeping hollow your second location in this run.
Why wheeping hollow 2nd? You want 5 stacks there since it has i don't know... 500 mobs? It should go after fields of misery, since they are connected - just run to the south when you're done in fields, through the cementary.

The only restriction that would work at least to an extend, would be that players would only be allowed to join public games on same or lower MP as they finished solo. The difficulty 'unlocking' could be act based (need to complete whole act start to finish solo) or otherwise. No other restriction method i can think of does any good.
edit: which is what the OP suggested i read now
Not only is this very inconvenient, but you don't need to be able to clear it solo to do well in co-op. Playing at +1 or even +2 of your solo MP is not a bad idea considering how much easier multiplayer is.
Meh... maybe, but you would only have to do it once, on highest mp you can take, then maybe do it again once you upgrade. + what Starburst above me said

May 9, 2013Yeah definitely looks new to me. The branching occured before 1.0.8 yes, but the exit would have been in the lower part. Around where it says 'Heart of Sin' in the objectives under minimap, or further that direction.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It's a lot more similar to crater 1 now.

LOL i thought this was the solution from Blizzard to make the End game last longer!
i even heared will be playing for months to get to paragon 100!!!!!
oh boy...... so we are back to 0 now again right? we have 300% MF but no point killing and wondering arround besides hoping for some good items.....and after a while you will find the best items whats the point of playing if you are not earning anything not even fun???
what sell the item to RM action house.... yeah right, let me tell you this even if you put 1$ item most of the time they dont sell, the Gold AH work the RL, sucks.....
so what the point after end game now????
you seem to be just... so ... clueless.
Have fun reading posts in few weeks from average players about how long it takes to 100 it needs to be nerfed hurr im not even 30 yet it takes too long ...
Alkaizer knew exactly what he was doing and he invested almost 300 hours in it which is not even close to the amount of time avg person will need.
