I'm so tired of seeing people complain about this. As someone with great gear I have nothing to spend my money on than the top of the line gear. That being said, the upgrades are always quite expensive. That is why the VERY top of the line gear is worth so much. Don't claim that the new legendary (Manticore with 2 sockets and high crit damage) isn't much more than a 2k dps upgrade. That upgrade would be massive. 15-20k more damage to someone with excellent gear. With great gear (high crit on a DH), the crit damage improves damage that much more.
As far as weapons go, I just posted a couple weapons up today that I had previously purchased for 50-75million each for lower than 30million. I was lucky and found a new 1h axe this morning with 966.4 Damage, over 100 strength, 97% crit, and a socket - thus I'm selling off the old one. I'm sorry but what do you want? My weapon that allowed my WW barb to stomp through Act 3 for 25million is too much for you? That one is on you then. As someone who made all their gold legitimately, mostly via crafting and looting, I am tired of this complaint.
I do not understand where you expect gold to go. Gold has no large removal in our economy. AH cuts are hardly enough. Not enough when you factor in repair costs which casuals complained about so much that they reduced them AGAIN. So considering that gold never leaves the economy, and that items never leave the economy, the only result can be high prices for the top tier items as the best players spend a lot in order to obtain them, and a trickle down item flow when they give their hand me downs to the next tier of players and so forth until bad players get good items for pennies compared to their original values.
tldr: Auction house is functioning normally. Not everyone should get the best gear.
