posted a message on No Unique Drops ...
A lot of games (MMO/RPG) have tons of RNG related things to them. Raiding in MMOs or even basic dungeons at end game hoping for that RNG of the item you want to help you progress then hoping you win the roll. RPGs, item drops/enchanting/crafting. RNG plays a massive role in a lot of games now.

Simple example of devils luck vs no devils luck.

I have 3 level 60 characters, 1 act 2, 1 act 3, 1 act 4 Inferno My DH with over 200hrs played, Barb with roughly 130hrs or so and a Monk with like 50hrs. If we take into account every legendary/Set I have had drop. Its 1 Nats chest 2 Inna Legs (Legacy at this point) and randomly assorted 10 legendary pieces (Legacy), then 1 Inna Pants and 10 assorted Legendary pieces (non-Legacy two best being Band of Hallow Whispers and Wedding Band). Total Time Played - 380hrs roughly. Roughly 20 Legendary items and 4 set. Oh and Bitterness legendary WD offhand lvl 28? recipe so 21 legendary things.

My friend has a 59 barb and a 60 WD. Total Time played - unknown. What I do know is he hit 60, got to Act3 Depths and got 5 legendary drops (non-legacy) in 5 runs with 0 MF minus like 2 Paragon levels and a set piece.

Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck. My DH ran Act1 with 3xx% MF and thats where I got most of my non-legacy legendary drops. I abandoned this for Act3 Depths and 230%+ MF (up to around 275 now from Paragon lvls) due to lackluster legendary items in Act 1 loot tables.

Magic Find helps, it does and I will admit it. But its still about luck as well. Me and another friend love our MF, my exampled friend and another run with 0 MF except for when it just happens to come on an upgrade and paragon levels. Me n monk get fair amount of drops with MF (hes at 375 with stacks), the no MF duo get almost the same amount of drops as we do. Go figure.

RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG luck luck luck luck luck luck.

I would be scared if the no MF duo had 375 MF :| their luck is crazy.

Keep farming, its all us luckless wonders can do.

posted a message on Keeping Diablo alive (AH breaking the game?)
The AH doesnt break the game, either gold or RMAH. Why you might ask? Simple.

    Example time.

    Diablo 2.

Trading Games existed and half of them were just people stealing other peoples stuff anyways.

    Diablo 3.

Remove the AH and trading games would still exist without a generalized market standard so people would be paying hugely more than what they are now and vastly less as well. The only difference would be Diablo 3 has a safer "Trade" function installed to it.

    End of Example.

Did the retards catch on yet? No?

    D2 - Scamfest
D3 - Safer/Easier trades due to AH even with the 15% tax. Dont want that tax? USE THE DAMN TRADE CHANNEL.

Iv farmed Act1-3 inferno, found very few upgrades, found several useless legendaries that some poor suckers liked on AH, found 2 Inna's Refuge and 1 Nat's Shadow. Have over 100hrs on two different characters and im burnt. I cant stand playing my DH, a oneshot wonder glasscannon is fun to me but when those 1shots happen because I found upgrade boots without IMS so now everything and its mother is faster than me, its sad. My barb is stuck in Act1 even with 10.5k armor and 599 being lowest resist. Iunno, some reason D2 just felt...better to me. Even if you were undergeared and easily killed, you could atleast kill things in Hell. You had that random chance of finding something but in Inferno on D3 its just like "You wants phat lewtz? Go AH scrub! Not our fault you no farm with GF set in royal crypts like other pooneaters! inflation is bitch, yes?" or some bullshit. Iunno, guess when I farm for 12hrs a day and get nothing remotely close to an upgrade or even good for a fresh 60 or sellable Legendaries/Set pieces sometime is wrong. 302% MF on my DH and I can literally get nothing in a day off SB runs.

I just want a bone every day, it doesnt even have to be a meaty bone, but just something to keep me wanting to come back. This game doesnt seem to have it currently and near future isnt looking overly promising considering most legendaries suck and 1.1 isnt due til months end.

So im taking a break and if you are feeling the same way, take a break as well. Its just how it is and you shouldnt force it. Just like taking a crap, forcing it is bad, mmkay?

Or drag one/both groups to an already explored area that you dont need to go down and leave them there, successfully skipping them, progressing through the quest and not going through 1-3 full repairs.

I liked the Supression Fire on Evasive Fire while leveling up and finishing off Hell. 3shots, good damage, awesome looking animation and if anyone gets close to you, you jump backwards. I even used this on Diablo as a dick move whenever he tried to melee me. It works great in a lot of situations but sadly iv stopped using it in Inferno.

Honestly I think people need to stop asking other people for skill advice and just take the hours to try them out on their own. I dont mean this as an insult but you playstyle and my playstyle might be assbackwards. I have a friend I met in D3 and they re-rolled from DH to Barb and I went from Barb -> DH. Not everyone has the same playstyle or patience to tolerate a glass-cannon. Everyone is different. Find out on your own whats best for you.

posted a message on Which Places to Farm in Inferno Act 1, 2, 3 and 4
Act1 - I start off hitting Crypts to ensure as many stacks as possible before even hitting Agony 2. Side note - I got my only good item from these runs in Crypts (Nat chest piece with above avg stats)

EDIT: Also if you cannot get to Warden/Butcher due to fresh in Inferno, Crypts + Skelly King. If this is too hard as well, there are some easy dungeons pre-Adria's Celler including it you can farm with random cellar openings and the mass-grave sometimes spawns and has a resplendid. There are elites/golds/goblins in these cellars that can help you gear up better than Hell farming.

Act2 - Magda runs starting after canyon (rituals) or ZK runs, start quest to kill him but then head to the north and south terminus areas (avoid shadow realm, glass cannons can be chewed apart in there) to build stacks.

Act3 - Siegebreaker Runs. After killing him the first time, start quest Kill SB, teleport to last WP (should be 2nd bridge) get Tyrael, now you have several options for stacks. 1 - Teleport back to keep, go out Arreat Gate then go down into Forti Bunker or Forti Barracks. Iv seen anywhere between 3-10 Elite/Champs + a Resplendid. 2 - Again Arreat Gate, then go outside and do event(s) that may spawn, search around here, there can be 1-2 "dungeons" and on top of one has a chance to spawn a Resplendid. The chest spawns on top of a flight of stairs, sometimes there are NPC guards that when you go up get jumped by leaping lepers that explode into poison clouds on death. Easy indicator if this chest is spawned, if the stairs are blocked by destructible blockade, chest is there, if not no chest. When you open this chest some winged molok come after you. 3 - Head to Bridge of Korrisk or w/e (ballista zone) and kill things. Whatever choices get 5 stacks, go back to last WP, do underbridge if its there (easy resplendid sometimes) then go kill SB.

Act4 - Havnt even tried it yet, will add anything later on you miss or just how I do it compared to you/others.

    posted a message on Sentry+Passives
So with the upcoming patch nerfing mob damage and increasing repair costs I was looking at some skills and passives.

Sentry with either heal or dmg reduction rune + custom engineer + numbing trap + jagged spike caltrops. This setup gives you a 40% dmg reduction flat as long as the mob is slowed and you are inside the radius of your sentry. Jagged spikes will cause constant dmg+slow, sentry does dmg+dmg reduction. Combine this with a moderate survival gear set and you can probably somewhat tank mobs with some +hp on hit or if you are doing enough dmg with nether tent you can use life-steal for crit burst regen. Lets not also forget we too can use shields with 1h xbows (though the dmg hit is hard, so not many people probably look into this).

Any thoughts? Suggestions? "haha your a retard" is a viable answer as well!

EDIT: If anyone has a survival gear-set laying about and would be willing to test this as is, I would like to hear the results. 40% dmg reduction is rather nice and with the custom engineering passive it doubles duration of sentry+caltrops reducing the overall cost of them in any prolonged fight.

I think the repair costs will balance the inferno nerfs to an extent. It's pretty clear they aren't out just to make it easier, but to provide a better kind of challenge. Now, if you work at it long enough, you can find the gear in Act I that you need for Act II. Which is the way it should be. And instead of throwing yourselves at mobs over and over, 15 times at a row, repair costs will be enough that eventually you have to cut your losses, go back to an earlier point and build back up your gold, and farm more gear.

All in all, I think it is going to be slightly easier, but still a challenge. Plus, its going to be a more balanced, fair challenge that will allow more enjoyable playstyles and more build diversity. Well done!

As for people whining that this is going to make inferno to easy, you are missing the point. Before you had to hit Act I, then farm gold until you could hit the auction hosue for gear good enough to do act 2. Or alternatatiely, you could go to II without adequate gear and die over and over trying to get enough ddrops to raise your survivability. It was not really about skill either way, but just an unenjoyable time sink, less fun than a traditional, more even difficulty and gear advancement curve. Plus, tanks will not be forced into overly defsnive roles at all times, and grouping will be a valid option.

    What's to complain about?
They are complaining because their e-peens are not going to "Grow stonger and stronger"
No, im complaining because I can kill Azmodan well enough, but champ packs can still faceroll me with the right affixes. Iv gotten lucky enough on Siegebreaker runs to not find painfully hard champs near his door but sometimes getting the NV stacks I do have to reset a game because of bad RNG and only getting 4 and every "dungeon" having things I cannot kill without graveyard-zerging. For glasscannon types there will ALWAYS be some champ somewhere you cannot kill without mass deaths, its just that simple. If I can I kill things without dying I damn well do it but its just not possible all the time. If I have to I will run a mob to some area iv explored, die and run past it just to progress. Cause god only knows Smoke Screen (stealth) is only good for dodging attacks cause mobs still track you more often than not.

Anyways, for Glasscannons the repair cost increase is gonna hurt or cause us to "reset" more games unless the mob nerfing causes survival stats to be viable.

As a 1shot glass cannon that cannot see every projectile flying at me...that repair cost increase is going to hurt...a lot. Otherwise I like the patch. Might have to beat my barb with a duster and see if hes viable without 10x the cost of my DH.

If they are increasing the repair costs, why not even out the gold drops? Kinda tiresome having 5 NV and seeing...1-3gold drops.....

It has nice burst and is easily placed while walking away from champs. Choke points make it wonderful. Stack 4 jagged caltrops and 3 spikes at same spot and you can insta-gib some of the weaker champs ^^

posted a message on Loss of interest due to loot drops?
Skip to last two paragraphs to bypass Rant. I recommend it and I am the author, thats how stupid it is ^_^

Here are some of my largest angst with D3.

Leveling up you find gear LOWER LEVEL THAN YOURSELF. At late 50s thats understandable. Anything before then its uncalled for bullshit.

You cannot teleport through acts with your Valor Buff and mindlessly farm the best people per game. If you start in Act3, 2 and 1 are locked to you until you leave game and start a new one and even if you start in Act1 the NV buff goes away with Act transfer.

Granted there are no "Immune to X" mobs anymore, there might as well be mobs that are "Immune to class X" types due to affixes they are given. Examples - Playing ranged kiter glasscannon getting Fast/Vortex/Reflect/Jailer....Melee getting Vamp/Reflect/Shielding/Fast (it hurts more than you may think) or even the heavy elem-types.

Legendary and Sets being next to useless in most cases (exceptions to the rule are there). It annoys me to no end when I I.D. a legendary and while the cast bar is going my only thoughts are "should I vend it or salvage it?"

Farming in Inferno Act2 Kulle and getting level 50 crap (not 60s with lvl reduction).

I cannot place the bots in chat channels on an ignore list.

Half my character skills are useless, most are locked because im not dropping my NV even if it would be more advisable to use skill B in boss fight than skill A.

The "Secret" level is a pos and serves almost no purpose (when farming to get into inferno with a barb I tried Whimsy and compared to Act3/4 its totally freaking pointless). It is good for leveling companions in...okay thats a lie, hell pony gets them roughly 300-400k xp and just dragging their corpse along an inf butcher run gets them like 1.2mill >_> Why is this here besides the sick enjoyment I get from dismembering unicorns and teddy bears?

Act-2 has a higher density of "GO AWAY YOU ANNOYING SHIT!" mobs than any other act and has one of the hardest end-act bosses. Swap Belial with Azmodan and giggle at how easy it would be to get past Act2 inferno than if say, its the way it is now >_<

Alright, I think im done with my rant. Sorry if you read it all, happy if you didnt, clapping if you agree.

In context to this thread while farming in Act1 with my DH and Barb I found a grand total of 2 upgrades, rest are AH. I found 1 upgrade with my DH in Act2 while progressing. While in Act1/2 Inferno I found a total of 7 Legendaries. 1 sold for 100k, 1 for 50k, rest went to a vendor after failing to sell or got salvaged because I found it a crueler fate for their uselessness. I have also found several recipes (to bad none with more than +4 stats) and 0 set pieces. Honestly might I suggest for other unlucky people...get a gold find set instead and just save yourself the excessive amount of runs for trash drops and gold.

The next several million gold I get is going towards a Gold Find set instead of a MF set. Ya, higher Mf I do get more rares. How many of those are good? beats me, i dont count. More gold find...mmmm if I can double-triple my gold a run I think I might enjoy myself some more just buying inflated prices.
