posted a message on PTR 1.0.8 Patch Notes
    So in short:

Nef to Act 3 farming while buffing Act 1,2 & 4 density. (Won't change much besides where people farm, doubt it will be a balanced choice either)

Now forced to play in a group for efficiency. (Due to the massive boost added and how gear is rolled based on MF it's just to good to pass up as it's individual loot. PoE at least have competative looting and only more quantity dropped in a party. Not to mention how awesome this change is for sweatshops and bots, gain more of everything for doing...nothing.)

Player created chat channels, sort of. (Still not real player created channels but some half assed temporary solution)

Friends list being less annoying. (Still no mens to remove reacent players manually, like, REALLY?)

Some minor balance changes one should expect every couple of weeks, not every few months apart.

I'm also flabbergasted by the greed shown by so many in this thread. They are complaining about loss of value of the items or deflation that ruins their well-oiled gold making machine. "Bad for you!" I say, good for the rest of us that want to find upgrades for our own use.

You do realize that a big portion of "the rest of you" will be complaining a week after the patch goes live that your new found legendary items not for your class is worth so little right?

    Quote from Fish
as we might finally get a chance to find a good legendary and/or set, and we can actually afford some of those well-rolled legendaries from AH which are atm hugely overpriced/ impossible to reach without getting good drops and selling them.

But your drops will be worth less and the top items will just be harder to reach, the only thing helped by increased drops in a AH economy is mid level gear, higher drop rate just moves the bar what's a good item and the almost good items gets more saturated.

This conversation, if anything, highlights the divide in the player-base's mindset that Blizzard is struggling with. There are those who think the AH is a natural extension of the game and thus the game must entice its use, and there are those who think the game has to be good even if the AH never existed and that using the AH will only spoil the experience. I'm starting to believe that making a Diablo game that compromises for both sides is impossible...

Oh, and if you're curious, I'm in the non-AH camp. So yeah, I like the change.

The problem with that is the simple fact that the AH is there and isn't going anywhere, both sides can argue about it all day long and that fact wont change. The compromise for both sides would have been to not have an AH while keeping the trade feature and let people sort it on third party sites and the likes, this would obviously remove any chance for Blizzard to get in on the profits, it would also bring the downside of no real gold sink something the current AH is very good at.

It only becomes an issue if the player refuse to use the AH, while there is nothing wrong with having that view of the game but at the end of the day it's a handicap the player imposes on him self. Personally I prefer having the AH, that way I can transform my drops to gold and then plan ahead what I want and keep looking for it until I find it, much better than using drops that is almost what you want but still not while hoping that another version of the same item drops with the correct affixes/good roll.

Not really, what's considered a good item that's worth tens of millions will change and we're back to the same position again.

While players will see more items the economy won't change much more than it will be harder to find what's considered average gear that sells for a few hundred thousands to a couple of millions.

Rares are the new blue and feel more a chore to pick up than anything else due to constantly increased drop rates (something that didn't solve the original issue of to wide ranges on high end affixes), lets not make legendary items take the same path, pretty please, with sugar on top.

In short, the rates are fine, I get 1-2 a day with around 2 hours of playing.

Yes, rates are fine, this would barely change the rates, it would simply make dry streaks less depressing, and not completely destroy players motivation to farm.

Actually it would increase the amount of legendary items dropped hence rates would be changed, while it doesn't seems like much on an individual level once you look at it from a larger perspective what's suggested will affect item values quite a bit if implemented.

A much larger problem is the wide affix ranges on high end rares combined with the quite ridiculous drop rate we have now it makes rares quite frankly uninteresting and a inconvenience to loot. The drop rates should never have been changed after the initial change to add the higher i-levels to all acts, instead the affixes should have been tightened to make it less of a lottery with rolling useful numbers on them.

The drop rate would not change a noticeable amount. The reason for there being more legendaries if this was implemented is because there are a lot more people farming these legendaries, and since these people who didn't farm before need their own legendaries still, the amount in the market would decrease not increase

Sure if you ignore people who have legendary items already and don't need the once they find, or majority of them at least, if you include them the market will be more saturated than it already is. You need to look at it from the perspective of a few hundred thousand players and not just the one.

I looked at Triumvirate - but the elemental damage calculation thing confuses me... should probably look into it though.

It's quite simple, your low end weapon damage gets increased by X%*2, the only confusion about it is that it only applies to physical damage hence you are best off using a black weapon with it for max effect, additional minimum damage on other items is included in the calculation as well.

However – the best Chantodo’s wand would be one with a socket to get 100% crit damage. If Chantodo's Will could have a socket and crit damage affix this would have been hands down the best.

This would be impossible, the wand only gets one random affix (game guide is incorrect on several legendary items).

I personally dropped the thought of Chantodo's set due to the fact that it only gets one random affix hence is unable to roll LoH or LS with a socket or CD, physical weapon with Triumvirate works much better in my opinion.

Is it known if the current 1 random rolls on chantodos are intended? Is the bug in the item itself or is it a typo in the guide?

No idea, not seen any blue post on the subject but would assume the error is on the website as some items that has the error would be insanely good if they got the amount of randoms that it suggest.

EVERYONE had those points. If i ever saw a 80+ barbarian without battle orders, i laughed at them. A necromancer without curses? You might as well reroll. Those didnt increase build diversity. This is the exact same as every barbarian using Warcry Impunity or every wizard using Energy Armor.

Build diversity is a pipe dream, I'm amazed that Blizzard hasn't learned that from 7+ years of WoW development.

It's pretty good right now, maybe not for all classes, but take Wizard:
They have choices between Archon builds, Arcane Orb builds, some Arcane Torrent builds surfaced lately, then there's Hydra/Blizzard builds, and Critical Mass builds (of both the Blades/Meteor and Twister variety (despite the fact it was slightly nerfed) )

Sure, Disintegrate never see daylight beyond leveling, but i wouldnt say that diversity isnt sucessful.

My point was more about the diversity that Blizzard is seeking at the moment, there will always be that one or two skills players choose, it's just our nature to figure out what's the most efficient and go with that, trying to balance all skills is as futile as trying to make WoW PvP balanced and worse it undermines the gear perfection end game.

To be able to get that high without the signet on the actual character, that's impressive.

Watched a bit last night and he answered that, it's simply more efficient for him to have SoJ on instead.

though something that "Adds X% [elemental] damage" doesn't (the elemental effect such as cold), for that you need an actual weapon attack to trigger.
That is because any skill that does a specific damage type cannot be changed. Only wizard skill that does physical damage and can be altered by a weapon's +Elemental Damage, is Spectral Blades. Witch Doctors are similar, having very few physical attacks. If an attack says it does Lightning Damage, nothing will ever change that (short of a Rune changing it).

Yeah I realize that's how it works, it was more of an observation on how poor of a design it is considering we can't bind our basic attack individually but would have to sacrifice one ability to be able to wand on demand kinda deal.

Well without creating balance between the stats there will always be one route that is more viable than the others, that's just the way it is, the only solution I see to the supposed problem is for Blizzard to add more diversity when it comes to gemming, give the option to use something other than 100% crit damage that is at least equally good.

I'm not being being condescending I'm being a hypocrite, remember?

So here we are, I've discredited everything else you've stated and you're dearly clinging to this one last bit which is nothing more than pure speculation from someone who's been repeatedly proven wrong in this thread.

Damn, I must have missed something here, you proved nothing, you claim that having a third party software performing a full gear switch with one button press to be OK according to Blizzard, feel free to provide a quote as proof.

    Quote from Sickness
We've already talked about how Blizzard has had the opportunity to take a stance and they have the tools to stop it.

They can change so we can't switch gear, besides that there is nothing they can do to prevent the use of this method, that they didn't do anything about it yet is proof of nothing, you assume things based on their inaction.

    Quote from Sickness
Blizzard is not in the habit of being slow to respond to issues they consider to be cheats/exploits, this should be pretty obvious.

We must be thinking of different companies then, it took them months to come up with an answer on the use of G15 keyboards.

    Quote from Sickness
So unless you've got something else to fall back on I suppose that's it, no?

Sure, go ahead and think it's OK to use a third party software to automatically switch your gear at the push of one button if it makes you feel better, me knowing that the very same software is used to bot with and having read the EULA that clearly states, Use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Game experience, including without limitation, mods that violate the terms of this License Agreement or the Terms of Use, and combing that with their view on G15 macros I'm confident that it's not within the rules.

And yes, you are a hypocrite for being OK with one and not the other, also a condescending prick. God day Sir!

It is against the rules to use a G15 keyboard to perform a sequence of actions with delays.

Is this clear enough for you to comprehend?

    http://wowarchive.yg...=28357794&sid=1

And having your mouse move and perform 13 clicks in less than 2 seconds with only 1 key press by the user isn't a sequence of actions?

Sounding a bit like a broken record here but I'll once again point out that it makes no difference to them whether it's mouse movement or key presses and one of the quotes I listed states just that.

We're in an agreement here, mouse or keystrokes makes no difference, it's the automation that is the issue.

    Quote from Sickness

Are you seriously incapable of differentiating between right clicking items in inventory and botting?

You do realize people use the very same software to do both right?

Both are also automating multiple actions, the gear swap automates 13 clicks and mouse movement between 13 gear pieces, a bot automates a few mouse clicks at set intervals, for example the ash pots in royal crypts where heavily botted with the same or similar software used for MF swaping.

You only differentiate them because you think one is OK and the other is not, in reality they utilize the same third party software that performs similar actions, the only difference is the application by the user.

To be quite blunt about it, both are OK or none are OK, if you think otherwise, you, Sir, are a hypocrite.

Generally speaking they talk of automation in regards to timing abilities or a string of commands. You could certainly say equipping multiple items with a single keystroke is a string of commands but I find this to be very interesting for a number of reasons:

Not really interesting as D3 has no macros that can execute multiple commands at once hence, equipping 13 items that would normally take 13 clicks and individual movement to hover over each item before said click, with a click of 1 button can't be seen in any other way that it's an automated process that gives a substantial benefit compared to doing it manually.

    Quote from Sickness
Logic would dictate that if they found it to be a large concern they would not only respond but disallow the capability.

Because they can prevent these types of programs to be used right? Also, it took them ages to come out and clarify the whole G15 thing.

If they could there would be no bots, in fact they can't even detect programs that uses scripts to control your input devices, at least not without breaking the law, it's the same as the old G15 debates, it's not ok according to the rules to add any loops or automation with them but at the end of the day there is nothing they can do on their end to check nor prevent it from happening, yet it's still against the rules.

At the end of the day it's a program that moves your mouse pointer and clicks specific points on your screen without your interaction, sure it's only to switch gear in this case but if it's allowed then I could point you to other software that does the exact same thing, only it's used to farm gold /items with...

Having a single key AUTOMATE a sequence of keys or actions is by definition automation. Tell me what the difference is. Simply moving the mouse does not give an unfair advantage and if you've paid any attention at all to blue posts on the subject that's what they care about. I'm not talking about binding a key to the mouse to open inventory, I'm talking about a macro that moves the mouse and clicks on your inventory button. Nothing was gained, no unfair advantage, blizzard could give 2 fucks less.

I've never once seen a blue post differentiate between keystrokes and mouse movements when mentioning scripts/macros. It's one and the same with the key factor being does it do something you are unable to do otherwise? I can have a macro open my inventory by mouse rather than keystroke, that does not give me any advantage just because the mouse moved.

    Really, semantics is your defense?

You can bind your inventory to one singular keystroke, or mouse button in that case, that has nothing to do with automation, having the mouse pointer move without interaction by the player is by definition a bot like behavior.

Again if you where to ask Blizz and get a response I don't see them ever agreeing that usage of such a software to be within the rules. Personally I couldn't give a shit if people use it and as I said I can't see how Blizz could police it, much as I don't see them being able to prevent bots from farming as there are software that runs scripts to control your mouse and keyboard without hooks, much like what is used here, impossible to detect within legal means and as such the only proof they could use would be the repetitive behavior.

Thinking it's alright to use it and claiming it's within the rules set by Blizz are very different and if semantics is all you got then you just sound like a child having he's toys taken away.

Edit: This was the best I could find at short notice, the links in it are broken as Blizz have changed forums since, it's EJ though so hopefully we can agree that the quotes are legit, there it clearly states regarding G15.

This is not okay. One hardware function = one action, according to standard macro rules. A hardware function is a keypress (including press/release) associated with movement and an ability/item. Obviously, our default macro rules enable you to use 'modifying' trinkets or abilities, such as nature's swiftness, plus a single spell all in a single press.

To clarify: No, you may not use hardware or software to auto-spam your shot rotations - period.

    And.

I use a G15. Using the G15 macro functions to create macros which incorporate delays, or otherwise use multiple abilities that each have a global cooldown on a single keypress has never been supported. It is automation, and is against our policies listed here:

Terms of Use, Part 4, Section B
WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use

OT: From what I recall being said by Blizz regarding WoW, combining keystrokes is fine but any automation is against the rules, having a software swap gear should fall under automation. It's a whole other matter if they can prove it and ban you for it though.

Edit: An example would be to have your G15 press 1,2,3 is ok, adding a repetition to the very same would not.
Gearswapping would be a series of keystrokes that you could do yourself at any time. Right click, right click, right click.

With added automated movement of the mouse pointer, I'm fairly sure that if you asked Blizz they would say it's against the rules, I don't see how they could possibly police it though.

If this means that certain classes need to be buffed to be competitive without gear swapping, than they should do that. However, that doesn't mean having to swap gear during combat ought to be supported behavior.

Or they could just allow us to zoom out a little further so we can plan what and how to attack, something they should do either way in my opinion, getting one shot by casting/charging mobs outside your visual area gets old quite fast, especially when the basic UI adds on to the problem.

They should just add a second gear set feature like in D2.

I disagree. Imho, they should either remove the ability to change gear for x amount of time after you've dealt or received damage or add a channel time to swapping gear when not in town, like how town portal works. Basically, they should make it as close to impossible to switch gear during combat as they can.

Then they would have to change the zoom as well based on the wide variety of mobs that can agro you outside your actual view distance, thus making shield swap impossible for tank classes.

I'd say the best middle ground would be to cap MF out at 150%, that way you can choose to incorporate it on your gear, have a few select farm pieces, or to keep switching a few items in just before kills if you think it's worth the hassle.

How did you get that channeled spells wouldn't crit from that, channeled is not specifically a dot or did I miss something.

Just to clarify, I'm seeing crit numbers pop up from my disintigrate that seems fairly consistant with my crit chance, hence the curiosity if it's something I missed or if you just assumed that channeled spell counted as a dot.
