its said that gingers have no souls.

i will not stand by that statement

(but every ginger i meet have had a short temper... i'm yet to meet anyone that makes me think otherwise...
same kind of statement one can use whit ducks. i have only seen white swan, there is no other color. until i see a black one. i am yet to see my black swan)

Then perhaps a fitting question would be...have you seen a Ginger soul? :P

Hi guys - I've actually made a few posts but never thought of actually doing the introduction thing. Stumbled upon the thread while looking for the rules ;)

Im a 26yo bloke from South Africa - staying in Pretoria and working in Johannesburg. Contrary to what most of you might believe, we DO have working infrastructure, electricity, paved roads and fire to cook our meat with. Our kids don't ride to school on the backs of lions, we don't our children to eat the weak and we manage to play games online, albeit at a much smaller scale than more Western areas.

I'm sure there is another Saffer or two lurking on the forums, so pop a message if you are :)

There, I fixed that for you. ;)

Despite the apparent similarities in hair colour, reproductive organs and general physiological characteristics (two eyes, a mouth, a nose), a "Ginger" and a "Redhead" are two distinctly different species.

    Thanks for the advice :)

I noticed that too, and I stopped leaping into things :P

At the moment I'm using the build to pretty much stomp on white trash (I always imagine trailer parks when saying that), and kite elites using SS. Basically, I'd leap in, stomp, revenge if it procced, and charge out, spam SS until I'm done and then rinse and repeat. This is mostly due to gear still being a semi issue for me, I'm saving up for the big 60.

My build will definately be changing when I hit inferno - War Cry/Impunity will be getting a spot, and Berserker Rage will be swapped for Relentless.

My big issue however is gear, or at least the stats needed for inferno. For example, the resists, the armor, the hp etc...and then I can tailor the build and gear around achieving those levels.

The rest of the forums refer to SC progress, and I'm not keen on "testing" anything with my freshly dinged barb :)

    Quote from Raevyn

k maybe i wasnt clear enough, i dont have a problem with random, and just so you know, i have been playing diablo since diablo 1, back in the dial up days of aol, yes that far back. I put hundreds of hours into it, hacked it, cleared it, legit and non-legit, made my own items, same for d2, played it inside and out, you all remember jamella's item editor? such a beautiful piece of software that was =)

    etc. etc. etc.

hopefully cleared it up a little, but I'll still get called a noob/never played diablo/add insult here...but i try

I think the point you are missing is this:

    Quote from soulzek

    1000 ilvl 62 items drop
    1000 ilvl 63 items drop

the average value of the ilvl 63 items will be greater than the ilvl 62s.
    Sorry you dont understand

the AVERAGE stats on i63 items will be higher than the average of i62 items. For argument's sake, the rolls on a i62 item will be 50 - 100, and for an i63 75 - 125. So while you might roll higher on an i62 than on an i63, it depends on if you had a good or bad roll.

With regards to the useless stats beign added...IIRC there was mention made that a higher ilvl allows an item to draw from higher affix ranges. These affix ranges then determines the roll for the particular stat in question.

In other words, your ilvl 25 item can only roll in the [x of the Lion] range (5-25 str eg.) whereas a ilvl 63 item can roll in the [x of the Boomshakalaka!] range , which is 100 - 250 str. Since each of these 6 affixes are randomized, its more than likely to get gear with extra radius or such nonsense on it instead of a useful one.

RNG is RNG - there is no getting around it.

So I've levelled and lost about 4 barbs now :-

    1. L43 barb in Act 2 NM, Arcane Molten bugs spewing budgies - DC'd without even getting a shot in.
    2. L47 barb in Act 3 NM, Arcane Vampiric tremor demons - cornered me and just plain bashed the shit out of me.
    3. L53 barb in Act 3 NM, got cocky and pulled by a Vortex Desecrate tremor demon - bashed me into a wall coted witha light dusting of Desecrate.
    4. L36 barb in Act 4 Normal, levelling a backup, and alt tabbed after clicking resume game...stupid.
    5. L57 barb in Act 1 Hell, went back farming XP in my +xp gear and a Arcan Waller Vortex unburied decided we should be friends. FOREVER.

I'm on my 56 Barb at the moment , and would appreciate some advice/tips on WHEN I should feel comfortable with entering Inferno. I'm still a good deal off, but I would like to keep an eye out for bargains that will assist me once I hit 60 and finish hell.

I've picked up a nice belt for cheapish (140str, 70 AR) but still need everything else, so some guidance from the rest will be highly appreciated :)

My build at the moment is http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WeXYVS!cbV!aZaZcZ but it should change as I use this mostly for the mobility and kiting.

posted a message on How much dex (for dodge) does a barb want/need?
I don't think "stacking" Dex is the way to go for a barb.

Since each stat point is taken out of a budget, that Dex on your weapon or armor is theoretically depriving you from another more beneficial stat (RNG being what it is). It makes more sense for barbs to focus on vit and str, since one increases our armor and damage, and the other our HP and armor, essentially giving you a boost to your EHP.

The bigger your EHP, the bigger an effect something like revenge will have, or any healing effects for that matter as each HP is "worth" more.

But if you happen to get the odd piece with dex on it, don't disregard it. The DR starts hurting HEAVILY the more you put into it - the first 100 Dex gives you 0.1% per point, from 101 - 500 about 0.025 per point, and even worse from 500+.

I would suggest getting at least 100 dex, and not more than 500 without necessarily going for Dex.

posted a message on Declining AH Activity
I'm assuming most of this relates to SC only?

I've only played HC since alunch (think I've got a lonely level 11 barb with 1900 gold sitting in the purgatory that is my SC account!) so most of my experience stayed the same even with the patches.

HC characters die all the time, and people are levelling alts and gearing backups etc. so there is always a market for the midlevel gears. Also, a dying HC char takes with him a chunk of the economy in gear, gems and follower items, and makes for a very peculiar trading environment.

But on the SC side, I'm sure most of what we are seeing is due to the reasons mentioned in the posts above - increased amount of items flooding the AH, players gearing themselves, the RMAH and GAH split. It will stabilise eventually - excellent items will be going for a premium, while the rest will be selling for peanuts glazed in mansweat.

Included in the Battle.net code of conduct is wording about bypassing the language filter, which bull!@#$ would be consider doing, as its still obvious what you're saying. But the moderators over there have stated many times that any %#@$@ stuff they still consider obscene language, and doing so in a thread like that is pretty well ensuring the most rigid enforcement of those rules.

i did not purposely try to get around the profanity filter. I just typed normally and clicked post. What the point of the profanity filter if $#%^@#$#@ is still consider obscense. I think Blizzard is just plain upset over this post.

So you just typed the profanity in normally, and clicked post?

Well now...that sounds legit. Ban justified.

posted a message on My Lilith = Adria Theory
Mmm...I must say this makes kinda sense to me.

Even though Lillith would not herself work for Diablo, it is not beyond her to use him in her schemes. IMO it is entirely possible that she engineered the whole plot...firing up the Soulstone, getting the Evils trapped inside and then letting Diablo possess Leah.

At one stage while assembling his body ZK says "We all know the end times are upon us, but do you really think Belial and Azmodan are behind all of this." Which is vague enough to hint at either Diablo or Lillith.

Lillith would've known that the only way to find peace is to shut down both Heaven and Hell - if either remains, Sanctuary will be lost. Diablo as the Prime Evil's first task would be to find a way up there, beat the shit out of imperius and then start laying ruin to the Heavens...which he promptly did.

But Lillith (in the Sin War) would force heroes to use their powers to save the situation...think of Uldyssian and the very first encounter with the Inquisitors. She used the situation to force him to use his powers. Again with her fractured ankle - she used the situation to force him to heal her etc. She would've known the hero would see that Diablo must not win the over the high Heavens, and would get involved and cast Diablo down.

To me this plot smells like Lillith from top to bottom...

There is also a quirky qoute that I heard while playing last night. At one stage in act 2 a nobleman approaches Adria and says ;" My, but you are very well preserved for one who has lived as long as you...how old are you exactly?" To which she replies "Go to Hell."
It might be nothing...but it might be something. :)

I ended up selling it for 1.8 million, when, I may very well have just vendoered it seeing it being a level 54 item.

and this is what 99.9% of the qq'ing barbarians do , they vendor the item cause they got pissed off they didnt get a item for themselves

And you are basing this on what? Your own research? Things you hear your mates complaining about? You had a dream about it?

Back on topic... the resists that they mention aren't solely from the items you gear. Warcry's impunity rune increases your current resists by another 50%, so it gets even more effective the more resists you've got to begin with.

should be players in general not just who play barbs, majority of the people i know dont know what other classes needed in the game.

oh and for the record impunity raises it up 40% - so if you have a neck piece with 60 all resist it will increase your resistance by 90 with the buff up :D

Ah - just making sure you're not a pansy DH trolling on the barb forum :P

And my bad about the 40% - 50% mixup...lets cross fingers I didn't inadvertently cause some lurker a horrible death in hardcore... :)
