You care about your weapon because of enrage timers. Can't rely on your group to cover your slack: you need to be contributing DPS. It really isn't like WoW at all.

In answer to your other question (what does weapon DPS affect): anything that does damage. Heals only scale with your level, or maybe with your max HP. Turn on advanced tooltips and double check, it'll say what it's scaling with in there.

But yeah. You need a high DPS weapon. Don't think like WoW!
Thus: it affects only my damage, and you need to have a high dps weapon, so that you can do dps....

Yeah, so in other words, as a MonkTANK, since I'm running with 3 RL friends all the time who are doing ridiculous DPS, theres no need for a high damage weapon?

So, the thing thats all the rage right now in the community is BIG DAMAGE WEAPONS!

Well, I don't really care about my damage. I think I'd be fine doing 0 damage, just so long as it kept things pissed at me.

I'm trying to figure out if its worth it for me to buy a stat stick, where my weapon has 200 vitality/200 dex/50 to all resist, does 130 dps, vs my current 900 dps 1h with crappy stats.

So what things does my damage affect? Obv, it affects my sweeping wind and crippling wave. What about my heal? My shield? My mantra of healing? If it doesn't affect these, why do I care about my weapon as anything more than another source for stats?

**ninja edit** (I'm a 60 monk, doing inferno act 2 & 3, with about 950 resists w/ self-buff. I'm running with friends, doing group runs for neph stacks and then clearing bosses)
