Yes, working as intended, yet still stupid.
I'm in inferno Act II farming Mahgda. I don't die that often often, I'm not graveyard zerging to kill every champ pack, but I do die (which is what they said all along right? "You will die in inferno, a lot. "Oh, and now we're going to punish you severely for it and you will be forced to go back and farm Hell for gold).
I *lost* money playing last night. I understand the theoretical reason for doing this, but in practice it punishes the people who don't already have 50m gold and awesome gear who are trying to progress.
The game became less fun last night, and not just for me. We can talk balance and exploits all day, but in the end, they are changing this game as if it were an MMO and it's simply not. So what if I want to power level? So what if I found an awesome spot to farm gold/rares? So what if I want to stack a certain stat and become godly?
This is not a freakin' MMO! It doesn't require balance, I just want to have fun. the only reason I can think of for these sort of changes is the RMAH, the same reason I am forced to play online at all times (yes, you can claim this is also to remove dups, and I will readily admit it makes it easier to get patches out, but do you really think this was the driving force behind the decision? I don't.)
We can argue back and forth about this stuff, and I'm not saying those who disagree with me are wrong because fun is obviously subjective, but for many, many of us ARPG players this game is simply not as fun as it could be and it's getting worse.
This, this is why I quit, they're trying to balance this, and it doesn't need it
