I have about average gear for a DH (180k DPS with Archery) and although I can do MP up to 5 at a decent pace, anything above MP1 feels way too slow.
For farming, either XP or loot, MP0-1 are the best, especially for legendaries. Since legendary quality is not affected by MF, lower MPs are better, period.
I suggest you focus on your paragon levels until you get to 80+, at which point your MF should be high enough to start getting decent drops on a regular basis.
If you check the people streaming, everyone is getting about 15-30 legendaries per day, depending on how much they actually farm, so MF is quite important.

I just downloaded your tool and it looks really good.Posted in: Theorycrafting and Analysis
I was looking for something like this, since upgrading on a budget means you have to make trade offs (lose vit - gain res, etc).
I have a few questions though:
- are there any known issues/limitations with it? (as in are the formulae set in stone?)
- could you also add intellect to the mix?
- would you add an item comparison tool to it? (you input the stats of 2 items, and it calculates a score for each)
- I am playing a wizard, so it's not a major concern, how would block fit into all this for a melee though?

Basically the MF from NV is not different than the MF from gear, but as others said before, NV has an additional effect of making the boss drop extra loot.Posted in: Theorycrafting and Analysis
The reason you see more rares with NV is because with the increased number of items dropping, there are more chances for your total MF to kick in and upgrade from blue to yellow.
It's all random, but you can think of it like this:
No NV, no MF: Boss drops 1-4 items, all blue
No NV, MF from gear: Boss drops 1-4 items, chances for rares increase (1-2 rares)
5 stacks NV, no MF from gear: Boss drops 4-7 items, chance for rares (2-3 rares), rest blue
5 stacks NV, good MF from gear: Boss drops 4-7 items, bigger chance for rares (3-5 rares), rest blue
It's an oversimplification but the idea is that MF and NV work together and produce very nice results (4-5 rares in some cases)

You do have to understand that people on Inferno are a minority. As it was mentioned before, all those skill combinations are usable in the first 3 difficulties so the claim that there are so many builds you can try/use is true for 75% of the content and 98% of the player base :).Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
I finished Inferno, having defeated Diablo a couple of nights ago and I can say that it was faster (and easier) than I expected before the game was launched.
Yes I do have above average gear (57k damage, 50k hp, 380 resists) but getting gear IS part of the game and SHOULD be required for progression.
- Are you currently happy with the current overall Inferno playstyle?
If you have to stand and nuke for X seconds, it becomes boring. Except elite packs, everything dies rather fast with 50k+ damage and I expect to have at least double that amount by the time you get to really farming all the acts.
Kiting is part of the game at lower levels of gear and it should be as you are trying to compensate for that.
- Do you feel that you have a great amount of room to mess around with your build?
Maybe "great amount" is not the best way to describe it, but there is definately room for messing around. Just check the forums, everyone has their own twist of whatever spec and people are using quite different builds and setups.
If you expect that EVERY skill is viable on Inferno I think it's your expectation that's wrong.
- Are you currently happy with the actual skills the Wizard has? Or did you expect more?
People keep mentioning D2 in different contexts but if you remember, you were building an entire characted around 1-3 skills.
If you were happy in D2, and I was, then you will be thrilled with D3 in this regard.
The game is still young and people are still experimenting so I don't think we needed more skills, at least not at this point.
- Do you have any personal suggestions that could greatly improve certain skills?
I am sure people can come up with sugestions, although I personally don't think about that now, but then again everything can be improved.
The way things work is that there is always room for improvement and you can be sure that you will never be able to please everyone, so Blizzard are trying their best.
