Karalius in my tank set with 1.5k LoH Molten, Plagued and even Desecrator heal me for more than they damage while OP:CA is up (~50% up time with high crit). 1.2k RA 80k HP and tank spec it really isn't a big deal to stand in elite abilities.
But you are right in that it is boring which is why I am dual wielding as of 1.03 and just burning things down. In 4p I will usually switch to some tank gear though because Zerking things doesn't really work as well.
If you want to main barb you might as well just be flexible and have two sets of gear. I never die and gear/spec appropriately for my party and act.

Erm, isn't the point of 2H to use Seismic Slam? Seems to be missing from your build. Personally I feel EQ is a waste because the things that are really going to be a challenge are elite Fallen casters/pterodactyls. These mobs will just walk right out of EQ unless you were able to corner them and even then you probably only get one of them to stand in it. If you grab Seismic you can shoot them while said douchebags are running around trying to spray you with Molten and Fire Chains or whatever. The only exception here is elite Phase Beast in which case EQ counters them nicely but you are only going to hit one pack of these right before Azmodan MAYBE.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

Trying to make this work with math let's see how it goes...Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
You would need extremely high crit to make this better than Insanity (flat out 100% more damage!). I'm running a Frenzy dual wield build and I've got 50% so +10 from zerk gives me 60%.
Take that 155% bonus hit and multiply by .6 crit chance then by .75 Frenzy Normalization reduction (I'm assuming that's what the "chance" in the description refers to) and you've got 69.75% average bonus damage per hit. Insanity basically just gives you an extra hit (Frenzy does 110% weapon damage) so it's almost half of that. Revenge supposedly has an even worse normalization for on hit effects. If I fucked any math up feel free to call me out.
Perhaps a 2H build with Bash and Seismic would work, though I don't know the normalization factors for those either.
On the other hand it looks viable enough for one to choose it just for fun!

IAS never hurts with one-handers. With any build it gives you greater mobility and it essentially multiplies your incoming HP from LoH, i.e. if you gain 10% IAS you are hitting 10% faster/more often so you will get 10% more Life on Hits. Personally, I have gone away from the LoH builds because that stat is just so damn expensive but it can be really good when you don't have high DPS. LoH is also close to worthless with a 2hander because you hit too slowly. I recently got my crit chance over 50% buffed and with crit damage one-handers I am having loads of fun. I'd say if you think you'd eventually consider dropping the board and picking up a 2hander or dual wield you should absolutely get crit chance because it will work with all builds.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

I currently have resist all on every piece of gear (1k with Impunity) except for my shield, which has 14% life and 80 vit) my weapon obviously and helmet (Helm of Command with resist is not worth it). However, I am still hurting against elemental damage with some DPS builds and I want more.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
You have two options if you choose not to get high resist stats: 1) 2h barbarians see a lot of success by cutting out some resist in favor of damage. With Seismic Slam and Bash you can very effectively keep enemies off of you although your health will rise and drop dramatically. 2) I highly recommend resist all 40+ on all items, but in 1.03 physical damage has been lowered so much that the only thing I feel I need to gear for now is fire. If you pick up Leap and Furious Charge cold bombs and arcane beams can be a non-issue with careful play. It is probably worthwhile to pick up low all resist gear that has fire resist as well to save money.

I did get an axe but I've decided I'm going to drop this idea for now. I'm finding now that the entire game is completely trivialized with the exception of a handful of affixes, namely all the fire ones. I was really hopeful about this patch but now I guess the Barb game is just "stack fire resist on AR" and everything else will hit you like a wet noodle by default.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I died a few times clearing act 3 with the WW build (I was almost never able to stay in "the shit" against anything with 2 or more of Plagued, Chains, Molten, Desecrator) so I ended up switching back to the ol' Frenzy spam build to get the awesome Furious Charge back and dropped all of my defensive skills. Sadly, I'm doing a LOT better and, while I'm sure some of this can be attributed to having more skill with this build than WW, I'm not sure if I'm ever going to go back since I can do all packs regardless of affixes and have 35k damage on my char sheet (ooh big numbers).
I think the problem is that, as I said earlier, since all damage in the game except for a few affixes is unnoticeable at this juncture I can't justify a spec that doesn't handle the things that are actually a threat.
Also, how the hell do you guys deal with Shielding? That was way too much work to kill! I was very glad I took Revenge because I would never have been able to stay up with WW against that. Shielding needs to be dumped from the game.

Socketed Helm of Command, str on chest, better ammy and a weapon with more useful stats. Some of my gear is slightly worse than yours and I cleared all content before patch so you shouldn't have any difficulty in 1.03.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

That's pretty much the same build I was using except for that I didn't feel I needed the Provocation healing so I took Best Served Cold. Also played with Crushing Advance since it seems to heal me a lot with LoH. I will try to shoot for 60% tonight.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I've seen the Sprint build and I suppose if I was desperate to beat content I would try it but I was able to kill all the bosses before patch so I'm not really interested. TBH my reaction to the Diablo kill video with the Sprint build was "this is really gay" watching him run in a circle around D waiting for Fury (no offense to my LGBT friends I am just immature).

I'd estimate the damage in Act 3 at below half of what it was Monday. This is way more than I thought Blizzard would be willing to do. I'm not the most geared Barb in the world but I'm pretty happy at where it is right now. I work full time and have been playing Barb almost exclusively since release so with the amount of time I've put it I think I should be able to do all of the content. I was barely surviving the hard pulls in Act3/4 on Monday but yesterday I double pulled a pack of Invuln Minion Golgors and some other gold mob and it was only mildly challenging in tank spec.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I've since spent a bunch of money on DPS gear and I'm having a great time downing everything! I actually feel rewarded for my efforts finally.
The point of the game now is - max out your DPS like a boss, sell items on the RMAH, and have fun running your undergeared friends!

No, it's not like D2 at all. In D2 you had to hit breakpoints based on weapon speed alone. D3's WW works like any other skill in that it takes into account all IAS sources and has no breakpoints.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
