I also would not rely on the Maximus chains to do much in higher grifts. Most of the time you won't be in a position to use the chains effectively and it's incredibly unreliable on a rift guardian as you don't have the density to always guarantee a proc/uptime.

Someone at paragon 0 doesn't have level 53 gems. Either way I have personally never thought I need to be a certain paragon level to be able to do something. It helps but it's not mandatory, good that you showed people though.

I just made the switch from a 3800 Maximus to a 2300 SK + firebirds offhand + cindercoat. My overall damage dropped but my elite damage jumped from 2.2mill to 2.8mill, every single point of elite damage has been a larger upgrade than fire damage since I'm already running 90%+. Since I'm constantly clearing 38/39 I can tell you now, the fire chains gets harder and harder to position correctly and given most of my time during a grift is spent at the end killing a RG, that is where the extra elite damage shines. It is also hard to proc the chain on RG's that don't summon additional monsters so it's pointless most of the time. I also dropped toxin gem to run zweis, trapped and powerful so being able to spam more blizzards to cover alot more areas is an awesome benefit of cindercoat (Even though I have perfect 5 stat magefists, the only thing you get out of using magefists over cindercoat is the IAS which is pointless for the build). Not an option to run RoRG in solo rifts because of SoJ and Unity to good.

Given your aim as a wizard is to kill an elite pack and move on to the next ASAP while only stopping to kill LARGE packs of easily killable trash mobs elite damage > *.

There is no question about it in my mind. 100% the cold damage one. In higher grifts being immune to frozen would be invaluable (And considering I have never seen that neck or the lightning one drop... ever the thing is rare as hell). Galv ward is a pretty meh talent.

Wow, how did you have problems with Act 3 (Short of stupid Invul minion packs) with 42k dps / 62k hp / 1.7 APS. I run 40k HP, 30K DPS, 230% base MF all the time and still farm Act 3 with no deaths post 1.03. Killed Diablo before the patch, hell I could get alot more damage if I stopped using MF all the time, but why bother? MF is a money snowball stat, run it all the time or don't bother. Start quest at second sin heart > 5 stacks before Cydea > another 3-4 packs before Azmodan > Kill Azmodan and all done. 30-45 minute run.

Switching before a kill is majorly pointless, because you are missing out on chances to find better items on the 10 million mobs before those elites. All of my legendaries/set items have all been found from normal mobs with the exception of a few legendary plans off Azmodan.

Point 1, I'm in Aus, and I lag hard, coupled with hit detection I find keeping my HP up to be very very difficult, much of the time I rubberband everywhere taking hits, and as stated my DPS was all APS, so it did not hit very hard at all. Anyway how can you question personal experience, you can call me a shit gamer, I don't mind, but I definitely found Act III farming post nerf to be a huge chore with my build until i got the dps back up.

Point 2. Starting to agree with you, it's a solid fact that MF switching before an elite kill is not as good as perm MF gearing. BUT, it's better then perm NO MF gearing. If you hot swap before killing elites you will get better gear (for now), if you can farm in MF you will get even better gear, but not viable strat for everyone IMO.

I'm currently switching out bits of gear to MF at the cost of vit mostly. Trying not to sac intel.

Currently: 82k dps / 51k hp / 1.49 APS / 39 MF / 450 resists / 5.1k armor - Act III is mostly a cakewalk (inv sucks) with those stats so I figure I can swap some gear for MF as I find/craft it. Because not only will you lose NV stacks now for hot swapping MF gear, I think you really need to be in MF all the time when farming. You just need a good balance of Power to MF.

I live in Australia too, QLD to be precise. I know your pain about latency, Azmodan and Diablo were a mighty big pain when I was pushing to finish the game. In fact I found it actually harder to dodge stuff with a higher attack speed because of latency it's why I opted for Hydra/Blizzard/Arcane Orb with a .90 2h weapon so I can stutter step kite for days with big arcane orb hits with 20% move speed.

Either way, no matter your spec. Once you get teleporting, invulnerable minion fast, jailer Phase beasts you just quit the game and hope for the best in the next.

As for it gets better? It was never bad, Inferno has never been hard for the Wizard, period. It like people don't realize they are a Wizard and think they are a Barb or Monk and think they are supposed to sit there and take hits... The only thing that has made farming act 3 and act 4 shit right now is the lower drop rate and the repair costs for wear and tear which makes farming Act 1 actually way more viable for profit:time.

    Just my 2 cents:

    Windows index 7.9

    SSD Crucial M4
    Intel i5 2500k overclocked from 3300 to 4500 (stable)
    16 GB DDR-III running at 1800 (stable)
    ATI HD7970 (not overclocked)

I'm pretty sure that's what can be called 'top-end'

And I have stuttering, I have strong lags with 40+ mobs on screen (especially in a3), I have no clue what the hell did D3 coding team do wrong to make it SUCH a obvious problem.

I wouldn't say that's high, you skimped on the mid range CPU. I would sort out your shitty ATI drivers and see if it starts working better. Goto 3dguru.com and there are some new beta drivers on the website. Do a clean driver install (Uninstall your dirvers, clean the rementants out with driversweeper or something and reinstall). It's quite clear that everyone compaining here is using an ATI card (Short of that guy using an 8 series GT... Which is dated as hell) while everyone with nVidia cards are working fine, myself included (Even SLI is working fine).
