Grats to him, and sheesh do these threads always have to turn into 6 pages of debate about bots?

Anyone know how much played time it took him 1-100?

And who cares of a bot gets PL100 first? It doesn't effect you and eventually if it is a bot it will get banned.

I do, its like winning the Tour de France while being doped. Nobody will remember the 2nd place winner years later, although he is now officially the winner...

Do you remember who was #1 in the 3rd D2 ladder season? Probably not. Years later no one will remember who was first in pLvls either, unless some website keeps that data recorded for us, of course..... but that's not exactly the same thing as remembering on your own who got the world first Illidan kill 5 years later, now is it?

Depends entirely on who it is and what it is. I'll always remember Krip being the first and only person to kill HC Inferno Diablo pre patch just like I'll always remember RussBarb being the first Vanilla D2 character to ever hit 99.

I played D2 for years and I've never heard of RussBarb :P

I think these people's names will be remembered by the people who follow them and log on to sites like this every day. Your average gamer probably has no idea who they are. Or if they do it's actually due to the rise in popularity of gamer sites and vids - that sort of thing wasn't nearly as prevalent back in D2's era. Honestly the "prestige" aspect of games exists only in the minds of people who obsess about such things.

I hang out here and at MMOChamp all the time and that's the only reason I've ever heard of Athene and Kripp, because they get on the front page. I've never actually watched any of their videos or streams. Oh except the one where Athene typed in his password while streaming and got his account ninjaed lol (I think that was Athene).

my thoughts: 90% of ideads from the forum are better than what is in game now, but blizzards do not give a fuck about uhappy minority, that acts like this game is a mmo

Really? I have the exact opposite impression - 90% of ideas proposed on the forums to "fix" D3 are far worse than the current game. This one for example.

Why is it so hard to agree with the concerns of DH players. I'm at 220h played on my dh and yes I'm pissed at this nerf. Because if I knew from day 1 of patch 1.0.4 that trail of cinder was a bug, I wouldn't have wasted my last two weeks playing, gearing and leveling my dh to paragon 16. I sort of expected a nerf, but 1500 to 300? Wtf man.

For those who haven't yet given up to getting geared through AH the 100k dps unbuffed mark is very hard to reach. The fact is player realized it was a lot faster to kill anything by tanking with 8k dps than kitting. Kitting with a demon hunter IS NOT REWARDING. Honestly when I see those melees tanking into molten, desecrate, arcane, I just wonder why affixes are only here to screw me, 2 ticks of arcane and I'm doing 0 dps.

Blizzard need to set the fuckin skills in stone, so ppl can start investing in the class that fits the best for them. Anyway, sad to see they are ruining the game the same way they did with WOW. I don't want to even think about the mess once they start balancing for pvp.

LOL. TLDR: I only play broken OP classes so Blizzard please tell me ahead of time which classes will have broken abilities so I can play those!!!

And what were you expecting, 1500 to 1499? Of course it was going to be a massive nerf.

ToC was fun and ofcause it was OP. But what really pisses me off is that blizz tells us its a bug though im 100% sure it works as intended and they simply failed at balance. 99% of comunity had predicted that ToC with 1500% weapon damge will be OP as hell.
Blizzard havent seen that for some reason and now they are talking sh^t

Yeah sure one vault through a champ pack and watch them melt I'm sure that was intentional and Blizzard's just making shit up. Here's a net, catch a clue.

posted a message on Demon Hunter "Impale"
One of the things that sucks about the NV buff system is that you can't swap between a general AOE build for champ packs and a single target build for bosses. Or swap in a utility ability for one specific fight. So even something as attractive as Impale winds up falling off my bars and not getting used.

I wish Blizzard had just decided to abandon the concept of fixed "builds" altogether, this halfway solution just gets in the way of itself.

Honestly what's the point of playing a DH now the tank build and trail of cinder are dead? When I see those wiz tanking A3 or doing 80k dps while not being one shotted by anything and their moms or those monks barbs tanking dozens of mobs, I'm just left wondering, what does my DH do that they don't. Oh yeah I can get a nat set and spam gloom endlessly but since farmers took over AH there's no way I'm spending IRL money for this.

    Lame.

Sorry about your broken ability getting fixed. I can't imagine how you could enjoy a game without using something OP. Also, if "farmers" had taken over the AH everything would be cheap not expensive.

God forbid you should try to play the game in less than BiS anyway... you might actually have something to actually work towards...

I would LOVE to see Nether Tentacle reworked to act similar to how it used to work.

"Reworked"? You mean the damage buffed so it's always the only choice for a Hatred spender. NTY.

We used to have an OP ability and many players enjoy it when something they have is OP. But you have to realise that it is bad for the game.

posted a message on Inferno Difficulty a failure?
However, once a character is properly geared for Inferno, it is no harder than Hell mode in D2.

LOL. You do NOT remember D2 Hell accurately :P

Still, all of this depends on what you mean by "properly geared". If you're wearing i62s/i63s then yeah D3's Hell is a pushover, but of course that's because you outgear it. I found D3 Hell way harder than D2's Hell (which was not hard AT ALL except for total immunities which were just cheap, if your character couldn't break immunities you couldn't kill them) while leveling, using only self-found gear. And the AH allows you to bypass the entire Inferno gearing so yeah, you can buy a bunch of gear off that and call yourself "properly geared" and faceroll it... no kidding, you basically paid for the privilege of skipping the progression of the game. Try doing Inferno start to finish without the AH if you want a challenge.

The game gives you challenge if you want to, and if you don't there are ways around it. It gives you CHOICES.

Unfortunately, refusing to use the auction house is like leveling in World of Warcraft without completing quests. It's probably possible, but only a few crazy people have what it takes.

LOL, it's really not that bad. Unless you're the sort of person who rages if they can't beat a whole game in 1 week.

posted a message on Really disappointed with D3 going normal to nightmare
    Couple of things.

    1) No you do not NEED to use the AH to gear up. Ever. It just makes things faster because it's easier to farm the gold you need or valuable items to sell than it is to farm a perfect item for your class yourself (you have many alts so you this is much less of a problem for you in fact). Just like trading in D2, only much more convenient and now gold has value so you don't have to pray to god a SoJ or HR drops, you can eventually have enough money just from vendoring/pickup and the occasional AH sale.

    2) You DEFINITELY don't need to use the AH to beat Normal and Nightmare. You should be able to beat most if not all of Hell without doing any gear grinding or AHing at all. It's only early Inferno that you really start to feel the lack of gear. It's a bit class dependent (eg, Rakanoth on a DH :P) but at worst you can join a party to get you through a boss or two (group play is more fun anyway!).

    3) Once you get to Inferno yes you will need to invest time (or gold or $$$ if you're lazy :P) to gear, you can't just kill anything as soon as you see it. Bear in mind Inferno is designed to be hard, it's extra content added to be a challenge and a time sink. But you don't seem to be someone obsessed with plowing to the end of the game ASAP so I think you have the right attitude for Inferno anyway.

    4) You also do not need a specific "build" to progress, until level 60 I used every new skill and rune as I unlocked it to try it out (first toon was a DH). Some combinations were absolutely terrible but I still made it through! Especially now that some weaker abilities have been buffed. Even Inferno isn't as skill-dependent as some people make out - there are a few abilities that are clearly a bit better than the alternatives but that doesn't mean you can't progress without using them. Definitely not before Inferno! Take the build you like, it'll probably be fine.

    5) I can't view your vid here at work, but if it's true you aren't kiting that's basically the problem. A DH is a glass cannon, they're designed to be that way. Consider using your Monk or Barb as your first toon if you don't like that style. Also Rain of Vengeance is an awesome skill, don't listen to the naysayers! Use Stampede for an AOE knockback while you dump Hate in their faces, it's awesome :P
