posted a message on There's a repair bill, then there's a repair bill
You won't go bankrupt in Inferno from repair costs.
OK maybe you will if you try to deathzerg a rare pack. But in inferno my gold drops match my repair costs with 1.0.3 quite well (barb, progressing solo through inferno, getting smacked in the face occasionally). Maybe i have to list some 40 to 70k auctions which i wouldn't have bothered with before the patch but that's really it.

If repair costs really increased for <50 gear then, in this case, i see the problem.

Never had to corpse hop, cleared a1 easy solo, a2 till magda solo, rest with Group, working on a3.
If you ever went vs. magda as a meele you would know that it is good as impossible to solo.
You can't do shit, every stun you have will break of before you can take 1 hit and run, her autohits deal 19k to me, with 600+ Ressi vs. the ele. Only thing a barb can do from a2+ is stun, tank for the few secs ignore pain or iron impact is up and rezz Range classes.
Well, you could do it, if you own gear that is worth around 20+ Million Gold.

Just opened here to get some input, not to hear people repeat the same "lol why u no elite, buy gear kek" bullshit that fills every thread thanks to you people.

    1. stop the **** this isn't /b/

    2. you already said it "sherlock". just look at the auto attack values of maghda (and her berserks) vs. the values of belial and azmodan. Then go back rerolling if you're already done farming after 1.5 weeks.

On your actual question: You want around 17k dps with battlerage (value for me) to go through act2. Shoot for a weapon which will bring you around there. That should break your bank. After that, you can go to more STR/VIT/RESI. Just scan the AH with all armor set to those stats and see if you can find something below 900k.

posted a message on Barbarian group tanking
In this case i'd recommend something like this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bVRkYQ!bVe!ccYcZc
Since you're the only tank, you want to live as long as possible.

You could swap Ignore Pain for Jump if you're dps are comfortable with kiting in the outbreaking mobs.

Again fury generator comes down to personal choice but your role isn't dpsing.

There are arguments about Revenge and Overpower but for me, both combined make the difference between life and death on champion packs.

Just give it a shot ;)

It is pretty hard for a barb to tank solo. For a barb to be a real tank you need the buffs and debuffs provided by a monk (and vice versa).
If you're really only tanking than just forget about DPS, boost your resi + vit + str. If you want, you cant get the fastest weapon with a good chunk of Life per hit on it.

An all over tanking build doesn't really excist due to the fact that you would need to set the skills to each champion pack and boss.
But since you're talking about the MF stacks, i'm guessing you're group can already handle champion packs, from there on it's a question of gear, really.

posted a message on Inferno Build(critics welcome)
You are already doing a 'range' Barb build, which will occasionally be your build in the first few runs in inferno.
An inferno range build will look something like this (take whichever fury generator you prefer) http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#aekYRg!bhe!bYcZba
You will simply not have the rage for weapon throw and WotB looses much of it's strengh when you can't tank the mobs. I never tried Furious Charge so i can't tell you about that skill. As passives you want to have as much survivability as possible for range mobs.

Once you get better gear and more resis etc. you can try melee focused builds like http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVkiXY!bce!cccaaZ

I personally hate to range kite with my barb so i just farm the acts for better gear until i can melee the mobs again.

posted a message on Gear and stat requirement for Inferno Act 1
It really comes down to: Do you know when and where to jump on Champ Packs (if you don't burst them but that requires some gear) and when to use Ground Stomp, espacially on those Champion Berserkers...
When you got that covered, your Stats don't look too bad. Health seems a bit off compared to the 4,5k armor. From my experience Armor and Resi > massive Health.
You will be able to kill Butcher before the enrage timer with 9k dps.

Here is my build for Solo Inferno http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVYkXi!bec!ccZcaa

I have had no problems with act 1 on my barb in inferno, been farming butcher the last 2 days and it seems pretty good.

I'm using a Zerk build that just relies on doing so much damage as possible in 5-6 seconds and kill them rare/champion packs in that time!

been trying on act 2 but it's near impossible. I was laying on 13k damage and 27k hp on act 1, but got a weapon upgrade last night, so i'm at 22k damage now, so hoping that this will be enough to kill some act 2 packs. i'm trying to go as high damage as possible with my setup and killed a whole champion pack with just 1 earthquake in act 1 with the new weapon (Had 64k damage with everything popped)

I think bursting down champions in act 2 will at least require an >1000 dps 2-hand. My 2-hand got 912 right now, with no STR on it and i can't do it with burst spec. But my main gear is Tank already so please report if you can burst them =)

Any ideas about going lifesteal/regen/on hit?
I tried lifesteal today, but it seems that lifesteal on inferno only gets 1/3, like it was in d2. Which is a joke, since you can only get 6% of items and 3% of the passive -_-
I am thinking about +life to hit with the star amethyst, but I doubt you can reach 1k hp. Maybe +life on hit and lifesteal is an option together with a good defense.

I got ~600 on hit with 300 on wep and star amethyst in it + ~ 5.7% life steal. Now that i'm in the process of dumping vit and bolstering my resistances that acutally matters. I'm healing for arround 3,5kish/sec (would have too look it up but it's late). On 35k hp that is quite a bit, yet still useless against act 2 mobs.

On the topic 'Barbs useless' i now have to say, that with 3/4 of my gear coming from act 1 inferno, i can tank and kill every blue pack in the act. Sure many cominations are quite hard and not possible without a health well nearby, but that's only the really nasty ones.
That feels about right acutally. I'd say the problem is not with the Barbs/Monks in this case. It's with the Ranges gimping the speed of progression. We're one week after release and people are expecting to blitz through inferno. If we can believe Blizz, then this is just not realistic.
Now with the Wizz OP and Kiting being WAY to easy (imho), people expect from their barbs to do the pacs with the same gear as the ranges what is just not going to happen.
It really comes down to a class balance issue rather than to "Barbs are totally gimped".

Just managed to get a half decent clear of the first part of act II today. I've never played anything but solo barb. While I agree with you guys that the game is heavily biased against melee I think the tuning difficulty is'nt actually too far off. I've got optimium rare lvl60 act I gear in about 90% slots and I can now *just* clear act II. It seems that they have the tuning set exactly right for barb. In that you need 90% of the current act gear in every slot to take on the next act. The problem is that kiting as ranged means you don't have to have that almost perfect gear if you never get hit by anything.

Biggest advice I can give other barbs trying to solo at the moment is to stop stacking vit. This isn't wow and we don't need huge health pools to suck up massive burst so our healers can keep us up. You need to mitigate incoming damage and spread out your mit through equal amounts of armor/resist all/dodge as to make the best of the curve. Also, make sure your using the enchantress, shes by far the best follower imo. Armor buff is huge and her occasional CC is life saving. That and mine does about 2.5k dps.

Does this also apply to group play? I play with a monk, DH and WD right now. For me it seems that my only task in the group is to keep Groundstomp and Jump with Stun on CD

posted a message on How can this weapon be better then my currently equipped?
My guess would be that the shown DPS in the character window takes the weapon speed into account.
As a wiz you don't realy need ASPD. But the rare also got a higher damage range, so i guess we need more info on the calculation of the DPS shown.

Anyway, don't you need as less life as possible as wizz so your life leech can be most effective? This would make the rare weapon inferior anyway.

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if farming the Pony Level on Hell difficutly is any good?
I'm a 60 Barb with Act 1 Inferno on Farm (except for the nasty champion packs ladida...) and was wondering if the Pony Level would still drop upgrades for me, before I upgrade the Staff.
Also: How is the gold drop?

P.S.: Not talking about how to get to the LvL, google it ;)
