No one ever said viable. They said combinations. They went out of their way to say there'd be clunker builds.

Jay Wilson: "So why? Why Viable over optimal? Why are we even talking about this? So, Diablo has tons and tons of customization, we did the math on the new skill systems with the combination of passives and runes and we threw a crazy number out, uh, a few years back like 69 Billion, we're really more in the area of 2.8 Trillion- Trillion? Trillion. [2.8] Trillion builds. So that's a lot of builds. Um, and why? Why so many builds? Because customization is self expression, and if you have to build a character to be perfectly optimized, that's not really going to allow you to customize that character.

So our job is to make sure that, yeah, that, you know, while there might be some best builds there's tons and tons of viable ones. It's totally okay for there to be best builds, it's totally okay for someone to go 'you know what, I made this Barbarian and he's got like 0.5% more damage than any other build you can possibly make.' And you know what, there's nothing wrong with that...unless you can't...unless that number becomes 'oh this, this Barbarian's like 50% more powerful.'

So if we can get enough builds into that range of 'these are all viable, they can play at the max level.' It means you can play the character you want to play at max level and not be beholding anyone. So what we say is, go out, have fun, be free and make the Diablo character you want to make."

i dont know about you guys, but from this quote it seems the d3 team has failed miserably at what they hoped to achieve the game needed (dare i say! ) more testing and a month or 2 more of developing

posted a message on The point of playing Monk class over range one?
my monk is in nightmare now , but i have a mage in hell and a wd in inferno, so i know what im talking about..
i love playing my monk BECAUSE of his survivability. dodging most moves, 'serenity' every 10 seconds to completely be invulnerable, and when i actually get his , i can pop a heal that gives me more damage. there IS fun in playing a tank that stands up the the hordes or mobs, rushes into 60 fallen and stands untouched at the end of combat. Even better- i really do not feel as tho my dps has suffered at all. im actually doing more dps then a DW barb i partner with, while coming to his rescue with a heal and my dodge buff when needed.

Not all classes in a game are supposed to do LEET dps. Monks and Barbs are frontline fighters and if you looked at skills you could tell that the monk and barb are born to be tanky-dps (if i can use a Dota term) you go into the think of it, debuff/slow/cripple the enemy while a ranged cleans them up in one skill giving your team a xp boost.

posted a message on You guys see Athene's 3 Sec Butcher Kill?
good for him. he plans on helping other fans do runs, and he then said that once the live AH goes live he will b selling them for money and donating it all right back into his fund.

personally, i think the fans helped him way to much, but its all for charity so i really cant complain

posted a message on Do Disintegrate + Venom Hydra benefit from Attack Speed % increases?
i believe nerax is correct. My wiz is running 2.00 attack speed, and i can see a large increase in the dps of disintegrate and hydra. I havent examined blizzard without my attack speed, but it does seem to do a good chunk of damage.

I'm only level 26 right now so not much to tell. I do like this build at the moment though. It melts through the enemies incredibly quick.

change acid clouds rune to blob when u get the chance. its amazing and if you spam it like i do, the lil blobs will help alot in dealing aoe dmg . they ahve actually suprised me with their power in a boss fight. (spam till empty-spiritwalk to replenish mana-spam again. you have around 8 blobs on your target now doing a shitton of dps)

posted a message on WD the unfinished class.
i love wd, but one thing i have found...unlike the other classes, there seems like WD suffers from a lack of skill build types. Mages can spec into elements or even go as a battlemage. monk has tank/dps/support builds...barb has tank/dps but can also play with a variety of weapon types...DH is the only other class i see that can only truly be a dps class.

the weakness of zombie dogs past normal kills any hope alot of players had for a viable pet based build. Im hoping players start finding more item modifiers that can change up our builds. (thorns and stack vit? doesnt work with molten/plagued) game is in its infancy at this point so im not judging to harshly.

posted a message on [Spoiler] Chris Metzen hints at future Expansion(s) direction
i would much rather have to fight Imperious. i was disapointed how the confrontation happened, with him basiclly dieing/ drained of power by diablo so you cannot fight him. i feel he will be in the expansion as at least a plot point...maybe he comes to stop us from further interfering with souls themselves

posted a message on Legendary items feel underpowered
I wouldnt judge any legendaries untill you get into inferno and get the legendaries unqiue to that difficulty...just like in wow with dungeon sets...they are not going to match the power of a raid item, but will help you lvl up
