posted a message on Crafting from the Stash
Does anyone know if Blizzard has plans to allow us to craft by leaving all the mats in our shared stash?

Personally, I find it annoying to drop of Tomes and the like everytime I switch characters, should I want to do some gem upgrading. Also, I frequently end up with extra gems when I unsocket gems from items, and it requires an extra, albeit short, trip to the stash. It would be nice if we could simply leave all crafting materials in a shared stash and use them without carrying them in our inventory (perhaps even a separate material stash).

    Thoughts?

is plain stupid, how is it ''fun'' to wait for 30+ seconds to rez? they need to change this because this isn't WoW... i'm getting annoyed as hell when I die multiple times agains't a elite and have to wait to continue playing, they could have though of something else to punish death, not something that makes me wanna throw my computer away...

maybe it's just me but when I die I want to be where i was ASAP to have my revenge and kill the mobs that killed me, not to wait 30+ seconds before doign so..., I understand the ''need'' in WoW but it's not here in Diablo no one is gonna PK you...

Yeah, well, that's the point now isn't it? If you are waiting 30+ seconds over and over again it means that you simply aren't good and/or geared enough for the content you are facing. Removing the timer would mean that you could easily kite a pack back to your spawn point, whittling down their HP between deaths until they are dead. This is exactly why there is a timer to begin with.

It's not "stupid", it's there to keep players like you from killing packs they shouldn't be able to kill. And no, 30+ seconds is not "3-4 deaths", it's far more than that.

I suspect your line of reasoning is correct, that it eliminates players cheesing through enemies. Occassionally though, there are mobs that, frankly, are unfair in certain situations, as we've all come across. Generally, like the OP, I prefer to kill everything I encounter, and so I'm willing to ram my head against a wall trying to kill those mobs, but I would like to make my attempts at doing so faster.

Additionally, remaking a game to avoid an elite pack is almost as tacky as clearing an elite mob through respawn attrition, though it must be done in some cases (i.e. fast spiders in caves as a DH). It's also unfortunate to clear a stack of Nephalem Valor due to one pack you can't avoid, which would happen if the game was remade (again, I'm thinking caves/ tight spaces). Thus, I don't necessarily see a situation in which a player acquires a large respawn cooldown as necessarily being a direct result of a lack of gear or lack of skill (though it may be).

All that said, I think the timer is reasonable, but there really is no need for anything longer than a 10 second respawn. Hell, even after the 8 (maybe 7?) second respawn, champion packs regain all there health anyways. What purpose does a 20+ second respawn have?

    Invulnerable minions, mortar, fast, frozen

I don't mind the frozen, but the other three are the worst as a DH player. Particularly when you put them on any of the already fast mobs in act II or III. Replace frozen with illusionist, and I would just cry.

To the OP: As everyone else has said, Smoke Screen (Lingering Fog) will make Hell a lot easier. Personally, I find Vault more fun, but objectively, I don't think it's even close in terms of usefulness. Another suggestion I might add is using Vengeance as a passive. The extra hatred can be really useful, but the bonus hatred/discipline from health orbs is outstanding.

    Quote from Xeley

Right, so the sad thing right now is that even when smokescreen has been nerfed to oblivion making it borderline to bad and nearly FORCING Demon Hunters to play in groups it's still better than the rest of the shitty skill set we have. Kind of says something about how "well made" our skills are, doesn't it?

How did they change Smoke Screen? I've been playing for a couple hours today, and I haven't noticed much difference?

From 2 sec no CD borderline to 1 sec, 3 sec CD.
There was our only viable defensive mechanic in inferno, HF :-)

Yea, I didn't realize it with some of the packs I was fighting early on today. It's absurd how that skill functions now. If a mob has "fast", we're pretty much toast. The worst is that they still track you for a few seconds even after you use the ability. Hopefully, they will fix it so that the cool down coincides with the end of the Smoke Screen, at least when using the Lingering Fog rune. I still love the DH, so I'll have to find a work around for it.

posted a message on Level 58 in Act 2 Hell Mode. DPS?
I feel like your DPS should be adequate for all but Belial. I just completed Act II on Hell today, ending with ~7k dps and 19k health, but I went through most of the act with 4.5k dps and 16k health. If you feel like you aren't getting drops, don't worry. Most everything of use on my character always comes through the Auction Hall. I would suggest looking at the highest end items for a particular category, and then scroll a couple pages. You'll usually find something very useful with a low buyout cost.

So now with some good arguments, why would i take smoke screen over vault? vault+caltreps is working fine?

Odd I was considering getting rid of caltrops.
The slow seems to do nothing, and the bind of torturous ground works ok on weak mobs, but barely seems to do anything at all to champions. And I mow down regular mobs like its nothing most of the time.

This a thousand times over. I got rid of Caltrops once I hit Hell, grabbed Smoke Screen (yes, I was an idiot who didn't realize the power of it), and will never look back. I simply got to the point where the packs that gave me trouble were slowed so little/for so little time by Caltrops that it became rather pointless.

I don't think the benefit is so much in the slow at higher levels, it's using the Jagged Spike rune and doing the area damage. This is particularly effective on enemies with melee abilities. Lure them over, stack a couple Caltrops, and then Smoke Screen. It clears out mobs, even champions, fairly quickly. Needless to say, there are potentially more useful skills that may suit your build better, but I think Jagged Spikes is hands down the best Caltrops rune for anything past normal, particularly with Cull the Weak as a passive.

posted a message on Ungrateful people
My experience has been relatively good so far, concerning disconnects and the like, though I've still had my fair share of annoyances as well. I think some individuals have been a bit over zealous in their rage, but I can understand where some of their frustration comes from. I think Blizzard's attitude prior to release is partially to blame for the excessive backlash. Their mantra of "it's ready when it's ready" suggested that everything should be functional on release day, May 15th. Furthermore, the number of cuts they made to the game just before release should have ensured everything else was polished, including (for the most part) servers, especially since there is no offline component, and Blizzard already has experience with a very large online only game.

All this said, my general view of the game is positive. It's fun, and it has a high production value. I realize that servers are a bit of a wildcard, so I'm being patient for the first few weeks. Objectively, the truth about this release is probably somewhere in between "WORST EVARRRR!" and "BLIZZARD IS DA BEST OR GTFO", and we should demonstrate some patience, at least for another week.

In an ideal world, everything would be functioning perfectly, but I much prefer the rocky launch to another delay in the game's already lengthy development.

    Quote from Serefkana

Hungering Arrow I tried on single target, and was sorely disappointed... It barely pierces, and when it does, it rarely comes back and hits the target. You're just left there left-click all the while going "come on pierce, pierce!"

I really wanna try out the Impending Doom Bola Shot rune, the extra damage would make it probably the best for single target as well as for packs of mobs. The double delay though, could be tricky... I hate getting hit in the 1 second in takes for Bola Shot to kill the target <_<

EDIT: Nevermind, I realized Entangling Shot-Chain Gang is AMAZING for Hell. Now I use Cull the Weak, along with Chain Gang and Web Shot Rapid Fire. Nothing gets close, and nothing gets away. And I switched my Preparation rune from Battle Scars to Backup Plan. I've had it proc 4 in a row, that's 30seconds of invulnerability o_0

Not sure what your entire set up is, but if you add Caltrops (Jagged Spike), it destroys mobs that are close range, especially if you add in Cluster Arrow (Stun Grenade rune). They just sit inside the Caltrops, taking large amounts of damage. With Backup Plan, if you have the Discipline to spare, you can stack the Caltrops too, which is surprisingly effective at taking down Champion packs. Just make sure you have enough Discipline for s Smoke Screen should the need arise.

I personally prefer Entangling Shot + Cull the Weak as a passive. It increases the damage of all skills on those that are snared, and it keeps most mobs from jumping on you too quickly. To be fair though, I've only used bola shot for a small period of time. I want to make a build using the stun rune or the % chance to gain discipline rune.

    Quote from Silvist

What I'd like to know from some of the higher lvl demon hunters out there, is what is your dps? Right now I'm about lvl 35 ish, and doing bout 705 dps. I pretty much have all my gear dex with vit when I can afford it. I achieve the dps with a mostly dex, +damage rings/ammy, and a weapon socketed with a ruby (currently p-ruby) .

I was at about the same place when I was your level, maybe around 850. I was dual weilding 1 handed xbows, each with some form of ruby. At level 44 in NM now, and I'm at 1.5k, which I feel is low. I haven't found many exceptional bows or quivers along the way, and I sacrifice a lot of dps for vitality. I think I have about 15k health or so. Once you get used to having lots of + vit gear on, it's hard to sacrifice the health. I've found that socketed helms with amethyst is a good way to compensate for such dropoffs, howeve.

This is what I use for everything but bosses.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bPQdYV!bec!aaaaZb

Depending on the boss, there is a little variation, but I'll usually replace multishot with rapid fire (web shot rune), vengeance with thrill of the hunt, and caltrops with shadow power (blood moon rune).

As a side note, my favorite fights are planned miniboss fights where you get to plan when the fight starts, for example, when you take the crown of the skeleton king. I'll replace a couple skills with Caltrops (Torturous Ground) and Spike Traps (Bandolier), spam the maximum of each right where the enemy will spawn, and then usually they just keel over or have very little health. I definitely do not recommended for longer boss fights, due to the inefficiency of changing skills on the fly.
