posted a message on Some thoughts about DH Gear! Must read..

#1) The bonus is multiplicative. Meaning, assuming your +30% vs +45% is looking at 1200%*1.3 vs 1200% * 1.45, or an 11.5% damage bonus from +15%. Needless to say, that's very significant.

    #2) So you have 80 Discipline. UE 6pc gives you 1200% damage from that. +12 discipline is 1380%, 100*12.00 = 1200, 100*13.8= 1380. 1380/1200 = 1.15, or a 15% damage increase.

F/R is a +125% damage increase. Each ring you would replace needs to be AT LEAST a 62.5% damage increase OVERALL. Elements is +50% on a perfect ring. SOJ is usually #2, being about ~+40-50%, depending on rolls. Manald heal, however, in your gear is only going to give you a 15% damage bonus on its secondary effect.

There is no ring that matches f/r currently in the game. Wizard & Barbarian are pretty much the only classes who don't jump on F/R because Halo is so overpowered, and 5wastes/3IK is a thing.

    posted a message on Pre-marauders
So, I've been trying to get a full set of mrauders on my fresh season DH, and I've hit a brick wall. I got 3 pieces by paragon 20, 4th at paragon 60, and now I'm paragon 150, and convinced it's just not going to happen. 7000 Blood shards spent on legs & boots with no luck. I;ve also been running with 4 DHs on everything who were willing to give up legs/boots for me. Needless to say, I'm still sitting on 4 pieces + a rorg.

So the question is: What's a good build pre-marauders? I have access to all of the quivers, all of the bows and every set except Marauders. I have all flavors of SOJ and all around pretty good gear - just not sure what's strong. I've been trying to test things out, but overall I haven't found anything that stands above the rest. Is there a strong non-sentry build on DH?

blah blah diablo 3 is bad, whatever.

With your 4800 hours a day you could greatly help the gambling / Cache threads ascertain more accurate numbers. Do you keep data on what your bots get?

posted a message on Best Legendary Farmspot
It's an interesting idea, but it's not the fastest known. Few things when you attempt to share a Legendary farm spot.

    1) Have EXACT time. If you farmed for 6 hours 20 minutes, say you farmed for 6 hours 20 minutes. If you farmed for 50 minutes, say that.

    2) One hour is pointless. In one hour I found 14 Legendaries. What usefulness is this info? It's moot, it's completely obvious this was a fluke. Obviously having 4 people does help this a little, but not much.

    3) A good legendary farm run averages 3-4 Legendaries per hour. Average is 2-3, low is 1-2. This is assuming a certain level of gear, but you get the idea. The best experience runs, currently, offer roughly 2-2.5 legendaries per hour, on average, on T1 at ~150k dps, and a clear speed that is to be expectant of that level of gear.

You average, from what you've shown, 1.75 legendaries per hour and 600M xp(likely lower if you slowed down from your very first run, which was :29 - 1:21 reaching the zone, roughly). You would achieve better xp and legendaries from T1 Keeps level 2. It's also a lot more enjoyable than farming a single boss. Cheers!

posted a message on 2h Weapon Fix
    Quote from Chudz

1300 dps is working as intended 2h have never had significantly more dps than 1 nor should they. They have high alpha damage and slow attack speed. It has nothing to do wit's why they are bad ATM. The reason why they are bad is that they only role 4 primary stats and a socket is also a primary stat. So after it has roled say dex and % damage and elemental damage and a socket your don't get much better. No room for life on hit or crit etc.
2Handers absolutely must be significantly better than 1handers to be even considered by players. Why, you might ask? Because they have to make up for(in Monk/Barbs case): Either a shield or more commonly... 15% ias, 200-400 primary stat, an extra gem slot (+11%+ damage to elites or +100%-110% crit hit damage). They do make up for the stat, but 15% ias AND an extra gem slot is MASSIVE. In the case of Witch doctor & Wizard it has to make up 220 average damage(on a 1.6s weapon, ~350 dps) for an average offhand. I know jack about demon hunter gearing, so I won't comment on their bows vs xbow vs 1h crossbows.

15% IAS and an Extra gem slot. Up to 350-400 DPS(base), 10% crit as well as flavor. These are the two things you give up to go 2h. At the very least, 2H should be seeing 1600-1700 base DPS, and EVEN THEN they may not be optimal, due to gems. (We're seeing 1300-1400 DPS 1Hs with gem slots and 300+ primary stat on top of the end rolls. Two of these are equivalent of ~1610 DPS. Couple 100% crit hit damage, and you've got a lot to make up here.)

So Yes, 2Hs should have a significant advantage over 1Hs. Otherwise there is no reason to use a 2H except in niche builds, and even in those it may be seen as disadvantageous over simply using a 1h with a shield. I can't even fathom when a 2.0 rolled 2H can ever be even considered on a witch doctor or Wizard, due to how powerful offhands are.

Blizzard also agrees with this, as can be seen by crafted items. *spoilers*:

posted a message on 1.0.9 Legendary Item Improvements
There's a pretty easy way to keep rares in the mix, Diablo 2 did this very well.

Rare circlets, Rare amulets, and Rare rings are all great examples of this out of Diablo 2. It's very simple, You make a nice item, take Mempo of Twilight for example. Mempo offers, 80 all res, 12% life, +200 int/dex/str, open socket, +crit chance, and 9% attack speed. Just to start off, this item is just too good. There is no competition, this item has every single stat any player could want, and there is no possible way for a rare to EVER be better, it's just that good. However, Let's say a rare could roll All res, % life, +200 int/dex/str, +crit chance, + attack speed, and +5% damage to x ability, like Diablo 2 could(It was actually +1-3 all skills).

The issue is there's no choice. This is poor itemization, they wanted to keep rares best in slot but then completely fucked it up. It was either rares are too much better than uniques, or they just simply over-compensate and at least one unique for every slot that's perfect. Mempo of Twilight, Tal rasha's armor, Nats boots/ring, Hellfire ring(at least this one has some randomization to it), Triumvirate, Chantodo's setup, Echoing Fury, WKL, Witching Hour, etc, etc, etc.

In Diablo 2, there were options, MEANINGFUL options. Did you want a Jeweler armor of the Whales? Did you want Enigma? Tyraels? A nice rare with good all around stats? Did you want a circlet with +2 to your class, All res, FCR, Str, etc on it? Andariels? Dream? Delirium? Vamp Gaze? etc.Did you want a Runeword weapon? What about one of the awesome uniques? Did you get a sweet roll on a rare weapon with near perfect stats?

The list goes on, I'm sure Diablo 3 will pan out over time, but currently you have a game that's easier than it was on day 1, with gear that is better than anything anyone could have gotten on day 1, and inflated stats galore. Itemization is a mess right now, and we're already coming to the point where uniques outclass rares almost everywhere.

    http://www.viciouscattle.com/forum/thread-1024-1-1.html
Best in slot list for monk, it literally has TWO found items on it: a ring, and a weapon. Three crafted rares, and the rest are legendaries/sets. If you roll with Lightning monk, WLK > that rare, making it 1 found item on that list that is only good once you're paragon 100 - before that you'd want to use Hellfire. So, for a majority of players playing Lightning Monk, There are 0 found rares that are best in slot, and all of these legendaries/sets are fairly easy to come by, or cheap to buy - though obviously not with perfect stats :P.

posted a message on MP10 No AH challenge - Which class?
To make this clear: I'm a huge fan of Roguelikes. Games that are brutally hard, and punish you even harder. I want to see difficulty, I want to die in normal my first time through - I love games like this. I want to spend months and months on this trying to get to the next level, then brutally fall back to the start when I mess up. I want to have to think when I play and not just charge in and hold right click. In short - I want to really feel like it was an achievment to mop up the floor with Diablo on inferno, striking my first hardcore full game clear. I want to be reminded of my grey bow no armor amazing HC run, when I fell face first into act 2 of nightmare.

I see this as fun. Kaizo Mario, Masochistic mario, these were a blast. Games like Ultima Online, Zettai Hero Project, etc. I'm looking forward to this challenge, just unsure what exactly to take it as. :)

posted a message on Wow... Kill CM and BUFF other skills?
    Quote from Hellfrog

    Quote from rebjorn

If there's anything Blizz are good at it's balancing things, anyone who's played WoW for a long time can vouch for that.

you must be kidding or you have never ever played WoW. it doesnt matter if its pve or pvp but has nor ever will it be balanced... if you wanna talk about a balanced blizzard game (without any RNG whatsoever) then theres only Starcraft to talk about (especially Brood War). if you dont believe me, just check old parses and season class distribution for WoW

OT: disappointed about a preview that doesnt include all infos and emphasizes skill diversity... ya thats outrageous, what is blizzard thinking? you dont even have numbers to compare the skills so calm down and wait till you read the patchnotes and maybe can try the skills by yourself

Top viable dps spec in pvp is roughly 10-20% off from bottom viable dps spec.

Let's compare this with a few other games I've played, shall we?

Final Fantasy 11, Black belt monk does roughly triple the damage of any other class, They can also tank, solo, etc better than most other classes. They think this is fine.

Ultima Online...just this entire game was never balanced. It gives you teh freedom to choose your skills, but it was very VERY clearly not balanced well at all.

Aion, Star wars, etc. Balance? dafuq is that.

    Now, Let's look at WoW.

The weakest pvp class has a 5.3% representation(hunter) in 2200+ gameplay, with a 10.4% representation overall, globally. Rogues have a 14.1% 2200+, and 7.8% globally. These are the two biggest extremes, most classes are between 9-11%. I'd call that pretty damn near balanced - with having 30 specs, and only 2 outliers. Every single spec has at least 1 player over 2.2k, I might add.

Let's waddle over to PVE - There's not a single class that isn't in the top 10 for SOME fight. Morchok - Warriors, Rogues, Locks, Rets - top 10 parses.
    Zonozz - Rogue, Mage, Warrior.
Yor'sahj - Mage, Warrior, Druid, Rogue
    Blackthorn - Priest, Boomkin, Rogue
    Spine - Shaman, Hunter, Boomkin
Madness has a DK in the top 10
etc.. This is just from a cursory glance at World of Logs.

Blizzard is pretty good at balancing, whether you want to see that or not is another story. The classes are incredibly balanced, dps being within 10% of eachother, PVP showing every class with a healthy representation over 2200+, All around solid.

I trust blizz to eventually iron out the glitches in the balancing department, just give em time.

On topic: Change was needed. It won't effect good players much, might give it a higher gear requirement to play it, but not by much.

posted a message on PSA: Don't undercut commodities
    Economics basics: Supply and Demand.

When the supply surpases the demand, the price WILL go down. THe price is constantly fluxuating: In a stable market the market is constantly fluxuating higher and lower from a fixed point. In a suppliers market the price is constantly fluxuating upwards: there will be occasional downward influx, but the general trend is going up. The downward spikes are from people undercutting in this scenario.

In a Buyers market the supply surpasses the demand. In this scenario the price is constantly on a downward trend until finally reaching a stabilized point - or going under. This is the scenario you reach with the Commodities market: There are FAR more suppliers than their is demand. Undercuts happen in order to sell product - and the price never rebounds because their are so many sellers, and so few buyers(relative).

This is a true free market. Without blizzard's meddling, this is the kind of economy we will have. It's a good thing: The alternative is someone setting prices(which would be bad, it causes issues like we're going through in America).

posted a message on Kripp tips @Blizzard
    Quote from Zero(pS)

    Ladder = accomplishment? That's a concept I'll never understand.

Do people really need that virtual mean to keep their self esteem high? In this day and age?

Being able to do as much within a game, enjoy absolutely every part of it (cinematics, story, lore, art, soundtrack, effects, all gameplay possibilities in all classes and different builds as I level up, different end-game builds), have fun with friends while laughing at dumb things, and make it all as time-efficient as possible (considering I don't have 80 hours+ a week anymore for games) is my idea of an accomplishment. And it's saddening to me how "hardcore gamers" nowadays are moving away from that.

I wish people would just let go of the need to show how good and unique they are within a media that's supposed to be a time out from the serious stuff that's real life (where you actually have to prove to others how important you are, specially in your profession).

It's not about showing off. I do challenges for almost every game I've played. I don't think I've ever posted about it though. I joined every Iron Man in D2 I saw, I did plenty of naked/grey gear runs in HC, Plenty of FFX challenge runs(favorite game~ :D), Speed runs, WoW soloing, Terraria Challenges, etc. It's not about showing off, It's about setting a goal and completeing it.

Sure, Some players boast. You know that guy who posts his DPS in wow after every fight, or people who actually act like Athene's Character. I don't really see that in Kripp, which is why I actually like the guy. This isn't a case of "qq I want to show off" It's a case of: I'm done with the game. Now what? Diablo 2 had the HUGE leveling grind to 99, which was nearly impossible - and deaths were punished by HUGE hits to XP. Achievments might have done something if they weren't so damned easy. Leveling 1-60 takes only a couple of days of 'hardcore' casual playing.

Reaching a point where you can farm Act 1/act3 inferno isn't really that rough - especially for non-monks. (Tornado Sprint Barb build, Zombie Bears, Any wiz/Dh builds) and even for monks it's only ~50M for a set of gear that can faceroll the game(This may sound like a lot to some of you - but keep in mind, this is it. There is nothing after this). Now what? Do you just continue to farm? For what reason? You have no harder bosses, You have no extra content, You have no harder mobs... You just have this.

What kripp is proposing is a system that allows you to continue to work towards a goal. It's not about bragging, it's not about showing off, It's about giving you something to aim for that gives Insignificant, or aesthetic bonuses(which again - aren't all about bragging rights. you can only show off to 3 other people anyways - I can't imagine this being a big deal).
