You should not care about what other people do in this game or any game.
Just because you don't like the story doesn't mean that millions of people don't.
The only definitive proof for who hit 60 first would have to come from Blizzard.
You realize I copied the thead from another thread don't you? Even the thread TITLE has been copied... and well.. bashiok lied, made a mistake... its not really important.. its nothing personal against bashiok,... so get down from your high horse.
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything at all.. I love diablo 1 2 3.... i LOVE blizzard... im one of the biggest blizz fanboys around... so this is coming from somebody who love the guys, but could use improvement in some areas..
Blizzard aint always right
True but there are more worth while things to bitch about, an example is the $250 cap in RMAH. Due to the cap and the "minor" inconvenience to obtain your money (authenticator should be enough) this now allows 3rd party sites an opportunity that previously didn't exist with an unlimited price range. This will affect the economy (slightly) and has potentials to disturb the community... and here we are complaining about names. It's about picking your battles and not getting excited over every little thing that happens.
This particular thread is about names, we already went through RMAH last week with 200 different threads... why is this considered a petty QQ session, it is a fundamental of any RPG.
You can still name your character. You will still see your name. The NPCs will still use your name. You will still use your name when talking to the NPCs.
Unless you're coming up with a genuine fantasy name and planning on RPing on your characters, IT IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT HOW YOU ARE IDENTIFIED.
Good argument! I'm pretty sure arguing about what you don't like about a game is part of the point of a forum.
Actually, the point of a forum is to have a reasoned and intelligent discussion about the topic at hand. When one person storms in yelling and cursing and refusing to listen to reasoned arguments, he's overreacting.
Also, if I remember correctly, the NPCs will use your name, it will only appear if you have the option to display their text in the chat window.
Also this statement refutes the OPs claim that "you won't see your name anywhere in game ever."
While you'll be able to see your own character name (and while there will be situations when other players can see your character's name, too), your BattleTag nickname will be your primary form of identification.
Secondly, with the exception of MMOs (and even some MMOs), most online games will prominently display your handle/gamertag/battletag when you're dealing with other people online instead of your character name. It makes things easier.
Thirdly, your character name is visible on your character screen. The NPCs call you by your character name.

Set to Nightmare.
Kill Act 3 last boss.
Kill Act 4 first boss.
Repeat.

Lay off the drugs, son. It's affecting your mind in ways that will harm you when you grow up.
You won't just be playing with the same three people over and over again if you're playing public, so your in-game reputation will matter.
I weep for America's future because of you.
There is absolutely no viable reason why your battletag shouldn't be prominently displayed in-game.

Fourthly, you're greatly overreacting.

Because WoW is the only online game to ever track progress.
