    Quote from Zero(pS)

That isn't pointed at anyone in particular in this thread. Probably not even in our forums in this past week.

I can point you to at least a dozen posts on the official forums with that, though. If they care more about what someone says on a social media or making ignorant remarks at every opportunity instead of behaving like intelligent human beings, I will gladly point out their stupidity.

We are better than that. And we should hold ourselves and our peers to higher standards.

It's just that I'm on something of a personal crusade to stamp out the use of the word "retard" as an insult, because it can be quite offensive to people who actually suffer from mental retardation (or those who care for them).

Sorry, I'll stop highjacking the thread.

Problem: all the stupid useless "noise" created by all the retards who can only make threads on the official forums talking about Jay Wilson's "fuck that loser" for 2 months, or how "D3 is in beta". We've had our fair share of those types of posts/threads here as well.

While I completely agree with the sentiment, I'd like to very politely request that somebody with the title of "senior moderator" refrain from calling other posters on another forum "retards."

With that said, your posts in this thread have been spot-on.

posted a message on 1.07 vs 1.08 Monster Density Comparison
    Nice video, thanks!

I downloaded the ptr and gave act 1 a try for about 45 minutes. I will admit I was skeptical that monster density was anything more than a cosmetic fix that wouldn't actually address the replayability of the game, but at least for the short term, I was pleasantly surprised. Act 1 felt awesome, and since I like both the story and asthetics of act 1 the best, I think the game just got significantly more replayable for me, even without any itemization changes/fixes yet applied.

Just throw all the possible upgrades for alts into your stash, and check them all at once later.

If you're stash is full, clean it out. There's a lot of room in there, and I doubt you need everything you have if you've filled 3 full tabs.

In nearly a year of playing, I almost never have any lag, and have never once disconnected.

Almost never ? One deadly lag is enugh, you know.

I only lost one char to a disconnect, but that was enugh for me. After overcoming all the difficulties and finaly building up enugh wealth and a good enugh char to clear inferno for the first time and then you get stopped at the end of act3 by a timeout... Well, it is not for me.

I am not saying that it will happen all the time, but for me, once was enugh.

    Fair enough.

I'll stop highjacking this thread now.

Only start if you can live with the idea that your character will be killed by a disconnet or a server lag.

I stopped HC after losing my more or less immortal barb to a disconnect. No matter how good your char is or your playing skill, you can always lose your char to blizzards server "quality".

It's amazing to me how often people blame Blizzard for every lag spike and disconnect. In nearly a year of playing, I almost never have any lag, and have never once disconnected. A friend of mine lags all the time, disconnects many times a day, and also has trouble getting web pages to load, and is "so pissed" at Blizzard when it is clearly his ISP that is at fault.

The servers aren't nearly as laggy or unstable as people think. Their ISPs, however, probably suck.

Well, a link to a post you made on the official forums proposing one possible implementation of endless dungeons with no specific discussion relevant to hardcore wasn't really what I was looking for, but thanks for your input.

I've recently made the switch to full-time hardcore, because I'm just completely sick of the dps race in softcore that has led to a playstyle that makes death completely irrelevant and not something to be even remotely feared. I don't have any characters to 60 yet, but I'm working on it!

Anyway, as a softcore player, I've long been interested in the concept of endless dungeons as a way of adding new content and challenges to the game. Given the quote from Travis Day up on the front page about the dev team considering them, it made me think about how they would fit into my new life as a hardcore player. The concept is basically that each level gets harder until eventually you reach a level you can't clear, and you die, right? If that's the way they would be designed, I can't imagine they would be very attractive to the hardcore community.

So, what do you think? Is there any way to add endless dungeons that would appeal to the hardcore community, or are they simply destined to be ignored by all of us with one life only?

Interesting. My money is on Blizzard All-Stars, but who knows, maybe they will surprise us. If it was going to be truly as newsworthy and significant as many of us secretly hope, they probably would have waited for Blizzcon later this year.

I sold one very similar to your first one, except +10 disc instead of +9, +30% elite damage instead of +28%, and some useless DH skill modifier instead of elemental arrow (I don't remember which one) for 5 million about two weeks ago. Your rolls aren't perfect, whereas mine were, but your skill is way more useful, so I'd guess you can get more.

Offering such a service to allow players to trade account-bound gear would simply screw the whole system :x

Blizzard said feature like this will be available post launch. But then again... they said many other things...

Reference? I don't ever remember this.

posted a message on Gear Customization Coming in Future Patch, Diablo 3 Was Designed for PC, No Cross-Platform Play or Characters, Witch Doctor Sugg
    Quote from ErlendOlsen

No, the PC version of Diablo III was not designed for console from the beginning.

No one is saying that Diablo 3 was designed for consoles from the beginning. At least not that I've heard. What I have argued, and continue to argue is that somewhere in the middle of development, a deal was struck with Sony. "Which of our great titles could translate well to Consoles" is what we were told on the Sony stage. That deal, in my mind was struck mid 2010.

That’s when we, the REAL fans of Diablo, started getting all kinds of weird news about the development:

    Skill Trees: Gone
    Stat Points: Gone
    Stat System: Reworked
    Rune Itemization: Gone

Everything started getting streamlined, and dumbed down during mid 2010.

So no, we don't think D3 was designed for consoles FROM THE BEGINING. It took the development and yanked the wheel off course during mid 2010.

"One couch to rule them all" What an insulting slogan for Diablo fans - I was genuinely embarrassed and insulted by that. He used the words "Ease and simplicity" when describing D3. The game was streamlined and made EASY once the console agenda was set in place.

Spin it any way you want, Lylirra, but your just playing with words.

I'm not sure I buy this, because the dumbing down and simplifying of D3 is exactly in line with the long-term trends seen in WoW. Yes, it's true that the game seemed to start much more complex and then become simpler and simpler over time, but I think a more logical explanation is that this development team was having trouble getting things to mesh together perfectly, and either they or the higher-ups decided to just push forward with a simpler game that would appeal to more of the masses.

I also think there was a failure at the highest levels (above Jay Wilson) to understand the relative importance of a great combat system and a great itemization system. The combat system in D3 is absolutely fantastic, and doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves, but the itemization sucks. From many of the comments made by various Blizzard folks, it seems to me that Jay was hired because of all the great ideas on combat, boss battles, etc. he was bringing to the table. That aspect of the game is nearly perfect, which is why Blizzard seems much happier than Jay than fans feel is deserved. The itemization is total garbage, but it seems to me that was caused by a massive, widespread failure to recognize its importance.

Also, don't forget about Warcraft 4. If it is in development (and I suspect it is), I don't think there's a chance in hell it gets announced before SC2:LotV is out or at least announced, but if we're discussing everything on their possible future game calendar, there is this one to consider.

I suspect (with no real knowledge other than rampant speculation) that Titan will NOT be announced this year. I remember an interview with somebody back at Blizzcon 2011 (I don't remember who it was with) where the person talked about how, in their excitement to announce new games, they were starting to find themselves as a company in a position where they release too much info too early, and then get burned by it. I suspect that was a direct reference to D3, which was already 3 years past announcement but not yet close to launch, but also sc2, which had a very long announce-to-launch time.

Most reasonable estimates of Titan's launch seem to put it at least 2 years away, possibly more like mid-to-late 2015 (of course these are all based on pure speculation). If the game really is that far away, I don't expect an announcement.
