Pausing works while solo
checkpoints and waypoints makes sure you can get back to your area where you left over pretty quick but if it's a waypoint into a dungeon it's pretty random where you spawn.

Hey guys and girls, for those playing the Beta or who may know this stuff I'm hoping someone can answer a couple of questions about D3.
I'm furious that D3 is online only. I've learned to accept it, but it seems there may be other issues for me with this system.
- Pausing. Can you pause D3? I read you cant and the closest thing to it is finding somewhere safe (town I presume) and... just standing there, which leads me to my next point.
- Autokick. Will you get kicked from inactivity? I'm married with a little girl so I'll often play games between doing the dishes, cooking diner, putting the little one to bed etc,etc and will often come and go from a game. Being kicked isnt so bad if I can save at any point, but this leads to my next point.
- Saving. Can you save at any point, or do you need to find a checkpoint? If so....
- Checkpoint Availability. I also read that sometimes checkpoints can be VERY far between... like 2 hours in some cases. More time than I usually even spend playing on a week night.
I hope all this isn't true and it seems like a bad dream. If it is, there really wont be much hope for me to D3 properly at all and I'll probably just pass on it altogether in this format.
Thanks in advance.
You cannot pause the game, even when playing alone. You may always teleport back to town or take a waypoint and idle there.
No idea on autokick. I know that the game does not currently have kick functionality as far as doing it manually. Actually now that I think about it, I saw 3 people afking in a video for almost 2 hours and not only did they not get kicked, they actually still got around 2/3rds of the experience...
The game is always saving. It's basically persistent in it's saving.
From what I saw of the beta checkpoints (as far as quest progress) weren't very far apart at all. It only takes about an hour to kill the skeleton king from the start of the act to him, and that's around 4 quests I think.
It takes about 10 seconds to quit the game if you aren't in town, and you have an instant quit option if you are in town. I don't think that you will have as much problems with the game as you foresee. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I don't care about Blizzards technical issues, thats not my problem. They are a company like any other, selling a product that I have purchased that so far doesn't work. They have chosen to make a game that requires internet and server access even for a single player experience. I have no issues with technical issues when I'm trying to play online multiplayer but this... is just ludicrous.
I have a wife, young daughter and a demanding job and my time is very precious and for this reason I have actually taken time off work to play D3 as I have very little time to do it in my day to day life. I don't want to go for a walk, get something to eat or chill out. I had taken time of work, using holiday pay and causing more work to go back to tomorrow for nothing.
In about 30 minutes It'll be time to go and pick up my daughter, put on some dinner and then it'll be back to daily grind tomorrow and trying to squeeze in an hour each night of free time to play D3... thats if its working of course.

There were 2x distinct glitches in the game that enabled gear to be easily duped(licated) and to also level up quickly.
Before long brand new players were everywhere and in top level gear that could take up to 4000+ to find, completely kitted out before they had even played the first act.
I couldnt count the amount of times a player, covered in Epic/Rare gear would be completely ignorant and misinformed about how the game was made, inlcuding skills, proc rates, class bonusses, weapon bonusses etc, etc.
Suffice to say that it was hillarious when you see guys that look so pretty in their new (illegal) armour DIE every 2 minutes.
I think D3 will be the same. Gear aside, if you dont know how the skills work, what enemies are the biggest threat, understand the relationship between skills, classes and gear then you will fail.

Well I did some math on Frenzy+Maniac Vs Bash+Onslaught.
Comparing these 2 skills has to count the total number of attacks for each Skill within the same amount of time. Using anything less than 1 attack (.15% of an attack for example) for calculations in inaccurate. Using IAS (Increased Attack Speed) is also inaccurate.
This is what I came up with..... and I think its pretty accurate.

1 sec - 110%
.85 sec - 114% -- (224%)
.70 sec - 118% -- (342%)
.55 sec - 122% -- (464% -- 3.1 sec -- Bash has done 582%, striking 3 times Vs Frenzy's 4)
.40 sec - 126% -- (590% -- 3.5 sec -- At this point Frenzy has struck again before Bash can)
.25 sec - 130% -- (720% -- 3.75 sec -- Frenzy has stuck a 2nd time before Bash can)
.25 sec - 130% -- (850% -- 4 sec -- Bash has now Hit for 194%, much less than Frenzy's 130% however, Frenzy has struck a total of 3 times more in the same amount of time, resulting in more damage being done)
Total Damage in 4 seconds = 850%
Damage in the following 4 seconds once Frenzy has stacked is as follows. Total = 2080%
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
Total Damage in 8 seconds = 2930%
_______________________________________________
1 sec - 194%
1 sec - 194% -- 388%
1 sec - 194% -- 582%
1 sec - 194% -- 776%
Total Damage in 4 seconds = 776%
Total Damage in 8 seconds = 1552% (damage simply doubled, no modifiers applicable)

What this basically means, is that unless an enemy is destroyed by Bash+Onslaught in 3 strikes or less, Frenzy+Maniac does more damage.

Ugh... you really should proof read if you're going to critique someone's grammar. You know... words like 'alos' may ALSO be very confusing for those whose who have a second primary language. Using a comma tends to help with sentence structure as well...
"setting your playing on the game is awsome" may be confusing for said people, just like the word 'gammer'.
Just saying.

I thought it was cheeky. I wouldn't call it mean/rude.
