the difference in damage depending on your offhand is solely the speed of your offhand. Faster offhand = more dmg. slower offhand = less dmg because SW scales off your total attack speed.

I started DWing at around 88k unbuffed dps. Before that I used a 18% sacred shield with 170 dex, 10% crit, 50 res and 10% hp. The dmg difference was not very noticable until that point.
Currently at 100k unbuffed with 43 crit ~500 critdmg 2.4k dex 800 res 50k hp. No loh or ls.
The key to sucessful DWing is to get a slow, high damage Mainhand (preferably with socket and some dex) and a very fast (dagger > sword/fist) offhand with 250+ dex and 180%+ critdmg.
There are a lot of small mechanics at work that make this by far the most effective weapon combination for any mid-high range budget. Important to know is that dps on your offhand doesnt matter too much. Its better to run with a 650 dps dagger that has 190% critdmg and 300 dex than with a 1200 dps + socket mace. On your mainhand its the other way around.

During the next few days I will take an in-depth look at underused talents and I will try to make them work in synergistic specs for solo and group play on the search for some hidden gems.
The first day is going to be about Backlash and how to build a viable spec around it.

i noticed that your current stats have ZERO life on hit, as well as no lifesteal, as well as no life per spirit spent, and no transcendence passive, what exactly are you using to sustain other than breath of heaven ?

Yeah, I don't use any life on hit since with my attack speed (which is very low) it wouldn't help much unless i get a lot of it. I mainly sustain via health globes. It works pretty well since I kill stuff really fast.
My second option; I usually carry a 1200 LoH weapon (1060 dps, also visible in the gear screen). For really hard packs I simply switch the weapon and I got some sustain at the cost of like 15k dps.
A 21% sacred shield blocks equal damage to a 32% storm shield with HotC and Lantern.
A max block sacred shield always blocks more.
It's not that hard for a sacred shield to be better than storm, but those cost 2-3x the amount of a storm.
Also some monks want a dps oriented shield. Storm offers 0 dps
A 21% sacred shield blocks 88326 damage accross 100 hits vs 104592 from a 32% Stormshield.
Stormshield block 6.43% more, a MAX block sacred shield always blocks more -IF- it has a good +block modifier aswell.
I said with Justice lantern and Helm of the command.
If you use those two items you will find 21% Sacred = 32% Storm
Also Singel res is maxed at 60 and a shield can have more than 150 dex (double stat).

I think he's banned, Had him added to friends list and now I cant whisper him or even see his name. I can profile/achievements him but it doesn't show his name or Battletag just his gear and DPS stats etc.. .... Banned for Botting no wonder how he had all that gear..
Actually, my annual pass got cancelled due to a system error and therefore the D3 license was unattached from my account. It happened to quite a few people. After calling them they told my I should have my annual pass reinstated and the D3 license back attached to my account by tomorrow.
All my gear and gold is 100% legit.
I think if you take Beacon of Ytar and the cooldown reduction of 7sided strike, the game bugs out and actually increases the cooldown.
At least thats what I noticed in the first week... has that been fixed yet?
First decide on a resist to use. Each has his up and downsides (poison for andariels, arcane for seven sins, physical/fire to save a passive on some bosses, etc.)
Most Monks will use One With Everything so there isn't really a choice to be made. It is best to pick one resistance to stack, as it it means it is usually easier and cheaper than going after +res all. Also, you can find a lot of gear with (for eg) +cold res and +res all which all adds up and helps out.
I made the mistake early on of going primarily for +all res and wasted a lot of gold til I realised it's just easier and cheaper to go for + Arcance Res as it is my highest, unbuffed
Pretty sure that's what he was saying, pick the resist you want to stack and stack it, ex. arcane resist for you.
Just seemed weird that he was talking up the + & - points of individual res, seeing as it doesn't matter with OWE.
I was talking about the +/- of the resists you chose.
For example if you chose to stack poison resists you can wear a dex andariels which always has poison resist.
Or if you stack stack arcane resist you can get the seven sin shoulders which always have arcane resist.
And so on. Of course you only chose 1 resist and get as much of it as you can.

DW is fine, but a shield with dex and crit might be even better.
