Burst his ass. After getting one-shotted by him while trying to play defensively, I tried it out, got him to 5% the first try, killed him the second. Just equip a nice twohander, pop WotBInsanity with 3-4 frenzy and Earthquake. Use Unforgiving and Zerker Rage to get it going and even more damage, and use armorleap, stunstomp and ignore pain to stay alive for the duration.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

I do realize that maybe I should do a bit more serious post. I've soloed all the way through Hell being quite undergeared (not ever farming, buying cheap items on AH only, like 20k golders).Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
This is my main build. Pretty simple. Due to undergeared, you can't tank alot, so you'll need to stun. Jump in, whirlwind, stunstomp, whirlwind. Should work fine on trashmobs and lesser mobs. I tried a health-steal build first, with charge and revenge, but I ended up regging 5%+ life each second with invigorate+inspiring presence so it become overkill.
Then there's a few alterations. There's the burst one for rares/elites, where you just switch out Ignore Pain for Earthquake. Stun them up and blast them and get at least one, so you can pass them with a few deaths.
Then there's the ranged one for certain bosses, since the hammerguys in act 4 one-shotted me. Works well on Azmodan too and the SIegebreaker, pretty much everything that's dangerous in melee but a joke at range.
Pretty simple. Stun and Instigate to snatch some rage, as well as the shout and passives to make you able to keep attacking. SHould never lack fury that way.
And then of cource, the burster. Used to kill guys like Rakanosh and Izual without having the necessary gear.
Fury+WotBInsanity+Zerker Rage is huge single-target damage (2h used ofc). Earthquake is additional damage and add-clearer. Unforgiving lets you start with enough rage to pop both, since you often don't have time to build it up, and the jumparmor+stunstomp+ignorepain abilities are to let you survive while you dish out the good stuff.
There. As I said, gear isn't really a necessity even with Barb. Not untill Inferno anyway. Just get to know all the abilities and don't be afraid to die a bunch and you'll do it.

So far I've noticed that the most successful tactic is Earthquake, Wrath of the Berzerker-Insanity and a far 2-hander and just burst down everything. Works on elites, works on bosses (just bursted RAkanoth and Izual hell mode away with a measly 660 dps twohander). Rest of the abilities are armorjump, stunstomp and ignore pain. It's unfortunate, and you'll die a bunch, but otherwise it's all gear checks. Both Rakanoth and Izual were next to impossible without burst tactic, despite 7k armor they wiped me so easy.
Time to try hell diablo, fun fun.

Gotten to hell so far. Two-hands all the way, usually plow through everything, including bosses. But I got neat weapons, always the latest off AH, with 170 dps at 45 a,d 235 at 50. Different story in Hell though... getting ripped pretty hard.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Anyway - Stomp, Charge, WarCry, WotB-Insanity is 1-4, Frenzy/WW in mouse. Battle Master, that shout heal and that 100% vitality to armor thingie.
WotB-Insanity and Frenzy usually plows bosses, if you know when to run and when to fight. Stomp helps an immensely lot too, since bosses doesn't become stun immune to Hell (think they do, killed hell SK right before server shutdown and didn't get any stuns from Frenzy on him.)

First of all, no, they wouldn't. The Archon is still a mystery since we dunno how much damage it gives, but the only other long CD spells are the WDs, and they can't compete with the barbs in pure damage output. CotA is stronger than Fetish Army, if summons are allowed in the calculation. SSS is 30 sec CD and a one-time shot at 1007 damage (and also a spender), and I can't see what other "long time CD" you are referring to that can match WotB-Insanity in a 15 second duration.
But, as I said, this was just a fun example for a specific outcome, as OP didn't state under what conditions this best DPS would be calculated.
Still, drop the WotB insanity then. It's still 185% damage, 75% attackspeed and 18% crit. That's a neat 385% sustainable DPS, Before taking any sort of generation spender into consideration.
And none of these are really serious or relevant build, but they prove my point. By far the deadliest non-resource spender, very potent damage buffs (BR, WoTB) and the highest passive damage increases (Zerker rage, Brawler) makes Barb pretty potent in the damage dealing department.
