    Moderator Application

I will organize this post into sections for the purposes of clarity and neatness.

    Diablo History
Like most people on this website, I share a passion for the Diablo series and all Blizzard games in general. I am a huge supporter of esports and the SC2 professional scene. It has been amazing watching SC2 grow into the realm of becoming a professional sport with sponsorships, fans, teams, big money tournaments, media attention, famous casters, etc. The sky is the limit for esports, and I hope Diablo 3 can follow the path set by SC2 and other games.

I have a passion for Diablo 3. I don't really think I need to say much more because in my opinion every person applying for a moderation position is going to say the same thing. The traits and attributes of the successful cadididates will almost positively be non-diablo related.

    About Me
I am a 23 years old from Toronto, Canada. I have a strong passion for hockey (duh), gaming, and music. I am a devoted fan of the rock band Tool and have seen them live 30 times (and counting...) all over the world. I love to travel, usually to see concerts or festivals.

I attended the University of Toronto but dropped out in my second year to start my own company: Delta Security and Safety Services. www.deltasafety.ca is the website. I am responsible for managing, hiring, accounting, human resources, marketing and the day to day operations of the business. I focus on providing training for people who want to enter the security or law enforcement industries. So far the business is going fantastic! I am the youngest person in Ontario to have been approved to start a Security agency (it's a long licencing and application process).

I am also involved with the local police force in a volunteer role which I really enjoy. I am a certified first aid/CPR instructor for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which I usually teach on a bi-weekly basis. ..yeah, that's pretty much the important stuff I guess.

Oh, and I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. If you follow hockey you would understand why that's a very, very sad thing to state. There is nothing worse than being a devoted, die-hard sports fan when the team you would die for is the Toronto Maple Leafs :(

Why Should I be a Moderator?

    Leadership
This is probably the main reason. I like to innovate and bring new ideas to the table. From my experience with my business/website, I am constantly looking for ways to improve the site via marketing, programs, etc. I would like to take this approach to Diablo Fans. Diablo 3 is only in its infancy, and despite the very large amount of users, there is still tons of ways it can continue to grow and improve over the coming months/years. Ideally with enough experience around here, I would be interested in moving to more of an administrator role.

    Maturity
This is essential for any moderator. You have to be able to solve problems, and stay level-headed even in some very ugly/troll-filled threads. It is simply a fact that there are indeed a lot of idiots in this world. A good moderator needs to make sure they do not corrupt or infest the forums. I would expect to hold everyone (forums members, other staff, etc) to the same level of integrity and professionalism that I would an employee. Of course the forum is meant to be fun and rewarding, so there needs to be a balance. However, proper (and in some cases strict) moderation is absolutely essential for a succesful forum of this size.

    English
This one is obvious, of course! But I do think it needs to mentioned. Regardless of who you choose as a moderator, they absolutely must have a very strong command of written English. This means good spelling, grammar, and general cohesiveness in writing.

    Time Commitment
What's the point in appointing a moderator if they cannot commit to the website? I spend tons of time on the internet. Because of my work/business situation, I'm usually browsing forums even when I'm at work. I would not be applying for this position (and this should apply to everyone else as well) if I was not 100% positively convinced that I would commit the required amount of time to the position.

Why you should not pick me
I think it's important to recognize the weakness of each applicant as well. Nobody is perfect and everyone has negative aspect that should be addressed. For me, no doubt it would be my post count: 1. This is my first post. I have been a lurker on this site for a very long time, but never got around to registering for an account. I regret this now, but of course there is nothing I can about it now. The best I can say is that (obviously) I will be active from this point forward. However, it's totally understandable if I am not chosen due to my lack of history/posting in the past.

Thanks for reading this. Regardless of if I am involved or not, I look forward to seeing this site grow exponentially in the future.

    Cheers,
