Wow, ruksak, I'm quite surprised to hear that, you were quite the staunch defender of this game. I feel the same way, though, even if I occasionally play 15 minutes or half an hour here and there.
Your last sentence cracked me up.

Haha was about to reply him the same thing :D apparently fanboism doesn't last forever :)

This shouldn't be an issue because of the max bid function. If you are willing to pay 5million gold for an item, set that as your max bid.
The problem is people adding the minimum amount necessary to surpass you at the very last second. And usually you have more than enough to outbid them then. I've won many an auction by paying close attention to it at that "<1 min" mark. The typical scenario would be:
    1. I'm winning at 100k bid.
    2. "<1 min" hits and I'm outbid at 101k.
    3. I rapidly outbid them with 110k.
    4. I win the auction.

Last-minute bidders are typically just trying to sneak their way into a lower price by not bidding until no one else is fast enough to outbid them.
So I'm all for a delay timer of, say, some 5 minutes after a bid. Auctions are auctions, the highest bidder should be the one to win, not the sneakiest.

New to this I believe. Also the max bid function allows you to bid w/e amount you want. However, your max bid will never be shown in the auction house for others to see. If an item is at 1 mil bid and you bid 10, others will see a 2m bid. If they don't bid over you (10.1m) then they'll get an instant refund and a "try again" message.

Doesn't matter who is the sneakiest, if you want an item really bad you should learn how to bid.

D2 had ladders, pvp and pandemonium events. How about that for complexity? Compared to D3 ofc. Your turn.

Oh yeah ladders, that was so awesome, every now and then you could re-level all your toons from scratch. Such compelling gameplay. And by the way, even if they put ladders in the game it'd probably be 6 months to a year before there was a ladder reset so it'd hardly make a difference now would it? According to blogs they're trying to think of something better this time around. I hope they do.

Uber Diablo was added like 4 years after release as a cheap way of giving people something (anything!) to do at max level without creating any new game assets. The other "pandemonium events" were added later (I forget when). All non-canon of course because it was just levered into the game at the end of its lifecycle purely for gameplay reasons. About the worst excuse for "content" I can think of.

    And PVP is coming, duh.

And I expect a sequel to have all the features that were included before (at launch, not 1 year later). But that's just me and my high expectations from a triple-A game.

David Brevik hand down. If you have played Diablo 2, you will see how complex the D2 system is, yet everything is balance. We started with 5 different classes and all play with a different style. Every class has it's strength and weakness

You're talking strictly about balance here. I also think each class has it's own style in D3 too.

The problem isn't the game itself, it's that more abilities need to become appealing, 1.0.4 started has started that. D2 had it's share of cookie cutter/OP builds also. Just because a lot of people liked to play off builds doesn't change that.

Also, nothing about D2 was complex, at least no more so than D3.

D2 had ladders, pvp and pandemonium events. How about that for complexity? Compared to D3 ofc. Your turn.

I can't even read past the first paragraph. This guy makes me sick. I was a Blizzard fan and loved all their games, but this guy has changed my view not only on this game, but on the company as a whole. He should be fired asap if Blizzard wants to recover their reputation. Or what's left of it.

There I said it. It had to be said.

Ladder not fun? Please stop telling us what's fun.

Watching a handful of nutters that no-one else even has a chance of competing with racing to the top of a paragon-level ladder is fun for you? I'd have to see a vote before I could believe you weren't in a very small minority.

Unless you're seriously suggesting that they were saying that ladders in general were a bad idea? You're not, are you? Because that would be very embarrassing.

I take it you didn't play D2. Ok you can sit down now.

MF cap at 300 right now? Yeah right, how about you actually get a clue of your own game?

Ladder not fun? Please stop telling us what's fun.

Inferno still dropping ilvl 51 items. Why? Because Jay Wilson says it's fun. Please give me a break.

Me too. Again Jay Wilson tells us what's fun. And that is MF capped and no more MF from gear (once you're lvl 100). I call this bullshit.
