You should let his wings be a bit more outward. Like the model in the d2 game (Pandemonium fortress act 4 and later at the worldstone act 5).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

I'm not going to reply to all things that have been said in this topic, but I'd like to add 1 thing to the equation which will set things in perspective.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
What you are doing is comparing a small set of skills from the wizard, which we call 'Melee Wizard', to the entire set of skills of the barbarian/monk.
Think about it. The reason the barbarian and monk get -30% dmg reduction is to make all their skills viable. They can choose more defensive skill to go a bit tanky or choose more offensive to deal more dmg, while still staying alive. The Melee Wizard only chooses the defensive skills available, which is a tanky wizard with lower dmg (I assume) than a ranged glass cannon.
To sum it up: A ranged class does not have dmg reduction because they don't take (much) melee dmg. A melee class takes melee dmg, so they get -30% reduction to be able to have more build options. The melee wizard chooses from the few 'tanky' skills and will then be able to survive and kill things as well. Though, I will not be surprised if a melee wizard needs some pretty good gear to be viable in hell, not to mention inferno.

It looks like a pretty crap new game to me. The first thing I thought when those trees blocked my view was: "I want to rotate my camera." This made me think that in 2012 it's really amazing that they get away with not having a rotating camera option, especially when playing zoomed in.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

It would be more than awesome if we would get such things as shadows from torches or even from your fireballs and what not. But as stated before, you'll probably gonna need to use multiple high end GFX's to make that run smooth. Because I can only partially immagine what a chainlightning's effects would look like. The game will have to calculate the shadow from each particle of chainlightning and then grade the shadows from strong to feint... etc Gonna be fun to hear my processor and gfx tremble with pain.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

There are numerous ways of increasing the difficulty of the mobs. The comparison with WoW was maybe not that good. As Aldrek said, some hit rating etc will make you hit the +3 lvl mob and it will die fairly easy. In diablo there is no hit/miss (debuffs not taken into account).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I think we should think of a pretty big increase in damage output and health. Also faster movement or higher resistance and cc reduction might be used to make the mobs 'inferno worthy'.
The comparison with D2 going from normal -> nightmare or from nightmare -> hell difficulty is somewhat better. In the last act of the previous difficulty you were getting the latest gear upgrades available (for that difficulty) and pretty much zerging through the content. Then you go to the new difficulty and you realize that the mobs are much stronger and you actually have to cast/hit multiple times before they die. This is because of 2 things, 1: the mobs are much stronger and 2: your gear is 'outdated'. By progressing you get the new difficulties gear (requires higher char lvl) and sooner or later hell will feel easy as well.
Inferno on the other hand will never feel easy (maybe act 1/2), because the char lvl required by the items is 60 and always will be 60. They can't make items which require lvl 61, because we can't become lvl 61 (expansion?). If Blizz is careful with the stats and will not copy wow with that huge stat inflation things should be fine in inferno will not be zerged.

Some people want hc pvp combat to be a fight of life and death, others would like to be able to make a mistake with their hc chars in pvp combat. There are valid reasons for both groups. It seems Blizz decided that hc pvp combat will not kill your character, so essentially it is the same as normal pvp.Posted in: PvP Discussion
I think that Blizz should alter this system a bit, so people playing hardcore chars can actually get the hardcore feel in pvp too. I came up with the following idea to make this possible. Blizz could make an arena tournament every month for example (think of it as the WC3 tournaments they had daily).
Let's say that on the last sunday there will be a hc pvp tournament in which a match making system will create matches for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4. You will have to sign up as a team (alone if you sign for 1v1). On all other days of the month hc pvp will be the same as normal, without your char really dying. This allows for people to practise pvp with their char in their gear, without the punishment. This also allows for people who have balls to sign up for the tournament and have a real fight and be listen on some ranking.

I'll just cherish my memories of D2. All the good and bad things made the game very memorable to me. Anoying beetles in maggot lair or MSLE bugged creatures who would 1 shot you, they are just legendary.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
The only really bad design was the stamina, it just slowed you down a lot in act 1. Once past act 1 you would be ok. I remember just giving some boots with stamina to my lower lvl chars to not have trouble.

Timing is good and bad. For short term it's nice. Thursday 17th is a holiday here and 18th is usually free as well. So that gives me around 4 days of play time. Unfortunately after these 4 days I have to study my ass off because 29/30/31/1 may/june I have exams... so gonna be 2 week break from D3 then.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

The best part about this is that there are more things you can do to get items. We all know that in D2 the only solution to get items was to run Baal, Pindleskin or similar super unique monsters (mostly done by bots). Now we can actually just run around some area, kill the named guys there, get a buff and chance for loot, with that buff you have the option to go for the final boss, but it's not the main goal.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Hello everyone,Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
This is my chaotic mage build. I always like proc chances a lot. Just 1 is boring and often unreliable, but if you have multiple abilities that can proc the chances are high that you won't be waiting 1 minute for a proc.
This is the link http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#eVYWTm!VYT!ZcaccY.
First of all, the passives:
- Paralysis because Electrocute will be cast a lot and critical strikes have a chance for Storm Armor to trigger Shocking Aspect further increasing the chance of a stun.
- Glass Cannon for the damage boost. Frost Nova and Wave of Forse will keep the enemies at bay, so the armor reduction should not be a problem.
- Arcane Dynamo because we will cast Electrocute a lot and after that we can release a pumped up Arcane Torrent.
2nd of all, the general build:
The idea is that you get some critical strike rating and electrocute will hit 2 (possibly more later on) enemies and a critical strike will release some charged bolts. The shocking aspect of Storm Armor will also trigger, further increasing the damage.
Kill made by arcane torrent will trigger more missiles to fly around speeding up the killing.
Frost Nova and Wave of Force are there to stay away from enemies. Both of them have the chainreaction rune. Killing targets while being frozen should not be a problem and because we will hit multiple targets a lot of procs will trigger. The Wave of Force will also trigger multiple smaller waves, adding to the chaos.
Last is Storm Armor, because of the critical strike procs and Archon just because it must be awesome to use that every 2 minutes.
What I would like to see is all kinds of procs to trigger regularly and so creating a lot of chaos on the battlefield. While leveling I will build towards this and then check if Frost Nova and Wave of Force is a bit too much. 1 can be changed for something else like Teleport or Timewarp.
