Dire bats is good if you can group everyone up, but sometimes I throw one out and it hits only one or two. Personally, I play what I enjoy at the time. I change it all the time, experimenting with different builds and finding what is comfortable to me (some builds are too hectic for me). I love the wall of pets, and the psychofant*sp (3% fetish one) with darts/firebomb and rain of toads is a lot of fun. I love watching the toads splash around and it's totally viable in Nightmare so far. I don't use SH or pierce the veil (I've tried it, but the toads actually make me run out of mana fast).
Point? Dire Bats is good and op for some people, but I prefer my own playstyle. And yes, I kill around as fast and without any trouble.
I'm assuming the 5 seconds isn't a countdown to chicken explosion. I'm thinking that you have up to 5 seconds before you auto-explode (or change back...but auto-exploding makes more sense). Otherwise, you could turn into the chicken and in the 2 seconds it takes to run into the mob of baddies you press "explode."

This is not a time to min/max, but a time to push two buttons and spam the screen with toads/spiders. To back my drunken play I'll bring friends with dogs, bigguy, and fetishes. I probably won't remember to push fetish cooldown button, but when I do....To make sure I ALWAYS have a button to press and not have to worry about mana management, my frogs have the rune that makes them cost 0 mana.
If your a WD and plan on ever playing drunk...this may be your build.
