Just finished Diablo and I was surprised at how much easier Act 3/4 were today than yesterday. I'm really wanting to drop the shield and go 2h or dw and have some real fun. You guys know of any great dps builds? I'm thinking I want to dual wield since my main hand has 800 LoH, IAS, and a socket. I could get IAS on the off hand to help make up the nerf. What do you guys think? Maybe I could drop some RA too.
It is WAY easier today. I was doing...ok... in Act 3 yesterday on my Monk. My barb friend and I just finished Act 3/4 and only died a handful of times. 1-shot every boss on the way. We have decent gear though. 800 resists, 40k hp, etc. However, we are melee so I can't speak for what kind of gear you need for Wizard. It is definitely a big nerf though.
That's just a very strange - and flawed - perception. They're nerfing IAS, not buffing eveything else. I do realize that the two are pretty much the same thing, but comparatively buffing other items would mean you had no resulting DPS loss.
The end effect in itemization is the same, yes, but there's a distinct difference
But they really aren't nerfing IAS. They're just limiting the amount you can get. 1% IAS is still worth 1%. I feel as though on my Monk is will be even more mandatory now than it was before the nerf. We shall see though.
I don't know man, I'm trying to start Act 3 myself and I am struggling with better stats than you. I am no Monk master, but maybe we can help each other out. I'm currently at:
37k hp
15.5k dps
780 RA
35% block
7769 armor
My DPS jumps to 17.7 with blazing wrath (usually up) and I can clear all white mobs no problem, rares however, still pretty much wreck me. Your life on hit seems a bit low (I'm around 1200 - maybe yours is enough?) and your APS seems a bit low. Honestly, I would wait to see if the patch hits Tuesday before dumping millions on upgrades for 2 reasons: gear check and attack speed nerf.
They stated the start of the acts should be a little easier transition to from the previous act. If you can 5-stack Kulle/Belial easily then you should be able to begin Act 3 in that gear come patch day. Otherwise, I'm thinking you want an extra 100 RA and maybe a touch more hp? That dps would do ok I think. Maybe someone who farms Act 3 can help.
Diamond skin has no cooldown plain and simple. There is no 'kiting things forever' you just cast wave of force when a mob reaches melee and repeat every single time that happens while running in a circle around the ranged mobs/mortar affix guys. Neither Wave nor Diamond is ever on cooldown. I have 25% crit, 1.9 aps, 17k listed damage and about 24k life. I steamroll everything except jailor/mortar. You can't even be killed when trapped with waller because you just alternate diamond skin and wave of force so you don't AP starve yourself with Wave spam. Living lightning also keeps you at a near perma 5 stack of Dynamo giving you +75% damage on Hydra and Wave basically every cast.
Swap out Wave of Force for Explosive Blast: Chain Reaction for a build that facetanks Hell Diablo and kills him in under 2 minutes. For group play swap your Rclick over to Archon and drop Dynamo for Glass Cannon. Trust me Archon has basically no CD either. Cast lightning a few times and watch your Archon button light up. I wish I could find better gear with less Vitality for better FA cheese because than I would literally be invulnerable. I assure you this build has 0 cd times because of the way Living Lightning and Venom Weapon deal dmg. All those lightning hits and the DoT left by Venom Weapon(on every mob your lit hits) count as crits for your Critical Mass.
To answer some of the questions about "How do you survive DoT's and fire?" with the 0 Vitality build. Well Inferno mode DoT's will tick for more than 35% of your life in a 0 Vitality build and tick at the same speed if not slower than life regen. You don't actually take any damage from DoT's cause every single tick is reduced to the 35% max.
Happy hunting.
I just started Inferno and I gave this a shot. So far it seems pretty nice! I'm still dropping all my vitality and my dps is only about 11k, so hopefully I can survive until I get some gear.
My friend and I just did a quest for Act 1 nightmare around the graveyard where you select one of the 4 tombs (Shattered Crown?). It was an entire tomb filled with mobs that had developer's names and a champion called Jay Wilson. We got a feat of strength for killing it too!
You get to keep your current characters. There also was a blue post from a few weeks ago and they said you could call blizzard up and get a new key for that regular digital copy in most cases. He highly emphasized most cases too.
The only thing bad about the Beta, for me any way, in terms of Lag, is the Hit lag. You can't dodge mele swings, they seem to always hit.
Hoping that goes away come release. There was a Jay Wilson Tweet not long ago that allueded to the fact that stuff like that would not be there in release (along with stuttering to load stuff the first time).
I thought I read somewhere that mobs have a 95% chance to land melee hits? I could have totally read it wrong though.
I was just on walmart website and saw this, where they have the release date for 9-4-2012.
I'm sure it's just a filler. I highly doubt they would scrap arena for release already if they weren't releasing for another 6 months...but who knows?!
Oh, so it was better back when they never died? Not even one dog died during the whole SK encounter? Yeah that sounds about right.
Why is it everyone on this site just jumps to extremes and never notices the gray area in between. As if there isnt' a huge area between 1 shotted and never dying. However, this is the fking 1st third of normal, so yah they should never fking die, because this is a joke. The mobs are hitting for diddly shit, yet these dogs can't stay alive now?!? WTF do you think will happen in higher difficulties?
They should obviously be able to stay alive long enough for the cooldown to refresh in inferno. If they can't even take 1 hit in 1st part of normal, then wtf good are they going to be in higher difficulties?
I'm sure they scale somehow, maybe off your hp?. Obviously if they are being 1-shot now then they wouldn't hold up well even in the rest of Act 1, let alone any other difficulty. Surely Blizzard has thought of this and there is more to the spell than what you're experiencing.
