    posted a message on What will reviewers do?
    From the linked article at Gamefront, I came across this. "But most alarming of all, Blizzard has broken its most sacred of mantras: “When it’s ready,” and is releasing an incomplete product." There were other offenders, but that I thought was the most offensive...

    Really, it's not even released yet, and this "journalist" is already claiming it isn't ready yet. What a hackneyed article.

    Also, Blizzard has already stated that there is absolutely no reason to leave a skill unruned. Therefore, you really should only count 5 variations per skill, not 6.

    Actually, I thought they said something to the affect that you could* leave it unruned. To be honest, the current rune system has never supported that, as there is always a benefit to runing rather than not. But I could have sworn...

    *could, as in the option was viable, not just the obvious meaning.

    I really hope blizzard makes a scan after a while. may a weekly scan even. to see how many builds are active and see how many duplicates there are =)

    Brilliant idea! That would be very interesting to see. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a list of the number of different builds that have beaten inferno difficulty. Would be cool to see which class has the most diverse builds that can clear it. And of course just the number of different builds at 60 would be cool.

    Lets say the number of builds that have at least 3 different skills / passives / runes. As 1 thing differing can hardly be seen as variety.

    Quote from ThumTrick

    Is everyone using the default key bindings or have you found some that work better? I personally like keeping my fingers on the home row when possible so I mapped my keys as follows:

    Actions Bar -> A, S, D, F (instead of 1, 2, 3, 4)
    Stand Still -> Spacebar (instead of shift - this is amazing)
    Move-> Q
    Inventory -> W
    Map -> E
    Potion -> R

    I almost never pick my left hand up and it's very comfortable. If I had to suggest just one thing here it is moving "stand still" to spacebar. It makes all the difference in the world.

    I too have been using the home row for the Action Bar and the same key for the forced Stand Still.

    I do really like the map, potion, and move button. I'll be using those now, too.

    I started using the home row when i realized how little I liked having relocate my hand to chat. And I just felt awkward trying to hit the shift key while using 1 through 4. So using the space key just felt natural. That was the first thing I changed.

    posted a message on I Miss When Videogames Were Just For "Nerds"
    About 12 years ago, I played an online game called Continuum. 2D team-based, space shooter, if anyone is familiar with it...

    Anyway, I know what the OP is talking about. I remember being incredibly annoyed when all of a sudden, the phrase "newb" starting to become a common occurrence. No longer meaning a new player, but a derogatory remark on someone's skill. I truly wouldn't be surprised if their are people using that insult who didn't know that. Of course, now it is spelled differently.

    I think it's less the fact that more 'jerks' started to play, and more the fact that it became too easy to insult others. We entered the Era of generalizations and quick and easy insults. You didn't need to be clever or type a paragraph to insult someone. You just had to utter a word.

    I think that trend has continued. Generic insults with little to no meaning are thrown around so often that people have given up even attempting to be polite.

    While games have become more accessible; so have methods of insulting others.

    I very much doubt The release date will get delayed. How smooth the release will be could be debated, but I find it unlikely they would change the date this close to it.

    And because of that reason, they are scaling down all numbers in WoW (which is a good idea, I think).

    Always fun when somebody makes a statement that's just 100% false. Blizzard actually confirmed quite a while ago that they will NOT be doing an "item squish" for MoP.

    That is correct. However unfortunate, in my opinion. But I can understand why they wouldn't want to. They would have to rework EVERYTHING (caps lock is needed for emphasis). They would need to rework all old quests and items. All old dungeons and raids. Unless they want them completely unplayable.

    And worse, 80% (random statistic) of their player base would threaten to quit because it "ruined the game."
    (Or perhaps just 100 very vocal people making 40 threads each)

    Enough of that, sorry.

    Point is, I think blizzard understand they made a mistake having such huge gaps in gear to act as a reset in the beginning of each expansion. I don't think they will be doing anything quite as drastic in D3.

    The demon hunter in beta has very lack luster aoe. With the nerf to Multishot, I'm a bit worried that will continue to be true even as you lvl up past the current cap.

    40 is just too much.

    Almost triple the hatred cost for an additive 50% additional dmg. That isn't really equal by any means...

    The problem with the DH in beta is that it has no aoe skills. The closest to aoe you get is a runed Entangling shot. Spaming that has given me very good results.
