if armor reduces all damage, what's the incentive to have resistances?

posted a message on Afraid of one-hit K.O.
I was searching some diablo 3 gameplays and I notice the same monster that appears at "What is Diablo 3" video (last seconds of it) appears in this old playthrough
Apparently it seems that he's going to finish off the barbarian, and seeing this video I posted, I realized that he simply does the same thing with a WD and a Barbarian.

I think interesting to have monsters that give some dynamism to fight, even 1-hit k.o.
but noting the video I posted, there's no sign that he will kill you instantly, a warning, nothing, he's simply kill you anytime he wants.

For the hardcore players that should be a headache, and the video "What is Diablo 3" the same monster looks like an elite than boss (considering the size).

Edit: put the video at 5:07

With what your trying to achieve i'd probably do something like this

    http://us.battle.net...kURP!beU!cZcZZY

i don't really see a reason for having HotA. Switch that to more dmg reduction. Staying below 20% and not dying will be difficult enough so stack the dmg reduction. Also, i'd use run like the wind with my sprint. Sprint to put down the tornados then spam seismic slam to do damage and knockback groups. Then when at high fury use weapon throw for dreadbomb =D.

honestly, i don't really know if this build would work and you would die alot but i'm sure it'd be alot of fun to play. definitely wouldn't work in inferno lol. i'd probably also recommend stacking vit.
Fully agree with you. War cry with resistance is far better than HotA, haven't figured out this.

Yeah it's mostly fun/crazy build. I know 20% is way too low, but you have 50% damage reduction + gear/passives that reduces damage and assuming you're going to be ranged not melee, or at least try that. Also you move 50% faster all times.

Be at 20% all times or a miss click on a health globe can be annoying as hell, but can be interesting to try it out.

so, this build only works if you have 20% or less health? I don't get it.. what do you do when you're at full health?
That's the idea, you have to put barb with at least 20% health, get no health globes and overcome the situation with this abilities.

    Quote from Sabvre

I don't really see the point of relentless.... most of your high fury skills are on a cooldown and can't be spammed anyways....
While at 20%, you can Spam Weapon Throw, Seismic Slam, Sprint and HotA at all times, no penalty, no CD.

    Build here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#ZfeURP!beU!ZZZbZY

This build focus on relentless passive. With the relentless build, barbarian becomes mainly ranged and has no fury cost for his abilities, I'll show you how to use them.

    Passives:

Relentless: 50% damage reduction + no fury consumption.
Superstition: 20% magical damage reduction. This will mitigate more damage, especially ranged.
Nerves of Steel: The more defense the better. We all know that this build is very risk, the more damage reduction the better.

    Skills:

HotA (Smash): Any close target will receive a massive spammable damage.

Weapon Throw (Ricochet): Main ability. You normally be ranged, assuming this is going to be spammable, kite is gonna be easy + Ricochet rune will spread damage and snare effect.

Seismic Slam (Shattered Ground): Heavy aoe damage, good to knockback enemies and start to kite again with Weapon Throw.

Sprint (Marathon): Should be always active, you can kite easily with this and Weapon Throw.

Ignore Pain (Iron Hide): When the situation go out of control, you can pop this and you receive 100% damage reduction for 7s (Ignore Pain + Relentless?).

Wrath of the Berserker (Striding Giant): I put a dodge rune here focusing survival with is something you have to always be aware of.

    Notes:

    - Gear is going to be survival one, also try to avoid hp regen, because you have to be 20% or less everytime.
    - Probably don't viable in Inferno.
    - I think it is a fun build, you know spamming stuff all the time. Also an unusual one, because you're mainly ranged and have do dodge stuff.
    - Ranged monsters are going to be annoying for sure, also sprint all the time can handle this.

Come with your suggestions and what you think about it, ty all.

posted a message on What does Demon Hunter bring to a group??
Mainly to be the full damage dealer of the group, also some points he can provides for the group:

-> Marked for death - damage debuff or heal (see death tool rune)

-> Sentry - Survival: damage reduction or heal over time.

-> Many many snares to that times the fight gets really hard.

-> For damage, he has insane aoe with multiple abilities.

-> For CC, he has some abilities that give a plenty of stuns, even fear.

posted a message on my ice wizz
    Some adjustments http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#ZlYQfR!XWf!bZcbaY

Magic missiles: don't benefit from cold blood, so here I switch to ray of frost spammable, it has no cost with the rune and benefit from cold blooded.

Comet: You have blizzard, so comet and blizzard together i think it would take much arcane energy, so here I switch to frost hydra to grant a damage over time while you're dpsing/running.

Teleport: Fit your personal preference, I have Reversal rune.

Frost Nova. With chilling aura, enemies are slowed most of the time + spammable ray of frost. So my pick here is tu put a rune to finish off frozen targets (Bone Chill).

Ice Armor and Blizzard: Ice Armor really needs to have chilling aura for more kites, and in this build, I focused on devastating damage on frozen targets, so my choice for blizzard is Frozen Solid Rune. Blizzard + Ray of Frost will handle the mob control + Chilling Aura.

    Passives:

    Same has you
AP: more blizzards while hydras are out.
    GW: more survival
    CB: core frost passive

    Hope I helped.

posted a message on A pvp debate
    Some points:

NektelMP: Major thing that hurts replayability from what I saw in beta was the lack of overworld randomization :\
Friend: but none of those games did any good
Friend: well thats ANOTHER thing i dont like
    Friend: the game is linear
NektelMP: Well its garunteed to do good, its already presold millions, just depends on wether it can keep people

Wrong, perspective view of a whole.

In the beta, Jay Wilson said that stage randomization is nearly 2-3 variations with less modification, because they want the first act to be straight. But later there are dozens of randomization in all maps (Check force videos on youtube).

@lack of creativity and endgame boring:

Nephalem Valor is something that gives dinamic to diablo 3. Forces you to go out world, search champion packs (so more challenge), more loots, run around the clock to get a buff benefit, etc.

If I bite what you're friend is saying, it's seems that inferno progression is a joke and no hard at all, and I mean, really? It's going to take time to actually progress. It's not that simple. You need to farm the hell out the game; sell stuff; buy stuff; craft stuff; feew.... too many things to do in other to progress, also we have achivements, pvp and stuff. So you're really have things to do with this game, and yes you're going to use your gear for something (^^^^^^^^^^^^^).

    @pvp

Jay Wilson stated that Diablo 3 is going to be wanted for it's pve, and want pve to be SUPERIOR.
PVP in this game is something to have fun and not an ESPORT feature in the game. If your friend played D2 for pvp (which is viable) and don't care about pve because it's boring, so this game (D3) is not for him. Simple as that: If you want to take pvp seriosly D3 is not your game.

I respect your friend's decision, but bash the game because pvp will not be competitive as D2, is a matter of opinion, not a fact. Deal with it. Also the fanboy argument is so stupid. I'm going to play the game because I have fun obliterating packs and packs of demons with my friends, beats me if pvp is gonna be on background.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#adjRQT!dhS!acZcaZ

Bash with rage increase rune: The primary ability of barbarian, for single strikes regenerates a moderate amount of rage, so no problem with that. Also punch around is so much fun.

Leap Attack with armor increase rune: This our escape ability, the armor bonus is a guaranteed getta away for dangerous situations. Also a good move to save someone in trouble and you have to tank a little.

Call of the Ancients with increased duration rune: if 3 ancients barbarians that use awesome moves are great, fantastic is the amount of time you can spend with them, great bodyguards.

Revenge with increased chance o proc rune: Barbarians have to be in melee almost every time, a 30% uptime revenge proc put their survival in great state.

Whirlwind with cyclones rune skill: Why bother with other abilities to Aoe if we got this? A guaranteed clean service, also, I think Whirlwind it is one of the most awesome abilities a barbarian can have, a must!

Seismic Slam with damage runed: Mob after mob and you want to take a break? or you just want to open a safe way for your friends? Seismic slam will do it with a single blow.

Bloodthrist with whirlwind is total bloodbath, hey the more blood the better right?

Unforgiving, this with runed bash... rage issue solved

Boon of bul-kathos, I really love to have awesome bodyguards for 20s, now I can hire them every 90s? yes please!

    Thank you, Good Luck everyone.
