posted a message on Getting a Group for Ubers - Want a Hellfire Ring
Thanks for the great replies. I can kill elites on MP5 and honestly haven't tried beyond that. I could probably do ok on MP6 if I was careful. I haven't tried doing any ubers yet - solo or otherwise. I think I will just check general chat and see if I can find some capable people who have already done MP6/7 or higher that want to come along using my machines and hope I just get lucky on getting the drops.

posted a message on Getting a Group for Ubers - Want a Hellfire Ring
    Hi all,

I'm looking for a little advice from those a bit more experienced than I in the area of farming parts for a Hellfire Ring. I have only played solo in D3 but would like to get a Hellfire Ring - mostly just to say that I did it - not because the ring is the end-all-be-all ring.

I have solo farmed enough to where I now have 3 infernal machines and would like to use them in a manner where it's darn near a sure thing that I get all the drops necessary to make the ring. I know that means using all 3 machines in the same game session and also doing it on the highest monster power possible.

My question is; are there competent groups routinely getting together to do uber runs on MP10 (or close to it) that generally are a sure bet at being able to take down those bosses? I guess I'm just cautious in not wanting to get some random group together to go do this and we choose MP 9 or 10 and then get in there and fall flat on our faces and I get nothing to show for it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This. Problem is that mainstream players are 10-15 year olds.. Generation that wants all and they want it NOW..

No offense but you don't have any idea what you are talking about. You say this because it's a popular sentiment and convenient outlet for blame. You should admit that you don't have any facts relative to the actual demographics of this game and even moreso what those players "want".

posted a message on Boosting Sweeping Winds Damage
Thanks for the replies... and the video was just what I needed to know. I'm not a fan of having to pull up the character sheet during combatbut right now I only have two very similar weapon damage weapons so for me, right now, it does not matter which weapon is active. Eventually when I get better weapons nd they are vastly different in damage then I might have to look into creating some sort of macro for this. Thanks again for the informative replies.

posted a message on Boosting Sweeping Winds Damage
I would like to appeal to the greater monk community for some info on what skills/runes boost the damage of Sweeping Winds and also the cyclones it spawns when Cyclone is runed.

Which of these will temporary damage boosts affect the damage of Sweeping Winds and its cyclones:

    1. Faith in the Light - For 3 seconds after using Blinding Flash, all of your attacks are empowered to deal 30% additional weapon damage as Holy.

    2. Blazing Wrath - Breath of Heaven increases the damage of your attacks by 15% for 45 seconds.

    3. Overawe - Increases the strength of Mantra of Conviction so that enemies take 24% additional damage and 48% for the first 3 seconds.

So I want to maximize the damage that Sweeping Winds does along with the cyclones that it spawns for the duration that the effect is up. For each of the 3 options above, which ones increase SW damage, which ones increase the cyclone damage or which ones increase both if SW is cast during the 3 (or 45 second in the case of Blazing Wrath) timeframes.

Are there other viable options I am not thinking of? Also if I pop options 1 and 2 followed by SW within 3 seconds will SW and it's cyclones all do 45% increased damage for the duration SW is up? I would really like to understand exactly how this works and what impacts its damage. Thanks in advance.

Glad we have this site. So tired of the cesspool of PC/WTB/WTS posts all over the official forums. At least you can come here for intelligent discussion.

There were certainly some things that could use improvements, but nothing they changed needed to be changed.

Really?!? So champion packs with the most ridiculous combination of affixes that only one-tenth of one percent of the player base had the gear to contend with did not need to be changed? You seriously think having it this way is smart game design. Wow, stunning!

posted a message on Possible New Magic Find System - "Levels of Excellence"
As long as they don't obsolete or trivialize the MF on existing gear. I just completed a complete re-gearing of my monk today to the tune of 30M gold and every piece that could have MF has it. If that affix becomes suddenly useless I'm gonna have a cow LOL. Not that my gear still won't be good but I could only imagine what better combat stats I could have had without paying the MF premium on each piece. Having said that, I'm excited to see what they have in mind for us.

posted a message on Life % Versus Vitality
Thanks for the replies everyone. Just got my Monk to 60 and spent last night AH-ing in an effort to completely upgrade all her gear. My Monk was the first class I played at launch but sadly was my 3rd to get to 60. I have a renewed enthusiasm for the class. I'm just hopeful that after I sink about 20M in upgrades that I still feel the same way. Picked up two new pieces so far - both with Vitality (among other things) - and one with 8% Life on it as well. Will try to get one or two more as I fill other slots.

On a related side note... does the +Damage% I see on weapons work the same way. Is this value applied to both weapon's hits in a dual wield situation? I'm guessing it's also reflected in the DPS number of the weapon the affix is on but does it apply to anything else? I guess I'd like to understand the differentiation between this affix and when you just see the +225-500 Damage affix. Thanks.

posted a message on Life % Versus Vitality
I've seen it mentioned in several posts of late about how good the Life % affix is. I'm trying to reconcile in my head between the value of this and plain old Vitality. I had swapped between items a few weeks ago where one had +7% Life and the other had ~50 more Vitality. The item with an additional 50 Vitality produced a fair amount more hitpoints than the 7% Life piece did.

Can someone please help me to understand the mechanics involved with +Life%? Is there a certain point in your health pool where +Life% becomes more valuable than +Vitality? Do you need to balance adding Vitality and Life% in order to get the best outcome? I'm guessing that +Life% is adding that percentage of life that is based on the health pool that your Vitality is giving you, correct? So If you had very little Vitality then the +Life% would be giving you a smaller benefit than if you had a larger health pool.

Any insight or clarification is appreciated.

posted a message on Recipe and Set Item Drops
So here's another question about set items... If set items only drop in Inferno and yet there are set items in all level ranges (i.e. equippable at level 30 or so) then doesn't it seem stupid that you can only get these items (without buying them) after they are of any value to you (except for passing to another character of yours). Perhaps I am wrong about there being lower level sets but I am pretty sure I read there were in the D3 paperback guide book I have. Any insight?
