You should add a comment here, after you've hit that 2-week streak of getting nothing but sub 100k gold rares and feeling like you're getting nowhere in a hurry.
I've had a two week streak of nothing but sub 100k gold rares, and I'm still having fun.
I think it's likely from a game design standpoint that the next class added is going to be strength based. Currently we only have the barb using strength items, and it would be very imbalanced to add a third class using one of the other stats without balancing out strength first. I could see this condemned as a strength class, however, personally I still like the idea of a hoplite type class that uses shields offensively.
I think you can also find the corpse of the exploding cow from d2's Tristram in the beta hahah.
Also, who cares if d3's Tristram isn't a 100% carbon copy. Seriously, this isn't Diablo 1.5... or 2.5 for that matter...
Absolutely. The new Tristram looks great and close enough that it's clear what it is. Arguing about how different it is would be pointless. I would have been disappointed with a 100% exact copy. Part of the fun in a sequel is seeing what's changed.
And I shouldn't do this, but I'm going to anyway. Rayken, you're the only one in here that thinks you aren't complaining. I don't need hundreds of posts to see that.
Since you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll be more clear.
The size, shape, scale, and distance between buildings is entirely off. The walking distance and shape of the buildings is a vague representation at best of the buildings from Diablo 1.
The well is gigantic and off place, it's not centered and the buildings are not positioned properly or aligned around it. The prison cage from Diablo 2 is not in the same location and is oddly placed as well.
The Cathedral is not the proper distance, angle, or size. It's not relative to the location from Tristram in Diablo 1 at all. Adrias hut is about the only thing that could vaguely be said to be in the right position or angle from the town.
As for the town itself, it has additional buildings that were not present in the original Diablo 1, while also missing some buildings that were present in the main town/settlement area. It has additional water wells and The Tavern of the Rising Sun also seems to have been given a basement/cellar that was not there before in Diablo 1 or Diablo 2.
There are several other issues with Tristram as it is represented in Diablo 3, and the Cathedral in particular.
Its a bit pre-emptive... but I see it being a shield based class. There isn't really a class centered around a shield, barbs being the most applying but they lack skills to really utilize them. Barbs will mostly duel wield or use huge 2-handers, demon hunters double crossbow, wizard and witch d have their own offhands, and monks will likely use fists or whatever gives them the most damage.
I like this and agree completely, a shield based class would be awesome. Something like a hoplite maybe.
I doubt blizzard will do a shapeshifting class given all the complaints druids in WoW make about not seeing their hard earned gear. Unless they've come up with some sort of solution to that that doesn't involve creating gear models for every single form.
I think the next class if there is one will be a melee class since right now there are 3 ranged classes and only two melee. Personally I think it will be something like an enhancement shaman. Someone that uses the elements, but does so while up in your face while beating on you with sharp pointy things.
