My favourite weapon look for my barb was dual wielding Sickles, too bad they didn't survive the leveling process and are nowhere to be seen @ lvl 60 and beyond...

I hate to break it to some of you, but if inferno only dropped 60+ items, everything would be worthless. Even if most of the stuff was still crap, you'd have so many more chances at good loot that loot would be devalued. Furthermore, we'd all quit the game because we'd all have amazing loot and nobody to sell it to.

Right.. 'cause we aren't playing Diablo, we're playing an elaborate gambling machine. That's the concern, isn't it? To protect the economy.

No thanks, not fun, not what I bought the game for. If in six months from now everyone who bothers playing has the best gear in the game (without farming 5 hours a day), and new players can buy it cheaply, it's just the way it's always been, especially in D2.

Who cares about your precious economy? The loot diversity should be so that every once and a while you'd come across a slight upgrade which polishes up already great stats, not a frantic search for pain relief. It sucks, and if you don't see it you're either already geared up (thank's to the brilliance of the launch issues, or blind luck in drops you sold), or you purposefully like this thing.

It's been 20 days now since I dropped something I could use, all I can do is figure out if something can be useful to another class, and try to sell it to pay for what I know I need. I'm sorry, this game doesn't deserve to be called Diablo 3.

Diablo 2 loot isn't anything like this crap, you could easily feel powerful and capable in blue gear, from there it was one hell of a journey to reach godlike status, but it sure didn't make you feel inadequate or unprepared while doing it. D3 lets you crawl in its shit, and slaps your hand if you try and reach for help.

if they make this many changes a month before release, that's got to mean something, right?

Yes, it means they will keep changing shit for the sake of it, every other month, like in wow. They just can't let something rest. I wonder if I'll ever get to polish my character before they throw an expansion in my face that makes min-maxing gear pointless.

Don't expect a game thats flat rate to get the same type of attention and constant changes that a pay-to-play subscription based game gets. They've explicitly stated they are going to be very hands off with changes once they are comfortable with the balance.

I so much hope so, my fear remains though, regarding gear obsolescence via frequent (18 months) expansion packs might change the face of the game forever. That is, unless expansions don't add new levels, but I think I read from a blue post that they indeed will.

    WoW.... Very disappointing.

What was wrong with casuals hitting a brick wall in Inferno? Can we even call them Casual players anymore once they've gotten to the point of playing inferno?

Why the decrease in difficulty to hand old people at teh start. Inferno was supposed to be farm where you want and it's all the same difficulty.

    Sigh.

Monster tactics/properties alone will create some areas of the game that are just easier than others. No matter what measures Blizzard takes, people will find the path of least resistance to farming drops.

Exactly, the simplicity of the AI in the earlier acts, versus the complex behavior later on, should have been a natural difficulty increase in itself. What I think happened here is that they realized that they couldn't make Act 1 drop the same loot as Act 4, simply because making Act 1 dumb-zombies as hard as Act 4 stuff was too difficult to balance, or probably didn't make any sense once they tried.

I don't think they changed ANYTHING at all in the difficulty as it was till now. Inferno will be exactly as we were supposed to perceive it. What they really did is probably just adjust the drops so that Act 4 is more rewarding than Act 1, period.
