    And good riddance. Listen, I enjoy the item hunt as much as the next guy. But stop pretending that this was because we were hunting for uniqueness. Thus, tons of people had it. Runes were a way to customize our characters. And they still really are. I don't want that system tied to items, particularly when the item is hard to find.

    We will still be item hunting for optimization. We will still be item hunting for the top end use of our build. But at least our playstyle (which runes are directly tied into) will not be tied into waiting on that item, particularly one that will be rarer than all the other items out there.

    totally well put. I wanna hunt items of value, not look on the ground and have crap left right and centre.

    Wouldn't that make it 100% bonus damage on crit? And therefore for a golden rune (as long as patch 13 doesn't change it) with rain of vengeance give a ranged attack at an almost guaranteed 1200% weapon damage (before extra modifiers on top) at range on up to 9 targets and stunning them? That sounds way too good to be true, an insane opener for a difficult pack and all you have to do is be patient. Can someone check if the math is right and if it might work this way?

    where dfo you get 1200 from?

    you get 600% from rain of vengeance
    100% from critical hit
    where does the rest come from
    and ill probably use 2 hand crossbows :)

    i honestly cant even imagine how they thought it was going to work in the first place. What's happening now is much better, and what should have been easily the first option. They should just double the amount of options for each skill selection. Think of it, there are so many affixes you could attatch to really specialize in a certain field. You could have a endless combination of really unique online players. I never understood why they never just develop more skills and devoted more time to that.
    And I'm all about color coding that's the only thing ill miss about the old runestones, I guess.
    But seriously... 4200 runes what a joke lolz! obv pot heads

    So happy for this! There would have been countless of useless runestones that nobody would use just like in early diablo 2 with so many lower level runestones. They are opting to have a much more cleaner environment, and this makes perfect sense. It would be super annoying to have to wait to get the rune you want to socket your skill. Then to have to upgrade it.... that would suck!

    I love that runes are no longer items! I thought I was the only one that was like ''theres gonna be sooooo many annoying runes just like the early runes in d2" 1/2 which were never even picked up. I think their whole new system is a much better way to solely focus on character customization. I feel they should add more runes, perhaps a purple one and a green one!!

    Agreed! I wanna play just the same. And yeah-- I mean it gets better the longer you play your arsenal grows, but its not up to you lol. its up to what drops.
