posted a message on Want a group? I have an idea..
I'm looking for a group of like-minded individuals. It'd be nice if the other two+ people wanted to play Hardcore as well.

I am a hardcore gamer. I like to play a lot, but I also work out, have a girlfriend and am enrolled in a doctoral program. This means that I would like someone else to also be able to take over the group on a night that I cannot play due to the above scheduling conflicts.

Here's what I am looking for:
Someone who doesn't mind sharing RealID info

At first, does not mind an e-mail to ask if they'll be around to play. I have a smartphone so I get my e-mail from there. Text messages at first seem way too sketchy/potentially dangerous, but is up in the air for the future.

Someone willing to play long hours, but with some breaks. I do not run a slave drive here. There will be adequate time for food, washroom breaks, those kinds of important things. On this note, no one will skip ahead while you're busy in the washroom.

People looking to kill as much of inferno as soon as possible. On hardcore, this amounts to players being able to be cautious without freaking out or thinking it's boring.

No kids. No one under, at least, 18 years old. I realize when I was 12-18 I wasn't your average kid, but I am not the norm in any circumstance, I apologize for the discrimination, but I am looking to improve the amount and quality of people that are interested.

People with headsets and know how to use them. I have VoIP programs like Ventrilo and Mumble. I also have a mumble server for such an occasion. Please have some familiarity with these programs or if you're competent, I'll gladly help you set it up if you lack the know how.

Finally, I want people that aren't interested in doing their own thing. This means, when we happen to be playing together (I don't mind if you play on your own while we're not around) you stick with the group. If we're in Act 1 farming, you will be there too. I don't like the current scenario of the beta pugs, where everyone runs around and does his or her own thing. Have a "for the group" oriented mind.

Send me a reply on here if you're interested and we'll talk. I look forward to hearing from you guys and girls.

EDIT: I should probably mention that if I manage to get more than four people interested, I'll gladly arrange a second or more group setting. I can manage those additional groups as well.

posted a message on Another Barb nerf patch
    Quote from Kiwimustang67

I really want to play the Barb on launch so therefore I have been following closely any changes or improvements to his skills. But I have noticed a constant pattern with every patch since at least 13 that he has been nerfed in way or another every time. In this latest patch weapon throw nerfed 20 %, what are they afraid of? that he mite survive Inferno.....oh no! can't have that lets weaken him some more. Demon Hunter in patch 16 got a good buff in a lot of ways which is fine even tho I thought she was starting to hold her own any way. All I am saying is give the Barb a break, soon there will not be any decent skill to go with because he will be too balanced and no skill will be efficient enough in tougher area's......your views?

You can't honestly believe half of this. You think Blizzard wants one class (or to put it in much nicer % terms, 20% of their game) to be worthless? You can't be serious. They are tweaking the numbers so that damage is similar amongst the classes. DH got a good buff in patch 16 because their skills were all lackluster. You haven't even had a chance to look at the unique and class sets of the Barbarian.

All of your comments are misinformed and quite frankly, lack basic logic. Please refrain from flooding these forums with illogical and whine based posts. I come here to try to read interesting insights, perspectives and thoughts from other people. Not this kind of sad, sad posting.

    Quote from Haedrath

I know it won't take long... but I mean.. I kinda wanna experience the game totally from a hardcore perspective... not knowing what to expect form things down the line before I run into them.

There really isn't anything of significant difficulty or perspective to be gleamed from up to level 10. The game will become far, far more interesting and "surprising" than the first ten levels.

posted a message on Melee Wizards Have No Chance?
    @Sumsarr.

That has to be the worst over generalization I have seen in a long time and I edit and mark papers for a university. You neglected to even account for skill differences. Your math of "lol they have 30% that means melee wiz not possible, lol" is sad. If you actually spent the time to consider the possibilities available to the wizard, you would see that it is not as one-sided as you posted it to be.

Let's go through your invalid points chronologically.

Nerfing Weapon Throw. This was made because the amount of damage possible (if you even attempted to try napkin math here, you'd see) was extremely high. They reduced the %weapon damage on almost all of the Barbarian's abilities, including weapon throw. I hardly see your case for there being no more throw barbarians.

Removing fundamentals. Again, not a very good argument. There are plenty of ways to play a melee DH. What is even more, we do not even know the itemization of D3 yet. A lot of builds that were viable in D2 only became viable because of the items. Quite a short sighted and thought lacking point.

Removing virtuoso = You want a wizard to only use their wands? I do not understand your point. This point made me think that you just want to play random and weird builds for no good apparent reason. While that is your prerogative you cannot expect every single off-shot build you come up with to be optimal or even efficient in killing the minions of D3.

Chakram nerf. So, your point about build diversity and viability loses me here. You think ONE skill should determine the viability of an entire subsection of a type of DH? Sounds like you're contradicting yourself here. A nerf to chakram, if we're following your logic, does not mean a nerf to all melee DHs, just one of the melee DHs YOU want to play.

I've already touched on the 30% thing, but to reiterate, what? The skill sets and rune choices of the other classes allow for similar mitigation. At a dps cost? Perhaps, but if you were to check any of the 'melee' abilities of those non-stereotypically melee classes, you would notice that the spells have a higher base damage anyways. I don't think you've even tried to think about this issue. Makes me sad.

posted a message on I wish "Rage" abilities would be weaker, and have shorter CD.
No offense, but I don't think you quite adequately grasp this cooldown concept. This is a common argument I see often from people who have not even thought about the situation beyond the surface.

This is not WoW. 120 second cooldown does not mean you will be fighting for 120 seconds before it is up again. There are so many circumstances where two minutes have passed and little has happened. ACTUAL up-time of this ability will be much, much higher than 1/8th-1/6th because your time spent fighting is not 100% of the time. Even if you are surrounded by mobs you will want to position yourself a certain way. I imagine this will become increasingly important for Inferno.

If you have seriously thought about this, you would have factored in: the time you spend running around (whether during combat or simply to get to the next mob/place) the time you spend going back to town after having a full inventory, 'mini breaks' (washroom), practically any and every time you spend doing something other than attacking. Which amounts to a decent length of time. A two minute cooldown really will not feel the same way it does in WoW. On that front, I am certain that this perspective will hold true for me and many other individuals.

As per the "spammy versus cooldown" models. This game has changed because the player base has changed. It is no longer fun for the majority of people playing video games to spam one or two spells over and over. People also want things that are incredibly strong. There are many psychological aspects at play here that Blizzard has always utilized well in their video games. To use conjectural phrases like "silly" to refer to someone else's argument and opinion is ironic. Please avoid little ad hominem arguments as they only reveal that the person making them is often subject to the same criticism they are making of another.

Diablo 3 will define the Diablo franchise. This is because it will become so wide spread and popular as to overshadow its predecessors. The game needs to have spam spells and cooldown spells. They are trying to balance this game around a fun and interesting decision making process along with balance against monsters and for the PVP system they plan to implement in the future. It would be difficult to balance a Diablo 3 PVP system if you have your strongest hitting abilities available on short cooldowns.

I would implore more posters to try to have thought through their problems with the game, instead of reiterating and regurgitating someone else's thoughtless rant about a particular subject matter.

posted a message on Why do *you* want to play Beta
Honestly, I'm just looking for a new game to get into. I have been waiting for D3 for a long time and I have loved D2.

I currently play a lot of the major titles (LoL, COD, WoW) and I am starting to get bored of them. Everytime I have picked up D2 or new A-RPG, I generally can't help myself. So, I guess one reason I'd like to play the beta is just to simply do something on my 'bored' time between playing the current games I own.

I also like testing, so there's that aspect as well. My reports on bugs and issues is usually thorough and I would love an opportunity to fix as much as I can, even though I know that the amount that I have access to is incredibly limited; it's still something.
