posted a message on Nerf the dh
Any nerf to this set will bring a massive shitstorm, and blizzard knows it. As somebody on page 1 already said, the problem is that all the classes have a single set that pretty much dominates everything else. The endgame is find your set, find the random legendaries that supplement it, then roll face on keyboard while you search for the exact same items you already have but with higher / better rolls.

posted a message on [Guide] Legendary Crafting Materials - Drop locations & uses
With the release of patch 2.0.6, Legendary Crafting Materials are no longer required to craft items and hence no longer drop!

Adventurer's Journal still drops due to a bug, though.
Any Legendary crafting materials you currently have can be sold to a vendor for 50,000 gold.

Thank you to everyone who contributed!

This guide should serve as the one place you want to look when you're wondering where to get the Legendary crafting materials for your level 70 Legendary and Set craftable items as well as what they're good for when you've found some while slaying the monsters of Sanctuary.

    Changelog:

    Introduction:
With the release of Reaper of Souls, many new level 70 crafting recipes are being added which require an additional Legendary material besides Forgotten Souls, the level 61-70 version of Fiery Brimstones, acquired by salvaging level 61-70 Legendary items.
These additional materials can each be acquired from specific monsters or lootable objects in the world, allowing players to focus on farming specific materials for the item they are looking to craft. This guide will detail how to acquire each of those materials and what they're used for.

While I've tried as best I could, I can of course not guarantee for the correctness and certainly not for the completeness of the information given here. However, keep in mind that none of the items have a 100% drop chance, so killing a certain monster a bunch of times without getting the desired item does not mean it doesn't drop it at all.
Please feel free to correct or add to anything I have listed here, I will attempt to update the main post as soon as possible. This is especially true for the "Acquired from" and even more so for the "How to farm" portions. If you find an item in a place that is not yet listed or believe another place might be better to go hunting for an item, please post it here.

Most of the items drop from SuperUnique monsters (the ones with a unique purple name and a title instead of their affixes below it), so keep an eye out for them, especially for Bounties targeting them!
Most of the materials only drop for level 70 characters.
These materials can be acquired on any difficulty and game mode.

The patch with the drop rates Vaneras mentions here is now live:
Normal Hard Expert Master Torment I Torment II Torment III Torment IV Torment V Torment VI
    15% 18% 21% 25% 31% 37% 44% 53% 64% 77%

Adventurer's Journal and Griswold's Scribblings can drop for lower level characters, even in vanilla Diablo 3. This is likely due to the fact that they drop from environment objects instead of monsters.

As of Path 2.0.5 Legendary crafting recipes no longer require white items!

The Legendary crafting recipes required to craft these items seem to be random drops and can be acquired from any monster or container in any zone, game mode or difficulty, with the exception of the recipe for Reaper's Wraps, which drops off Malthael. Therefore, finding them is based entirely on luck.

I've watched my buddy get the chantodos offhand from gambling. Old sets still drop at 60+, so it seems you can gamble for some.

    Old Sets: yes

Old Sets that got upgraded to "torment only" (the big class sets, with more than a 2p bonus): no.

    Just as simple as that.

Again, this may have been changed; a buddy of mine in one of the top us guilds swears he got tal's mask after that loot hotfix went through Wednesday.

The old class sets (Tal Rasha's, Inna's, and so on) were also moved to Torment-only. The updated list can be found here:

what, do you mean you cannot get tal's from kadala anymore? :(

You never could on live. They actually made this change a week before the release of RoS, if I recall correctly, so Kadala never handed Tal's to people on live. (Neither did she to me in beta ;-))

Except your list is outdated. Kinda weird to ask a question with the intent of making someone look stupid. Especially when your own answer is wrong.

Because it is better than Diablo 2. There, I said it. It has an actual economy, it has a "respec system", a better skill system, better Legendary-Rare balance, and just flat out more variety in gameplay/grinding.

    Better than Diablo 2. Lol.

It has an actual economy.... ROFL

    a better skill system... roflroflrolforlfolro

    etc.

You sir are everything that's wrong with the gamers nowadays, and the reason why we get such crap products like D3 served to us in the first place.

Wow, I thought the D2 purists died out a long time ago. Tell me, does the jerkass attitude come packaged with the rose-tinted glasses, or is that a separate purchase?

    It's on Act III ^^

They were referring to the one where mobs fall on your head as you move on platforms, locking them in place. It was simply mentioned in the context of puzzles. It's certainly a bit different than the rest of the game.

But they will be tradeable before you upgrade them! That item will still be BIS, being a good base to upgrade on.

So there won't be a difference on whether the upgraded or the non-upgraded item gets sold in regards of a healthy economy. Just that you have a piece of garbage in your inventory once you replace that item.

    Quote from Tempster

There shouldn't be BiS items in the first line. That's the whole problem at the moment that 90% of all classes and all speccs need the same items.

I understand that pretty much, but people are just cursing the auction house for the games misery which is just wrong. And they will see this once this BoA stuff is driving even further. People won't admit it, the complaints just won't wear off.
Just this morning I told someone, the AH would be less of a problem if not everyone was interested in the exact same stats on a specific item slot like main stat + vita + chc + chd. The demand for items would be spread more widely and the prices more balanced.
Furthermore the chance to find an expensive item would be higher since the garbage rate would be lower automatically. Also the price of the most expensive items would be lower in relation to the rest of the items because not all players need that exact item.

And people who don't want to trade: just making items tradeable doesn't make them harder to obtain through gameplay.

posted a message on Really disappointed with D3 going normal to nightmare
This is why it is impossible for any game developer to tune a difficulty level that makes everyone happy.

The point they've tuned it at now has some players virtually falling asleep playing through normal and nightmare and sometimes even hell, whilst others honestly find those difficulty levels too difficult. Hell, I even remember early after release a thread on the forums that started with one player who quite honestly declared that he was disappointed with D3 because normal-mode Belial was literally impossible for him to beat.

p.s. if you "don’t have time to obsess over [your] character build".. if it's any consolation, when I got to the point where I really felt that I'd hit the wall, it took no more than five minutes of forum browsing and a couple of skill changes to get me moving forward again. I guarantee you that you can make things a lot easier without having to get into Elitist Jerks levels of spreadsheet crunching.

Similarly, I would say that unless you are deliberately aiming for a challenge mode - and it doesn't sound like you are - just go to the AH and buy a few pieces. At your level, even a few thousand gold will buy you massive upgrades. I'm not telling you to bust out the credit card and buy your way to power, just go an buy a weapon with double the DPS of your current one. You'll probably find hundreds of them for sale for not much more than their vendor price.

I understand that some people aren't happy about this game design decision, but as Blizzard said, loot drops are tuned around the idea that the AH is there for trading, if you choose not to use it you are deliberately choosing to play a challenge mode. It's probably on par with playing hardcore rather than regular mode.

WD is nerfed. Yes, the increase damage is good, but over all, the class is the weakness class. If you going to nerfed VQ, at the very least, decrease the resource requirement.

Wiz take 10 seconds with no passive to recharge all resource. WD requires 13 seconds with VQ active. So how is this a bluff?

You don't seem to understand what "nerfed" means.

It certainly doesn't mean "I'm not happy with one change of the class".

The Gargantuan attacks for 100% (up from 25%) of your weapon damage as Physical.
-> Wrathful Protector : Summon a more powerful Gargantuan that only lasts for 15 seconds. The Gargantuan's fists burn with fire, dealing 110% (up from 55%) of your weapon damage as Fire and knocking enemies back.
    Shitty deal i guess.
