sounds like the guy is just here whining like a bitch and doesn't even realize that the build has just changed and may require a specific legendary or two to pull off instead of cheesing it and abusing broken game mechanics. working as intended imo

So you want it to be broken, but only if the person has a specific item? How is that better?

But realize there's a very large chunk of players (judging solely on the sentiment I see on both here and the Bnet forums) that DO care about how out of control the economy could get...

Those guys that rather prefer no economy at all should just ignore the broken economy that exists when there also is a solid selffound experience. It seems quite hypocritical for me if someone demands a good selffound experience and still complains once he gets it, just because other players also get what they want.

The inflated economy of Diablo 2 non-ladder always found a common currency once the old one became uninteresting or worthless. When I started playing Diablo 2 11 years ago, the standard currencies were 290s charms, 3/20/20 charms, sojs, high runes, ist runes etc. Ignore the fact now all of these were duped for sure in non-ladder, because in ladder mode where dupes are very unlikely compared to 1.08/1.09 times, the same thing happens with standard currencies.
So what I actually want to say with this is, the economy always found a way to have a more or less stable currency. The inflation also didn't make standard uniques completely worthless, because at some point people didn't even bother starting a trade for a too low price and thus the price of those items was stable or effectively increased based on inflation.

What I want to add is, like I said before, just saying no is a suggestion and reflects the personal opinion perfectly (otherwise a no wouldn't be sufficient). I also don't see a point to start a middle-ground discussion with selffound players. They are the ones who get EVERYTHING they demanded, without compromises. And yet the pro-traders are expected to step into negotiations of what could be an acceptable compromise? There is none, because whatever gets suggested to lift trading restrictions doesn't affect the selffound experience in any way (and what is known from RoS there will be a solid selffound experience). So those compromises are always one-sided and basically just need "approval" from the anti-trade faction. I don't think there is a solid foundation for compromises and I will just draw the consequences. And while I am still interested in the progress of the Diablo franchise, it should be understandable I take part in the discussions.

Where is any real suggestion or noise from you besides contradicting OTHER people day in and day out

Just saying "no" is a form of suggestion as well - you indirectly suggest the opposite of what was said. It just means the suggestion is not a compromise or middle-ground.

Regarding the suggestion, I don't think it will find a lot of fans. The idea of playing together and helping out a lot sounds good, but in practice it won't happen a lot.
Also providing access to everyone in the guild will lead to either of two things:
    - The stash will remain empty because of not enough trust in many clan members
    - clans will only consist of friends that know each other for some time and trust each other, completely destroying the opportunity to make new friends.

Both can be solved by adding a rights management for permissions, but this will just encourage every player to have his very own clan for his personal extended clan stash (which will happen either way, with or without a permission system).

    Quote from CardinalMDM

Mass trading and economies aren't what a game like this is about, and they're most certainly not necessary to continue on.

Don't sell your opinion as a fact.

They know the players (like me and you) don't have accurate memories of how they play Diablo...

I am not 70 years old and played Diablo 2 and 3 recently. I have an accurate memory of this.

    Quote from GDI

If you start up a brand new crusader and start finding legendary items, trading these items to other people would disrupt the flow of the game.

No, who is forcing you to leave the game immediately to go to trade?

    Quote from GDI

Everyone would have every legendary and there would be no point in leveling your crusader.

    No and no.

    Quote from GDI

    Legendaries essentially make leveling redundant.

    Also no.

How does everyone think you have to do nothing to get gear from trades? You need something of equal value (or higher) to make a trade. Now make a guess, where does an item with equal value come from?
Whoever said you need something of equal value? Friends often give to their friends without an actual "trade" in that sense. Or even more so, D2 games named "Free stuff". Ain't much exchange going on there.

And that's still someone "trading" that to you. I.e giving it to you - just in this case, in exchange for nothing. Beyond this - drop rates are still going to be great enough to eliminate the immedeat need for trading. If you like that beyond the point of nessecity - then it's a perosnal preference that does NOT reflect "the state of the game getting worse". That's you not liking trading not being there. can't please everyone.
Those "free stuff" games are just there to get rid of garbage. Those items are neither good nor worth anything. The same happens with gear given to friends, mostly starter gear. Nobody just gives his most precious stuff away, even to a friend. Just some spare parts, so the friends can play a little bit together without one of them being a huge burden. Furthermore it doesn't happen really often, you let it sound like everyone is giving away his gear for free. Welfare for everyone !

In general it looks good, but there are a few flaws. For example, the contrast of the quote boxes (to the text inside) is not really good with those bright red backgrounds. Also the forum ticker on the front page only shows 4 entries, it used to be more than 4 and it seemed clearer.

But you guys are missing the point. Instead of working for levels and skill points to "build" a character you have to work to find items to "build" your character. They aren't saying don't play the Frost Wiz they're saying keep playing your wizard and one day you'll find all the items you'll need to make a perfect frost wizard.

To support what Pietrak said regarding being controlled, I am so not going to play a wizard with a build I don't want to play.

There have been dupes in the auction house though.

I thought that was just from people taking advantage of blizzards account restoration policy (which was changed a while back to make restored items BoA). I wouldn't consider those dupes at all.

Might be, I haven't done research on that matter. If so, I haven't said anything.

There have been dupes in the auction house though. But nevertheless, I think duping in Diablo 3 is not for the public like it was in Diablo 2 when there were mass dupe waves and thus it's a minor issue.

I hadn't thought of that, but we were talking about D2, which didn't have the whole materials thing. There, the primary use for duping was to trade away items, which you can't do under a BoA system.

I transferred this to Diablo 3 because the whole thread basically is about D3. Even in D2, duping in a BoA environment would have had benefits like having infinite tries on a runeword to get a perfect one, duping a perfect ring for the 2nd slot or just dupe the runes themselves to make every single runeword out there (you can cube up to Zod in ladder mode).

I seriously doubt the existence of trading had anything to do with the existence of hacks and dupes. Bots, maybe (although they are also used to advance one's own characters); spam, certainly. But not hacks and dupes.

Well, there's no point in duping a BoA item, since you can't give it to another player and you can't equip two of the same Legendary (as far as I know).

Salvaging. You can dupe the mats themselves too probably, but duping in general still has it's place.

Bots, hacks and dupes will still exist as long as they are possible. Those are still the fastest ways to progress your own character and cheaters always take that path, if possible. It has nothing to do with trades. The only thing that might vanish are gold sellers, but afaik gold is not going to be bound to the account, or is it (didn't research this)? So if it's still possible to trade gold, gold sellers will persist as enchanting is a good way to spend it.

But the new legendary system suggests me I should only play said frost wizard if I have, for example, frost burn to be most efficient. So this basically doesn't encourage me to play different wizard builds, but it keeps me from playing a wizard at all until I get the proper gear for the type of wizard I want to be.

Not exactly my point. With Loot 2.0 and BoA legendaries you will be encouraged to play what is most effective at the moment. So you want to get those Frostburns and start freezing stuff but instead you will be burning stuff because you've got the Magefists. A price to pay for a game without bots...

Yeah I got your point. I was just saying, that instead of playing fire, I would just not play wizard at all. I have my preferences.
