Hell yeah I agree with the OP. I'd use it for aesthetic reasons even if the skill end up being crap... Now that I think about it, crocodiles would work for me as well. XD

Bad Medicine not for solo? Hmm... I was thinking of just the garg as my summon, big stinker rune + bad medicine. Then a bunch of nukes(both poison and physical ones). Well, I could always change up if it doesn't work. :)

The toad just swallowing a single enemy doesn't look too attractive, but if it can swallow other players or elites--then I'm all for it. Does anyone know if it can be aimed? I know the base skill can't be aimed, if we can use it to hold elite mobs for 5 secs, then I can see a use for it.

Well, if they make farming for PvP stuff in Inferno more fun, then yes, I am with them for going that way. Let's face it, Baal runs were deathly boring(my honest opinion). If farming for end game stuff is more challenging, or at least not as repetitive, then D3 will already be a success for me. :)

the monks revive is worth it, WDs? maybe for hardcore broski

Fair enough, you have to admit though, fighting on that last sliver of health will give you more thrills than whatever that other viable passive to keep you alive. I understand you perfectly though, not the best choice for what you're intending to do with your build. I'll try it out for you instead, once we do get PvP... :)

I think the fact that they withheld the PvP means they are trying to make sure it works fine. If it's THAT more PvM-centric then they could've just thrown in what PvP system they had at hand and just fix it later. I think it's fair for me to believe Blizzard knows PvP keeps a lot of players playing. I find it weird that they're saying they're not aiming to make D3 an e-sport, but introduced an arena and teamfights -- as opposed to the old, unorganized way of PvP in D2. We can't really tell if open world PvP is out of the question, they could always enable an open PvP server or something for that, like most online games. Blizzard has made lots of changes with some of their games before, and I appreciate that they gamble to see if they came up with something that MAY BE BETTER. They won't get everything right, but at least there's that effort to change things up. Time will tell. I do agree with PvP'ers too, I personally farm for hours on end --- for PvP, with all the games I play. :)

Your build is squishy anyway, and you've been bragging about knowing how to dodge. I say go for it, one extra hit matters if you can be good enough to land 3 hits before they manage to land that final blow. :)

In Diablo 3, people will shift through different combinations of skills that have very little identity. They aren't builds, just combinations. When somebody says they are making a crit barb or an aoe barb or bash barb, you will have absolutely no way of knowing what the hell their build actually is. It's just another combination of skills that does the same crap as the next guy's.
    I don't quite agree...

Sure, there will be some shifting. But I played Diablo II with free respecs (plugY) most of the time, and continual shifting doesn't make sense and not something I did often.

Sure, I started a Shock Zealer, and I can probably switch to a Frozen Zealer, heck, maybe even to a Vengeance Pally. But say I switch to an Avenger, I'll need quite different gear even at middle levels. I prioritize really fast attack speed with low damage on Zealers. I need a somewhat fast weapon for an Avenger but damage is far more important. I need a tiny bit of mana leech and I'm set for my Zealer. I need a shitload of mana recharge/leech/add for an Avenger.

Knowing my typical layout, I could probably get to middle of Nightmare on a Zealot. Say I switch to Avenger there... well, tbh, I'd probably just like not be able to do anything just because of my gear. I'd have to go to like early Nightmare or late Normal and farm for a damage weapon. And these are fairly similar builds. The more similar two builds are, the more shifting you'll see. But gear will regulate that.

What you WOULD probably see is people possibly switching when they find new gear that doesn't fit their current build. And that'll only work so far. Closer to Inferno builds will get more stagnant, and then you have Nephalem Buff on top of that.

I agree with this, in D2 we have a limited number of respecs, but honestly, we spend more time finding gear than levelling - builds are complete when we get the target equipment for that build. The difference between D2 and D3 in that regard is still big, but it's still generally the same in that builds involve equipment to a large degree. What are "builds" anyway? If someone says "crit barb" and the fact that there's a lot of ways to do that in D3 sounds better than knowing exactly what equipment, skill, and stat allocation that player has. Two "whirlwind barbs" in D2 would have similar equipment, same skills and synergies - no identity. Two "AOE Barbs" in D3 could have little in common with gear, skill and rune choices. More individuality, I would say. :D

And I know of only 3 viable "builds" for Necromancers, and around 2-3 variations for each. And all these builds have a lot in common for target equipment, and same stat allocation.

everything hinges on whether certain slow effects stack, I really want spirit walk as an initiator of sorts with the crimson or obsidian rune, or as a counter attack of sorts a la Nerubian Weaver. XD Then I deal damage with the spiders, swarm and bats combo... I changed the passives to add in the attunement, to help with the mana problem caused by pierce the veil, altough I might ditch pierce in favor of jungle fortitude since I won't be using summons at all, then shift gear focus to survivability... Playing out a slow-death kind of witch doctor :)

All this theory... I wonder if I'll ever get into the beta, being in Asia and all that. :)

I'd use it with the rune that adds a slow effect, for PVP, but beyond that, I completely agree with the original post. The animation is awesome though. :)

That makes a lot of sense, I'm not sure about how cooldowns would be at release but I don't think I'll use the acid cloud in addition to firebats, or at least not with the crimson rune. I agree with removing confusion, because now that I think about it it would make AOE harder to aim, versus having them try to gang up on me.. :)

I'm gonna tinker around with the calc a bit more, I can have more slow AOE with the zombie wall, and maybe change the passives. If the slowing effect won't stack, then I'll shift focus to damage AOE. XD Now I'm actually giving blood ritual more thought as well.

I honestly like your setup, although I would personally avoid blood ritual, or change some of your runes to ones that will give lifesteal.

I'm also planning on making a WD, and was thinking of using more slow/area effect skills. I don't like using summons so I'm planning on this:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#VWjgYU!eZS!YacacZ

is there any info about how slow would stack?

Maybe those who don't like it should play SC, like most people would. If some are saying that finishing the game in HC isn't worth anything, then why are there complaints? Seems like there is a concern because they themselves want to be able to say "I play D3, on hardcore." I honestly don't care what's there to HC, and I won't be playing on HC, ever.

I find that the cause for the disjoint in opinion is between those who want to say "I play HC" but don't want to live with what makes it hard, and those who want to say "I play HC" and want it to be as hard as possible, to make bragging all the more worth it...

Of course this is an opinion, and this is the internet. I hope to play with you guys once the game comes out :)
