posted a message on Stash space

Are there any plans to allow for more than 6 stash tabs?

I picked up the game a few months ago, last time I played there was an AH! I slowly progressed to be able to run GR50+ on my Barbarian and am experimenting with gear trying to find different combinations. I have three toons, and I was sort of managing on the first two, even though my stash was full, then I tried to start a Wizard, and that is another 4 sets to collect plus other pieces and it's impossible. I have made mules to drag the barbarian's and WD's gear out of the stash but still it's full.

I am abandoning the game because I cannot store the gear I pick up anymore. It's very frustrating and am not enjoying having to throw away pieces due to some spurious and arbitrary 6 tab limit.

Next time I pick up the game there will probably be another 20 classes to play! Good GRs all :-)

Hello and thanks for your reply and for link,

Strangely enough, on my seasonal toons, I do not have Restraint, or Compass Rose. I have a ton of Traveler's Pledge and a ton of Focus...

My CHC is 20.80% and the CHD is 367%. Area damage is 66%, I can add another 100% CHD on the one ring and on the gloves, so that would be 467% total.

So I wait until I get good rings.

Regarding the CHC vs CHD I am not sure how it works. I constructed a table in Excel to see the effects of CHC vs CHD. It appears that a 5% increase in CHC is much better than a 50% increase in CHD once you get some chunky CHD, at anything over 150% CHD (and most of us have well over that) it pays you to concentrate on CHC than CHD.

OK I can now do GR50 with 5-6 minutes left on my Barbarian. Se uses the Earth set and the Blade of the tribes, She basically stands still and calls down on Avalanche and Earthquake. Uses the Ancient Spear to improve the cooldown of Leap and uses Leap on cooldown. Basically it is an easy to play build because you simply mash all the 6 buttons.

But the build hinges on the Ring of Might (cubed) which increases armor for 8 seconds after a Leap. My toughness increases from 29 ml with War Cry to 255 ml ! Without this ring the build is useless, or I cannot see how to get 255 ml toughness otherwise.

The stumbling block now is damage, at GR50 solo it is OK (with 5 mins to spare) but in Torment X bounties the going is really slow.

This is my toon, her name is Barbarosa if any one can tell me how do other guys with less Paragons come in and clean house so easily?

I just tried my Barbarian. Had a similar experience. Did a GR40 which was very hard, but doable, tried some new gear, decided against it so put the old gear back on, tried the GR40 and as you said was like paper mache... Back to GR30 and it is hard stil, not sure how this works..

I have hit a hard ceiling at around GR35-GR40 with both the WD and the Barbarian. Both have multiple full sets and both seem to suffer from survivabiility before lack of firepower.

I cannot see what other gear exists that will allow me to jump from GR30-35 to say GR70 ! The build guides mention the exact same gear as I use but at GR40+ I am one shotted most of the time , so I am confused :)

    Hello

In the past I used to do GR 40-ish just about, with Jade Harvesters gear, and my problem was I could not kill things but I could run around OK.

After a few weeks of no play, I took up my WD, experimented with different gear, went back to the original Jade but now it seems she is dieing so easily it is completely unplayable.

I lowered the GR level to 30 and she is still dieing easily, there is a vast difference to how it was before.

To top it all, I just finished a GR30 and with difficulty, with two deaths, and as I was at the Jewels woman, I kept getting attacked by a mob. It looked like a budger, white stripe running down its back. It was patrolling around the woman and attacking me whenever I went close to her. It would not let me upgrade my gems. I could not target it or attack it, it had no health bar. In the end I used Spirit Walk to become untargetable and be able to upgrade.

    Weird game.

posted a message on My random build

After having played the WD a little while I have settled on a build that allows me to do Empowered GR40 and maybe higher (I have not tried).

The idea is to stand away from the action, like a ranged character.

I am using 2-set Jade Harvester + Haunting Girdle as my main damage dealer. I am using Haunt + Draining Spirit to keep mana up and the cubed Aquila at all times.

Then I am using 6 piece Zunimassa's to get a lot of pets. I have the Zombie Dogs (3) as well as Fetish Army / Daggers (8) + Gargantuan + 15 Fetish Sycophants, for a total of 27 active pets on screen as well as the Enchantress, 28.

I am using Creeping Death to allow Haunt to last forever and re-ignite the 8 second cooldown of the Zunimassa, but maybe it's not needed.

On the weapon and off hand I use the Manajuma's which allows me to run really fast and avoid most obstacles or to get out of trouble.

I do not have any other gear at the moment or better weapon for other combinations. Since I can do GR40 I presume I am just half way there to GR90? Seems like a very long way to go.

I am sorry for ranting on about random rolls. Having a degree in stats and being a computer programmer since for ever does not help either. My next rant/questions about foul play will be directed towards the specific thread.

I have used the word "toon" since Diablo 1 and then Diablo 2, and then WoW. I still play WoW but occasionally nowadays, the LFR is a meaningless Diablo 3 style fest - the whole screen is covered in explosions and FX and it's very quick and chaotic. My impressions anyway. So I came to Diablo to have some single-player, "I can pause" fun.

Back on thread, I have followed your advice and now doing GR40 Empowered with my WD solo with some changes to the setup. Instead of using the Soul Harvest which required me to be close up and personal (and getting killed) I am still using 2-set Jade Harverster's with a Haunting belt, 6-piece Zunimassas which gives me lots of pets to tank for me so I can stay in the back and Haunt, and 2-set piece Manajuma's which lets me run like crazy through the dungeons. Obviously this is not GR90 but still a major game change.

I then spend the Blood Shards on trying to gear my Seasonal Wizard and Demon Hunter, which may be a silly idea, because my non-seasonal DH has got a Mutlishot bow+quiver and other set stuff and he was doing very well pre-season 9. How will I ever gear the seasonal DH to match that ? And how long is the season 9 going to last before it all gets merged anyway?

posted a message on Poor man's wizard

    Hello

I have tried to play the Wizard with Firebirds and with / without Archon. It seems even though I manage to apply 3 fire damages to the mobs and they are "burning" there is not much damage anyway and it takes some time to build the 3 fire buffs. Going into Archon with Vyr's 2 set bonus did a lot of damage but I was dead fish once out of archon. In addition "mana" seemed to be a great problem

Could someone please help me with a poor man's version of the Wizard?

posted a message on Best way to gear up a toon

I had replied and my comment got deleted/lost.

A few days ago I rolled for a new set item in the cube, the set being 7 pieces and me having just 2 with one duplicate. I rolled and kept getting the two pieces I already had, and I ran out of mats (forgotten souls). I think I rolled 10 times. After having farmed mats, yesterday I rolled again and got a pair of gloves (that I did not have) on the 5th roll, the first 4 being unsuccessful.

The maths is this. 7 pieces of gear, I have 2, 5 remaining. The chances to roll a new piece of gear is 5/6 and to roll an existing piece is 1/6. Having rolled 10 times and failing the odds are 0.000001654%. Yesterday I was luckier and rolled only 5 times. The odds for 4 failed rolls are 0.077%.

I believe the rolls are weighted to give you what you already have with a small chance to get a new piece, a very small chance probably.

Then there is the "upgrade" chances on the gems, as displayed on the screen. A little while ago, I rolled 4 times with 60% displayed chance, failed every single time. It was a low level GR just for a laugh to see if doing low level GRs is more time efficient than the harder ones, in terms of upgrading the gems. Another day I rolled with 80% and 90% displayed chances. failed 3 out of 4 times in 3 or 4 successive GRs, and it took me 3 or 4 runs to upgrade just 4 levels, from 21 to 25. Had the displayed chance read "10%" I'd get it, but when it says "90%" and it fails so often I think it's weighted.

I know people complain about "RND" and I know there are people who say "this is true random, just grin and bear it", but we can actually collect some data and do some simple maths and see if it fits. A statistical sample of 10 successive rolls in the cube, or 4, cannot be ignored because the odds are infinitesimally small, or there is "foul play" which is my opinion.

    Quote from Bagstonego-next

60% is 60%. It does not fail "all the time", it fails 2 out of 5 times on average. However, you might sometimes fail all 5, or succeed with all 5. It's RNG.

You mention three upgrades; that makes me wonder if you're playing at a too high difficulty. If you don't die, you get another upgrade, so always try to run a GR tier where you don't die. Also always empower (unless you're not sure if you can finish the rift). There's no reason to ever no empower. If you don't have money, run a Vault (just put a Puzzle Ring in the cube). You should always have 5 upgrade chances for gem upgrades when running GRs with the goal of upgrading gems. It's essential and everything else is a waste of time.

Higher GRs net more bloodshards. I don't know the exact numbers, but I think it's something like 120 for GR25, 250 for GR50, and +3 for every next rift level, so approx. 400 for GR90. You also get more legendaries; again, no exact numbers, but I'd say roughly about 1 more per 10 GRs.

There is no difference in loot however. You can find the best-rolled item in the world in a GR1 rift, and you can get absolute crap in a GR100.

Farming for gear: Yes, blood shards (for armor) and cubing weapons/amulets is the way to go. Rings can be a pain in the ass and both cubing and gambling for them is fine. Generally Torment rifts are a bit better for loot in the early stages since you get also DBs and materials to upgrade stuff in the cube; GRs are mainly important or your gem levels (always make sure you get 5x 100% ugprades as long as possible on the lowest rift possible, so for example GR34 if your main gem is rank 20) and paragon (the higher the better as long as you can reliably finish the rift).

I am convinced there is foul play. Say I am trying to roll on a six-seven piece set and I have the two pieces, with one duplicate, so three pieces in total in the stash. On a 7 piece set, rolling in the cube I have 5/6 chances to roll a new piece. 1/6 to roll an existing one. On the first instance a few days ago I ran out of mats and gave up after around 9-10 tries. On the second instance yesterday I had a lot of mats and the fifth run gave me the gloves which I did not have, the first four rolls kept switching between the two pieces I already had, just like the ten rolls I did a few days ago.
Now if I take a dice and roll it 10 times, and keep getting an 1 for 9-10 consecutive rolls this is such a small chance do you know what it is? It's like 2 millionth per cent. And just for the 4 failed rolls yesterday, the probability is like 0.08%. You have to roll the dice 4 times and get 1 every single time.
Therefore I believe the "dice" is weighted and has the propensity to give you what you already have more than what you do not have. Can't explain it otherwise. A 0.08% chance does not happen every day and a 0.00000165% chance is even harder to get.
Regarding the rifts, I tried to do an empowered GR35 on my WD but it was tough (did not have the royal ring equipped and was running with an incomplete set) and died once to arcane but finished in time and got 4 rolls. Then I did a GR30 and got 5 rolls. Maybe I will stick to what I am comfortable with.

I have discovered that doing a lower level GR even though offers me still three goes at upgrading a gem, and purports a 60% chance, fails all the time. Then I do a higher level GR and I get 100% chance and it succeeds.

I was wondering what else changes when you increase the GR difficulty or even the Bounties difficulty (other than what is written on the tooltips)? Do you get better quality items or set items that would not otherwise drop? Do items come with an "item level" that determines their stats and is that item level higher on higher difficulty games?

If you are farming for gear for, say, a brand new leveled toon, how would you go on about it? I am currently trying to get gear for my Wizard, so I am running GR35 with my WD and letting the Wizard spend the blood shards with no much luck...

Hey guys many thanks for the suggestions.

I have come across (it was in my stash unused!) Manajuma's and I am using it in combination with a full Arachyr's. It has transformed the game play. I am running around, invulnerable I believe, at 170% speed non-stop, revealing the map is seconds, reach a destination, explode my chicken, finish off anything remaining if I can be bothered, Hex and I am off again. Bounties in seconds. I am using Aquila's in the cube and my Mana is always at 100% unless I use the Wave of Piranhas to take out anything else and then my mana momentarily drops.

I have only played a little while and do not know how it will fare at higher levels, but the utility aspect of running around unhindered through mobs and doors, at 170% speed is unique. Nothing else I have seen comes even close.

The downside is that you are a chicken. Which I prefer anyway.

I have Arachyr's. Pox Fauld's, Nemesis Bracer's if I want to kill elites to farm Death's Breath, The Furnace and Aquila's in the cube.

I am not sure how it will fare at higher levels, currently am at Torment 7.

    Hi guys

I have made two "high-end" season toons, a barbarian and a witch doctor. I have noticed the over powered set bonuses and have them on my Barbarian but not yet on my WD.

What I am not sure about is defensive bonuses. It is all about attack but not so much about passive defense. So I have a "glass cannon" WD that crits for over 200 million so she can do around Torment 6.

However, in 6, and in 7 or higher of course, she can get one shotted what with arcane beams etc,

So I wanted to ask, how are defenses made to work? I cannot see set bonuses like "become immune for 10 minutes" or anything?
