posted a message on Monks & Barbs - Season 10.

    This whole thread is silly.

Firstly there is a reason leaderboards are class specific. Its not feasible nor reasonable to have EVERY class equal. Its just not how it works and honestly every game and every genera struggles with this. Blizzard knows this thats why the leaderboard's are separate. Now I could understand you being upset or annoyed if the monk or barb is directly competing with wizards etc but thats just not the case even in groups.

I remember a time when barbs had been OP as well as monks. This is true for EVERY class in the game. Every class has been strong at one time or another.

You're complaining that you are "forced to play support in the meta". I dont know where to even start with this statement. You are not forced to play anything. Firstly if you want to play damage do so, i also hope you are sitting down for this, you can also play a dps monk/barb in a group! As mentioned you can level and gear a character in like an hour if you have some friends, which i assume you do if you want to play in a group. I have most of the classes leveled and able to run GR60+ in less than an hour. If you aint enjoying playing your class, dont. If your group is forcing you to play support monk or barb dont play with them if its spoiling your enjoyment of the game.

I just facepalm everytime is see one of these topics rise concerning diablo. Its just silly. Even when i used to play WoW and warriors for example would complain about not being able to do damage in raids being forced to tank. Its their role, its their main purpose, if you aint interested in doing that dont play that class.

posted a message on Int on support barb

    Hi all,

The main reason for this topic is to see what everyone opinion on having int on a support barb.

I am currently gearing a support barb in between my time running 90+ solo GR's on my wizard. The main reason for this is the group of players i play with lack a support barb and I thought it would be a good idea.

I played support barb 3 seasons ago and have a good understanding of the current support build and items but of course like anyone I decided to check out the leaderboards to see what the best barbs had been running. To my surprise the top support barb (EU) actually had alot of int on his items. I'm assuming this is for the all resist but i was curious if this was more beneficial than just having strength on items and i thought this would be a good topic to raise with the community to gauge opinions.

So what are your thoughts on support barbs?

TL;DR : Gearing support barb, checked leaderboards, seen top barb had int on aot of gear, want to know what people think of having alot of int on support barb.

Lol wave of force has to be one of the most ridiculous abilities if spammed. The wizard just hops around.

I understand where you are coming from though but I guess alot of it is taste. I actually like some of his basic abilities like the scythe (ripped from Xul from Hots). The teleport he has looks nice and i think hey did a good job ith blood nova as well.

I look forward to seeing what they do with sets as well. I mean, i have said a few times that the nero is coming late in d3 cycle but its still exciting for something fresh and new.

Yea the higher CDR is really nice, i actually run in-geom in the cube up until GR90 as I prefer the extra cool down it offers.

I have primal tals gloves but 2 stats where really bad, with a roll i have ended up with int, crit hit, crit dmg and resource cost reduction. I actually change these at higher GR for my ancient onces with CDR.

Well its still early days into testing the necro so things can change as it did with all the classes.

I also believe blizzard said they didnt want the necro to be like he WD in the aspects of DoT effects. I mean the WD does have a really unique way of playing which some people enjoy (me included) its apart of what mkes the WD the WD.

My only real issue with the necro is the fact that i think its coming too late in the games life cycle + the fact on release that season you will see nothing but necros :D

I am very exited to see what people come up with as far as builds etc as i think the public are far more creative and imaginative than blizzard when it comes to playing the classes and developing builds and in doing so they directly effect the growth and cycle of the character on a whole. Going to be interesting to see over the next month or 2.

posted a message on Wizard cooldown %

I think the extra cooldown is worth it as every second out of archon is dangerous and can lead to death. You cant deal damage if you are dead and 2 seconds feels like a life time but you're right it a tough choice, shame it didnt roll with CDR instead of damage!

Also its true AKS can proc the ring more but AKS is a strange stat and there are certain caps you need to hit with it to be make it worthwhile. Im sure if you google the tables you can see for yourself.

I would test it yourself. I mean you will be rolling out the VIT anyway which gives you the opportunity to see which you prefer, i mean rerolls are nothing a far as resources are concerned so you can go wild!

What is your CDR at the moment?

I guess another question is, how far do you want to push in GR's? Most (if not all) the players in 90+ are using a variation of the build where they drop the hydra as well as zodiacs.

The reason for it is basically survivability, damage and how rifts run. Its mainly about grouping mobs into large packs then popping archon to take advantage of all your stacks and the rotation of CoE to just nunk them down. The big disadvantage is that you are out of archon for that much longer so high CDR is vital.

The best thing about this as well is you can test it, reroll the vit to CDR and run it and reroll it to AKS then see which you prefer. Personally I would go with CDR.

It is so ridiculously easy to get correct rolls on all your gear these days as the game throws legendary's at you. If you haven't got mostly optimal stat rolls across your gear then the choice in rolls is probably going to have very little impact as you won't be competing at a high level anyway. There is basically no decisions come gearing these days, just how well you can pilot the cookie cutter builds.

And yes I did read the post above... there is no reason you would want VIT on a Starfire.

Yes its easy to get the correct rolls but for them to be the best isnt as easy as you make out especially if you are min maxing but if its both cases the argument is void as if you are not pushing max ranks you will be happy with whatever and can easily push 60-70 on sub optimal stat choices.

I do agree that its possible to be successful and push say GR70 just by copying the "cookie cutter" builds and i'm sure most people will enjoy doing this, the game is what it is and people will enjoy it whatever way they want to. However it is possible to make meaningful choices in gear stats if you are running a build thats not in the meta and are trying to push as high as possible and to me thats also fun, especially trying new and different builds but i had this convo with a friend recently, the game itself has gone far more casual and the theory crafting side of the game has def fell off somewhat.

Yes that's also very true that you will never need VIT on starfire but i think the main argument would be what if it wasn't VIT and say another stat, say for arguments sake it had %dmg and AS, which do you re-roll? For me the choice would be dependent on what current gear and stats I have. If i was already pushing 60% CDR then perhaps i wouldn't re-roll either. Again you COULD follow to top build but for someone who was doing say 70's this wouldn't help them as much.

I believe this was the main point of the reply. Its better to take your time, think things through before making a mistake that you cannot go back on and then coming onto the forums making a post for them to change the system that basically negates silly mistakes.

For example my wizard and crusader both using goguk and striken so each time i want to use the other i have to remove the gems manually and drop them into my stash.

What I have is a profile called "EMPTY" as the #5 build for every character. It's just a profile of any of the builds minus legendary gems and "shared items" such as jewelry. Every time before I switch character or log out I quickly select this profile and then put the gems from my inventory into the stash. It's my workaround and it works pretty well.
This is a very intelligent ingenious work around, I think im going to start doing this! Though in the interest of mechanics i guess its not "ideal" as you are taking up an armour slot, it wouldnt be hard to have an option to unsocket all gems in gear.

Had to ask a million times about rolling VIT off a weapon over AS and INT... I would suggest looking for a simpler game if its that difficult to make the correct rolls. Just press shift L and it'll make it pretty obvious what you want on your gear

You obviously failed to read the thread and what was discussed which is obvious by your silly reply.

What works for the top players on the leader boards doesnt necessarily work for you. As stated in previous posts on this very topic, there are a number of factors that go into making them choices not to mention the balancing of stats involved.

posted a message on Armory question

I can tell you for a fact that its an armor for each character.

Example: I have a wizard at 70 and a crusader at 70, they each have their own 5 slots in the armory and cannot see each others builds.

While this is good it also presents its own set of problems. For example my wizard and crusader both using goguk and striken so each time i want to use the other i have to remove the gems manually and drop them into my stash. However i can then log the character and just hit equip which will put the gems into my rings. It would be nice if there was an option to unsocket gems. (unless there is and im missing something)

Well the mistake was yours. This to me seems like a post made by someone regretting a choice and coming to the forums to find comfort!

I think the primal system is fine, re rolling primal's would be far too powerful and it defeats the purpose of the game and farming for that good item as it would just revolve around running splits to get the resources to reroll the primals you get.

Lets not spread misinformation please. The Necromancer doesn't have any poison skills or abilities. One might argue however, that Blight is the same as poison, but that just isn't the case. Poison inherently has DOT affects, while Blight doesn't.

Yea like the previous poster stated i'm not really sure what you mean by this as i'm not spreading misinformation, i stated exactly what the developers have said and made an assumption which i also stated was an assumption.

We dont know enough about the necro or how their abilities work to make solid statements. They did say they didnt want the necro to be the same as the witch doctor but that doesnt mean that the blight curse isnt considered poison and can proc poison based passives on items like CoE as mentioned by gentlelove.

The 3 main damage types for the necro are physical, poison and frost. Going by that im going to assume skills and runes will have poison related afixes. The only thing they said was that thy are removing poison nova from the game.

What is there you dont get?
