One of the many nice things about d3resource.com is the data table on how the various difficulties affect common needs. You can see it here

It was a bit hard for me to make the comparisons between the right end and the left end of that wide image, so I rearranged it.

posted a message on End of Season 7 prediction?

Interesting suggestions, guesses and 'protective headwear'. Special credit for 'do the math' immediately followed by 'when Blizz says so'. Always good to get a clear and unwavering answer.

D3 devs probably play some other games too, right? There is a lot of 'borrowing' that appears in-game afterall. Besides Blizzcon, there is Opening Week to consider and dev membership on some team (that used to happen, perhaps it's been outlawed nowdays). Certainly there will be some video watching during OW. So most effective patching  will end in mid-Oct. Doesn't sound like a really big score in patch 2.4.2.1, maybe just finally getting all the cosmetics to drop and more zoo members, and a couple legendary tweaks.

On that idea, based on the above info, I say it is Friday Nov 4. It's going to be a Friday, leaves the servers in an 'idle' state while convention 'happenings' can occur and rolls out a tepid patch a couple weeks later. Perhaps mixed in with a last minute patch knifing just to ensure work for awhile longer.

posted a message on End of Season 7 prediction?

As usual, in the official Bliz announcement, an end date was not specified. Given the history of end dates this time of year (i.e. working around holidays etc) plus the 'belief factor' in Bliz keeping to the '3 month' end date, what do people predict for the final date of Season 7??

I think you overestimate how hard it is to get gear, even ancients, in this game. A casual player can most certainly finish a LoN set before seasons end, or whenever they want on nonseason.

With a month to go in Season 5, I started playing this game. Got schooled by the clan, played a copy-cat build and then branched out to a LoN build - which I finished and almost made a stash tab in the short time. But I did work, I used the cube, I gambled, etc

At the moment, the only way to make your own build work, without using set items, is using the Legacy of Nightmare set.

I think there should be an easier way to make fun builds using whatever legendaries you want.

    There is an easy way
    It's called "The Thrill" Conquest
except you leave out those LoN rings. It's simple, take any LoN build, figure out a couple rings to use and just take off. The most fun I've had in months, I look FORWARD to another g/rift :P

posted a message on Best classes for season 7 conquests?
    Quote from shakuran3»

The Thrill -- I didn't do this in season 5, but I heard that crusaders with +thorns gear seemed to have the easiest time of it. I might actually roll a crusader as an alt if I have to just for this conquest. What do you guys think will be the best class for this one in general, and also between WD and DH? I want to keep this one as an option because it might be easier than hitting GR 75.

Divinity -- This one intimidates me still, a little. The highest I've ever gone was GR 74, just barely, with a WD in season 6, though I didn't use Caldesann's Despair to augment anything. Since I know I'll have to do a little augmenting for the journey this time, that will help some. I'm also curious to see if the Ring of Emptiness buff and the new Helltooth Gargs/RoE build might make GR climbing easier than last season. I'm sure with enough grinding, paragons, gear, and augments anyone can hit GR 75, but I'm looking for advice on which classes can do it the quickest and most easily since my play time might be limited this season.

Avarice -- I did this with a UE DH in season 5 in the Ruins of Corvus. I'm not sure how gold changes and Torment level changes will affect this one though. Also, I guess a WD could do it about as easily. Still, I remember this one being a little random to get with a lot of room for error. Any

    thoughts on this one?

I tried Avarice on PTR in RoC, and would say little chance. The gold nerf hurts too much, you'd need a AoE build (like my Monk WoL) PLUS a lot of gold find and high Torment (==high GR). I took Avarice off my list of 'possibles'.... BTW, my Monk completed the 350 kill cursed chest the first time I ever even saw that A5 CC quest, so plenty of AoE.

Divinity seemed possible with enough Paragons, I was trying that new RoE+HT build on a first time WD and it seemed within reach...but then the PTR closed down. Lots of gr75+ leaders are missing Caldesanns (one lvl 50 Caldesanns is the same as 50 paragons into main stat) and there is some theory posted elsewhere that 2 waves of Caldesanns, separated by 20+ lvls, is a good plan --> putting in lvl 50 Caldesanns seems OK.

The Thrill, self-leveling on the PTR I was running T3 rifts in lvl20s and T4 in lvl30s. The massive leg drop rate powered that, since a weapon with reduced lvl reqs dropped. I wasn't playing main line skills, and thought that this one would be fun, setup a separate toon for it. I have more problems with the Set Dumbgeon and am planning on completing nearly everything for stash tab, switching to the easiest set to complete a Dungeon, and if I don't Master it, switching to a Thrill toon as it's a lot more fun than the Dumbgeons.

    lets nerf monks! yay!

They did, the Sunwuko WoL Ephiany bug is now worse, and that means less surviability and thus lower GRs.
Never seen a game nerf so much player power across classes, predicting mass desertions

"Okay, this really makes me wonder where you got this from. As a software
developer this is just cringe. You aren't really comparing a 1996 game
to a 2013 release? We're talking orders of magnitude in code complexity
here. D3 has a complex engine just for the combat mechanics (which makes
its combat feel so great, btw). D2 has... sprites. Also, D1/D2 were/are
full of bugs, whereas D3 has not seen any hacks or engine-based
exploits yet (also thanks to online only). Yeah, those times (the 90s)
were the times of "programming giants", but basically only due to one
name: John Carmack. Without a doubt, the Q3 engine was probably one of
the masterpieces of code. But D1 doesn't count in that category. What
was awesome was the storyline and (back then) novel concept. However,
none of the core members have been able to showcase their ability in the
    past 15 years."

Hehe, spites were a limitation of the graphics hardware, not the programmer. Carmack was good, but there were plenty of others you never heard of, let me recommend a certain 3 volume set. If I was in the core 15 years ago, I'd be enjoying the money, not fiddling bits. As for your complaints about the D3 user interface, I was merely comparing the d2 v d3 angle. As for the difference in 'something to do', if I got a white item in D2, I could do something with it (be crazy in the cracked sash game, imbue), In D3, white items are a joke, good for numbing crushing (so boring that there is a quick button) in order to use in some other recipe as a filler item (it's best use seems to be cubing to a different mat - i.e. same ****). The whole trading game was educational in D2, it is amazing what some people will trade - D3 is find everything yourself generally. PvP had some of the most clever builds, ah well....this is a bit pointless as it's like 'taste' or 'art', a matter of personal choice that cannot be argued. It is what it is

I'd kill the fun for all my friends if I'd just hand them full sets and ancients when they come online....

I wonder what you think of the season gift?? After all, it's never been that hard to get, since co-opt games are organized.
As for D2 vs D3, D2 had more possibilities, since the sets were weak. D3 has a clearly superior player interface (but a bit short on '5 & 6' keys). D2 seemed to always have something more to do, D3 has grinding for paragons, ancients, and caldesans... D2/D1 was written in the days of programming giants, D3 in the era of pretty pictures and screen flashes.

a Wizard can be expected to feel that way, not everyone was nerfed

    non-season just as nerfed....

stick around for the fireworks as the clones discover what you are talking about!
