Oh but it is. Bishibosh's corpse is even in there.
Really? Is it named and all or just a dead shaman= I never noticed in whenever I ran down there.

If it is, that seems like a rather odd omission on Blizzard's story department. I mean I assume they threw it in there as a wink to old players, but if so they ought to get it right.

    Quote from Shebnumi

I thought that it was explained that the whole world was changed by the destruction of the Soul Stone in Mount Arreat.
Not really. Just the general area around Mount Arreat, which is far away from DiabloWiki.com - Khanduras Khanduras which is where these places are all located.

Then why is the Den of the fallen (evil) so close to new Tristram?
Because it's not the same dungeon?

But even gods through out mythology that embodied things like war, thunder, etc. all have stories in which very relatable human traits are present. Zeus liked to come to earth and mate with our women and make kids all over the place.
But let's also not forget that most of those stories are pretty damn weird because of it, and that those gods are much more akin to humans than Diablo is.

    Quote from Creepsville

And let's remember Baal from the D2 expansion. Baal led an army and seemed to have very human traits. He had more going on than Diablo at least.
A good point to be sure. Then again I'm not entirely sure I prefer such a characterization :P

    Quote from Creepsville

And remember, that Diablo is a known as a PRIME EVIL for a reason. He's evil.
Semantics aside, I do not question that he is evil, merely that it doesn't necessarily make to describe him as such. But it was more of a useless remark than an actual contribution to the discussion.

    Quote from Creepsville

To be honest it seems like there's a lot of rationalization for why he's so evil when to me that should be obvious from the start.
Should it though? I understand your point, and from a perspective of how gripping his character is, I can agree with you. But I kind of side with italofoca as well: Diablo is an otherworldly and immortal being from the dawn of time who's very being is terror. It's just hard to see how to personify that into a more humanlike character, which is probably needed if you want a villain on the level of Darth Vader.Which is why we see most of him when he acts through his proxies DiabloWiki.com - Lazarus Lazarus, DiabloWiki.com - Leoric Leoric and DiabloWiki.com - Aidan Aidan.

And ignoring all that stuff and just looking at him as a variable in a cosmology, I'm not entirely sure he should be described evil. As Siaynoq mentioned in his first post, he's more a being of chaos than evil.

    Quote from Axtroz

Why didn't they just "walk over" to sanctuary?
I guess neither the lesser evils nor the high heavens should become suspicious. "We are not on sanctuary by choice."
That's a theory I subscribed to in the past, but it doesn't seem to be what actually happened. From what we can tell from the Book of Cain, Heaven didn't know the Three were exiled to Sanctuary. Tyrael only found out by happenstance some decades after it happened, and then he did everything he could to keep that knowledge from the rest of the Council. Thus he created the Horadrim to hunt them down.

In light of this, it would seem that the Three never intended for the soulstones to be used to begin with, since they ravaged Sanctuary just fine without them for forty years. What seems mor elikely is that, once Tyrael decided to use the soulstones, then Izual informed the Three about them and their weakness.

    Quote from Axtroz

Now Diablo somehow got the knowledge of the black soulstone and he adapted his plan, or someone else plays a role later on (Adria's betrayal stuff) which somehow has to lead to the merging theory.
The Black Soulstone was only created by Zoltun Kulle after the Three were all imprisoned, so like I said, it's really hard to say anything definitive about it at this point.

I'm not sure I understand the exact question, are you wondering how Azmodan figured out the Black Soulstone existed, or how Diablo figured it out? At this point both questions are impossible to answer, and I bet they rely on story development within D3 which we have yet to hear of.

I happened to notice something today: In the beta, you must destroy the 4 pillars to gain access to Leoric. The pillars, once activated, bear a striking resemblence to the the pillars Tyreal activates in the end cinematic. Coincidence or hint?
Hint of what? A good idea is to always have a theory first and then look for the evidence ;)

There is a lot of confusion about Lilith it seems, also it doesn't help that on the first post of http://www.diablofan...re-no-theories/ describes Lilith as the mother of Andariel
    It does?

Ugh it does... I should do something about that. Give me a few days.

    Quote from ESSaturn

It's pity that Blizz has such poor imagination for demon names :) Lilith is daughter of Mephisto according to the Book of Cain. And Lilith is the mother of Andariel according D2 :) So Mefisto, one of Prime evils, became grandpa of Andariel, one of the Lesser evils :D
No. The point illustrated in the post Gibson linked to highlighted the fact that the Pandemonium Event is not canon. Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto, but she is not the mother of Andariel.

    Quote from Happuff

This speech however implies that there was never any tensions within the ranks of Hell, and that it has all been a ploy to fool both Sanctuary and Heaven. This would, by extension, also mean that the civil war that is said to be raging between Azmodan and Belial has been nothing but a ruse."
Not necessarily. While that has certainly been the prevailing theory on this matter over the years, I think the Black Soulstone cinematic, plus what we know of events within D3 disprove this line of thought. Azmodan and Belial both appear to be at real odds with the Prime Evils.

What's important to note here is that even if the Three did mastermind their own exile, it does not necessitate that the Lesser Evils knew about this. The Lesser Evils could have been duped by the Three, and likely were.

posted a message on Possibility of another Sanctuary?
    Quote from Schatten13

Any lore buffs out there know if there has been any hint of another sanctuary or world created by the world stone? This could very well be possible. It could have been created by the other angels or demons that have kept it secret after witnessing what Inarius had done.
There's been hints that other worlds were created by angels or demons before Sanctuary, but that they were always failures due to their homogenous nature. All order or all chaos. As far as we know there are no other "developed" worlds like Sanctuary though, and there's certainly not been another opportunity for other angels or demons to repeat Inarius' feat.

There is still the matter of The Others, strange beings that prevent DiabloWiki.com - Trag'Oul Trag'Oul from physically entering Sanctuary during the DiabloWiki.com - Sin War Sin War, but we don't know what they are. It has however been theorized that, similar to Trag'Oul, they are guardians of other worlds in the cosmos.

Trag'Oul has further hinted that the angels and demons are not the masters of creation they think themselves, furthermore supporting the notion that there is something else out there.

    Quote from Axtroz

I don't want to be spoon-feeded with every single reason which leads to basic behavior. In my opinion you get way more drawn into a story when you have to think about some things yourself, using your own social intelligence and ability to empathize with someone.
    Isn't that what we're doing though? :S

    Quote from Damerflinn

@Phrozen thanks, I love those books, all my characters in WoW are named after characters in WoT, and I'll probably keep that up in Diablo.
Same here (for Diablo). We should totally start a club :P

    Quote from Damerflinn

But this same sort of analyzing of characters and their motives, applies beyond this, and could be applied to the more vital characters in the story, such as Azmodean, Tyrael, and Diablo himself. But it's also not vital to do so to enjoy the story, even if it is more fun in my opinion, to each their own.
It's always really hard to do this on more non-human beings though. The Skeleton King was after all human once, we can relate to that. Diablo is an immortal demon spawned from the husk of a dead god and who's very being is the most terrifying thing in existence.
