posted a message on Advice for those leveling a new character.
This may be well known advice, but it came in very handy for me once I discovered it so it may help someone else. When you level a character you get lots of upgrades, and gems are very valuable, but I kept removing my gems for 100,000's gold when all you have to do is salvage the old item and the gems will be placed in your inventory. I never dared try this before because I thought I would lose my gems, but I had an old item with some trash gems in it so I salvaged it.

posted a message on 2h needs to be able to roll 2 sockets
    Quote from Fitsu

Just a thought, i'm dual-wielding atm on my barb and feel like it's basically impossible for me to find a 2H that would out-do the additional stats I gain from having a second gem now that weapons can no longer roll CHD. The easiest fix I can see to this is allowing 2hs to roll 2 sockets and therefore giving them an equal amount of stats as 2 1hs which I assume is supposed to be the goal otherwise why would I ever wear a 2h?
That seems like a pretty simple solution to implement, I can't see any major reason why that wouldn't go some way to making them more viable.

One potential problem is that Crusader will be running round with very high powered one handers. I haven't tried out crusader enough to know if this could be an issue or not though.

    Quote from Draktharbar

Mal dropped the mat for me, along with the plans, the first time I killed him. From what I've read from other threads, the droprate is either very low (no drops in 35+ kills) or it's bugged and can only drop on your first kill of him. I did a little researching on the Angelic Shard mat as well, and people were getting the same results: a few reported getting it on first kill of Izual, and others had killed Izual 40+ times and never saw it drop.

I have not yet crafted them, as I have legendary bracers on my level 70 monk, and I will wait until I level another class to 70.
I got them same as you. I need one more of those lvl 70 brimstones and then I'll craft them. Leveling a crusader now so it might take a while.

posted a message on Question about gold and new players or players with low/no gold
    Quote from Bagstone
    Quote from Verocity

The costs aren't designed to drain billions from someone's wallet. It's designed for gradual progression.
Some of the gold cost were, especially the exponentially increasing crafting cost. This was confirmed by Don Vu in the playtest session. And in between the lines you could also get that it's similar for the 9.8m per Flawless Royal gem, I'm sure it will be lowered in a few weeks/months.
Honestly, I hope it's not lowered. I like that they are at least somewhat difficult to obtain. I have around 60m after vanilla, due to selling gems etc before AH shutdown, but I could never afford to kit out myself with marquise before ROS, now I already have full flawless imperials and I'm just waiting to find plans to upgrade to flawless royals. I'm kind of sad that they removed an aspect of potential long term progression. A little masochistic maybe, but hey, I'm probably going to be playing this game until Diablo 4 so time isn't really a factor......

I received Maltheal's crafting material and the corresponding plan on my first kill of him. Just need to find some white bracers now.

posted a message on Adventure mode needs fixing
I'm sorry if this has been addressed already. Maybe I'm missing the point somewhere, if anyone could enlighten me.

I tried to join around 10 games yesterday, but all had been completed already. Eventually I found one and it was great, but then I noticed the problem. Basically, once you finish the bounties, one person drops out, this is then filled by a random player who walks around for a few seconds and then realises the bounties are done, while the other original players start dropping out and other new players come in. Eventually you have nearly all new players dropping out and coming in keeping a dead game alive. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, I decided to start my own adventure game and open it to the public at lvl 70. No one joined even though there were over 2000 people playing. This may be a separate issue.

Adventure mode should be locked or invite only once all bounties are complete, or another set of bounties should automatically start after you receive your reward.

posted a message on Drop rates on the new gems?
    Quote from GamerDanCam

I don't know what the rate is, but I know after playing 4 - 5 hours I have 10 or 12 marquise and even one imperial dropped for me. It's hilarious, because I literally sold the last of my gems mere minutes before the auction house shut down forever. A week later I get better gems, free, and they don't really seem to be rare exactly
The old gems are useless now, I'm glad I sold all my higher level gems before the AH closure, I threw away hundreds of flawless gems to make space yesterday. I hope it's going to take some time to get to flawless royal though.

Foreseeably I'm going to have full max level gems within about a week, whereas I had no chance of max level gems in vanilla even after a year of playing. I would like something to shoot for long-term.

The new gems are great, I already have almost full flawless imperials throughout within maybe 3-4 hours playtime. Anyone had plans drop for the higher tiers yet?

Note: In order to access Act V once Reaper of Souls is live, you will need to exit your current game and select Act V from the Quest Select window. If you want to avoid having to recreate your game, we recommend that you set up your game so that you're killing Diablo after your gameplay region's launch time. This way, you can naturally transition into Act V without any additional effort.
Thanks man. Can you access adventure mode straight away?

posted a message on How to play ROS
This morning I logged in on the EU servers which were up at the time for ROS,
but there was no option for ROS like adventure mode etc. Do I have to do anything manually like entering a key to
play the game or should it auto update? I bought the digital version off Battlenet and it says ROS in my account.

I haven't really had time to check in depth as I just did a quick log in before work, but I want to play start as quickly as possible when I get home as I don't have much time to play.

    Quote from BigEd781

I took Wednesday off. I'm not taking a day off just to battle server instability. I also had to negotiate with my wife as we have a three month old and all day video game benders are... frowned upon.

I've cancelled my boxing until Wednesday so I can experience launch day server delays. I have to negotiate some play time with my wife as she hates me locking myself away for hours on end :( Also, I'm a teacher so no chance of days off mid-term. But, then again, I'm an adult, I've come to "accept" that free time is not an endless commodity like it was in childhood.
Yeah, your last sentence sums it up for me as well. I had a daughter born two months ago, so I haven't even bought RoS yet, and probably won't until sometime this summer.
Congrats on the babies. I'm trying for one now, I can't see games holding too much of a priority once it happens though. I'm sure it would be a nice break nevertheless.

The thinking man would have taken the initiative and done something really nice for her this weekend that she really likes and knows you don't.
I spent the weekend in a hotel with my wife and we ate some great food, this was not because of the game, but I am considered highly at the moment. It just so happens that my wife has a meeting tonight so I got an unexpected shame free window of play, this is the best thing that could have happened for me.

No, but those gems are pretty low level and the jump to marquise was pretty big stat wise and cost wise. On average, we get around 5-10 flawless per hour, which is going to mean we have 5-10 marquise/imperial gems per hour if the drop rates stay the same. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I just wondered if this will be the case as it will be very easy to kit out a level 17 (socketable items?) with full imperial gems if so and consequently will be worth farming for a few hours at 61+ before starting out with a fresh character.

I'm mainly referring to marquise gems which will be 7 levels above current flawless squares. It would feel a bit of a let down if these gems are dropping frequently.
